Great Shaver but battery is dying – Bought this around 5yrs ago I think - great shaver, I note some reviews with issues with replacement blades and head but I replaced with no problems. Only issue is over the last 12 mths the battery appears to have died, it will only charge to about 35-40mins and really only last about 20mins after full charge, it shows 6 or 7 mins remaining and… Read more ·  1

then shuts off in the next minute.

A bit frustrating as it was expensive and I’ve upgraded the head and blades - will look at replacing but may look at another brand unless the battery issue has been addressed somehow.

Replacement shaver head terrible – The replacement head has gone blunt after about 2 months. It was never very good to start with and the original is doing a better job than replacement head. What t do know. Maybe ts built in obsolescence so people buy a new shaver. Ok, I might buy a different brand! Show details

Never had a problem with the heads but – Bought mine about 5 - 6 years ago. Have never had a problem with the blades - I always cleaned them after my daily shave, maybe that helped. Unfortunately the battery is now flat and will not recharge. It was holding a charge so well that I didn't bother taking the charger on my frequent weekend breaks! Hope it's fixable. Show details ·  1

Beautiful, quiet shaver (still on original cutters and battery :-) ) – Having read the reviews left by many unhappy people, I just wanted to say that I like mine (made in Holland) very much, and it's been going well on the original heads since December 2013. Perhaps I have a soft beard? :-) But I'm glad to see others experiences, they made very interesting reading. (Mine was purchased during a 50% off sale I think.) Show details ·  1

Buy this product if you like being treated like an idiot – This is a very poor customer expereince. You get locked into buying very expensive blades. There was a time when you could keep the head and change the blades, now you have to change the whole head ($100+ each time). The company does not seem to care about happy customers because happy or not customers need to change their blades. That's why you… Read more

see the huge discounts on the units but no discounts on the blades. I have been with Phillips for over 20 years but I am going to find a product that is sold by a company that genuinely cares about its customers. I feel ripped off every time I have to fork out large sums of money for these blades. I hope the company listens but I suspect profit is a greater priority than satisfied customers. I very rarely write reviews and never written a bad one. I have been a Phillips Customer for over 30 years but no more.

Replacement blades don't exist - you have to replace the whole head!!! – I bought this shaver after having another Philips for about 20 years. After 1-2 years the blades were worn so I went to get new ones - sadly you have to replace the whole shaving head! At a cost of almost $100 - what about the environment and waste? AND cost! My old Philips used to be able to just replace the blades. This is extortion. Eventually… Read more

Crap replacement heads – Like others I had the original shaver head which needed replacing. The type are absolute rubbish for which you pay a premium price. My new one lasted about a week before just completely falling apart while shaving. I cant get the unit to close properly and the blades hit the casing. Plus the shaper edge on the outer rim cuts the the skin especially under the nose area. Never buy a Philips again so disappointing after good ones before. Show details

Do not buy any Philips product – Paying $450 for the worst product in the world have designed technically wrong by Philips. The customer service do not answer and just try to waste the time. No one is responsible because they are happy with your money. Other brands more cheaper and better and better response when you contact them. Damn Philips .....

Replacement heads are rubbish – Paying $450 for a shaver I would expect it to last longer than 18 months. I replaced the heads after one year as they weren't shaving as good as when they were new. What a surprise when the new heads were actually worse than the old original head. Philips you shouldn't be allowed to sell sub-standard products that cost $100 is disgraceful. My… Read more

shaving time has doubled because the replacement shaver heads miss most hairs and I need to go over my face 3 times and it still misses hairs. I clean the shaver every day, but this head should not be sold or given away as its worse than shaving with a butter knife.

When I first got the replacement head the crappy orange piece that holds the blade in place was broken but the store sent out a replacement, but the shave is still awful and seems very consistent with others who have been dupe by Philips into buying a shaver then selling awful replacement heads which does a very poor job at shaving.

I would stay clean of all Philips products after spending $550 ($450 on shaver and $100 on replacement head) on a product that now does a very poor job.

You have a very disappointed customer Philips after selling such a poor product. I had been a Braun customer for 20 years and afterwards tried the Panasonic 4 head shaver which was average and still missed hairs, the Philips with the original head was better than Braun and Panasonic, but now my faith in philips is just about gone.

Replacement head blades are a joke – Like many other reviewers, I bought the Philips Sensotouch 3D and had no issues for a couple of years until I had to replace the blades. was broken straight out of the box. I returned it to the shop but was told it was not covered under the warranty (pretty sure I could have argued for a refund) but was given a spare one from out the back, so no worries. The replacement blades worked ok for a couple of months, although noticeably worse performing than the originals. Now after 2 months, the blades are useless. It just took me half an hour to shave and I am beyond frustrated. I took some solace from reading other reviews to see that EVERYONE else seems to have the same problems. I only wish I read them before I bought them. Oh, and I clean and lubricate the blades after each use. Which by the way, is a massive pain in the head because the replacement head is so damn fiddly. I hate these blades. One of the worst products I've ever used.

