Piaggio Fly 125

Best all rounder scooter for the money! Cheap on fuel, great handling, stability and braking power – I've owned my 2008 Piaggio Fly 125 for over a month now. I picked it up for a really good price ($1500 including registration) It's been reliable since the first day I've owned it. I've performed the maintenance on it myself as it's very easy to do. This is the second scooter I've owned (the first being a 50cc TGB akros that struggled to… Read more
get to 70kmph) with the Fly 125 - I can get it to go 110kmph even with heavy winds (indicated... I would estimate the speedo to be off by 8-10% to it's actual speed) this performance allows me to keep up with regular traffic without pissing off the other drivers (it's actually fast enough to outpace cars off the line with ease).
The full tank (7.5L) would last around 180-200km before needing a refill (the fuel light comes on very early though so don't panic) when refilling at the bowser, only fill until you hear the 'click' sound otherwise you will risk overfilling it and it will cause poor and sluggish performance..
I would easily recommend this scooter to anyone who's after a reliable commuter that's very fun to ride around on. It's so cheap to use daily and it will save you heaps of registration, insurance and fuel cost.
Piaggio scooters are built in the same factory as Vespa's. It's essentially a Vespa without the