Replacement Head for RQ1260 – There are many bad reviews regarding the replacement head, RQ12+ for the RQ1260 shaver. told me that the only solution was to buy a different head, (I can't remember the model number), but that they could not recommend it on the RQ1260. Evidently Philips in the Netherlands are still recommending the poor quality RQ12+.

So I am left without a solution for my shaver which is less than 3 years old.

The new 9000 series is getting equally poor reviews. So Philips quality has degenerated. What a shame since they had such a good reputation.

So which brand do I turn to?

replacement heads. I purchased these from Shaver Shop for the price of a cheap brand new shaver and as a result expected it to perform. Perform it did... It felt like my face was being waxed but without removing any hair. This new head literally just pulled on all my hairs. I thought this might be a charge issue so charged it, same problem. I took back to the box to make sure it was the right one, and yep it sure was. I called Philips Aus and they said there were issues with the first batch and that they would send a new updated one to me. Great, but back to using 'el blunto' for the time being. New heads rock up in the post (thanks guys!), but unfortunately the face wax continues. I annoy Philips Aus again with a phone call, and ask old mate if he can check and see if he just has any of the old blades left. He said he really doubts it, but if he finds any he will send me them. Nothing ever came and I continue to use 'el blunto' to this day (a year on). I cant even buy a new Philips shaver because they all use this hair pulling head. What do I do Philips? Why have you put me in this position when you were always consistent and reliable? I now resort to looking for cheap chinese old style blades with a tear in my eye.

Not happy Jan – I have had a Philips shaver ever since receiving my first electric shaver for my 18th birthday and I'm now in my fifties. fine for the first 2 years until I had to replace the head. At that point in time I was advised that replacement blades weren't available. The guy at the shaver shop said that Philips had discontinued the original head and that the new head was an improved head to suit my shaver. His sales pitch was "Philips felt that they could do better and designed a new head". I purchased the new head where it was okay for a few months and as with other reviews the blades quickly become blunt and now is hopeless. I regularly clean and lubricate the shaver so as to get the best from it until last week whilst cleaning the head I found that the cheap orange plastic clip that holds the blades had broken the little lug and it was unable to retain one of the blades properly. I took the head into the shaver shop and the girl there said that the head is not covered under warranty. She was able to provide me with a second hand clip from out of another failed head and went on to say that Philips had shifted manufacturing from the Nederlands to China and had a few quality problems, any wonder why... probably because Philips decided to take their manufacturing to a Chinese sweet shop to ensure the cheapest possible cost at the expense of quality. Meanwhile I still have a blunt head that hasn't lasted what I would consider a reasonable time. Not a good way to provide customer service Philips!! Without happy customers it won't take long to not have a business. Braun is looking better and better.

Shaved pretty well for three months until the "rechargeable" battery died – Critically flawed. I received this as a gift two years ago, but only unboxed it six months ago as my old Philishave XL 82xx served me well for many years with only one heads and blade change in over five years, as had the Philishave I had before it. for a month. When I came back the unit was stone dead, and would not charge. A $50 replacement cradle and cable confirmed what many online reviews and the shop assistant at the shaver shop said, namely that the Sensotouch 3D range is renowned for models which suddenly stop charging and effectively become expensive doorstops. Despite being in mint condition, the unit is also out of warranty

Can't comment on performance much more than that, although I will say that the cheap plastic cradle that you need in addition to the power adaptor and cable seems utterly unnecessary and in my case, meant I couldn't use any of my old philishave chargers to test my faulty unit, nor take advantage of my existing accessories such as a car charger.

Next stop... Braun series 9.

The battery life is what annoys me the most and unfortunately cannot be replaced! The life of battery has dropped to about 22 minutes down from 60.

The cleaning kit does a good job but requires you to buy the Philips cleaning liquid which is about $20 give or take. Water won't do the trick!

Replacement heads, a disaster – I have shaved with a Philips razor for 40 years. In 2013 I bought a RQ1260 as I had started shaving my head as well. It did a great job. A year later the heads were getting a bit worn, so instead of buying replacement heads, I purchased a RQ1285 as it was on special and… Read more

only cost $100 more than the replacement heads. It had the same heads and I got the same great performance. At this stage I would have rated both shavers 9/10. Again after about a year the heads needed replacing. On purchasing ( all above purchases were made at "Shaver Shop" Robina) I was to discover that they had upgraded (haha) to a new style of head. I remember at the time thinking "why fix it if it's not broken". What a disaster, from day one. It takes an extra 10 minutes per shave to get nearly as good a shave as the old style. They have to be cleaned after every shave, which takes an extra 5 minutes each time. I have to shave every 2 days instead of 3. After 6 months these inadequate heads needed replacing. I decided to persevere, so yesterday I went back to the Shaver Shop to purchase the replacement, hoping they had again upgraded. The manager informed me they had no stock, as he had sent what he had back, as they were broken. He told me I should complain directly to Philips as any complaints made by Shaver Shop to Philips re this common problem, had fallen on deaf ears. I can only conclude that this piece of plastic junk was only introduced as a cost cutting measure. It does not belong in a top of the range product. 2/10.
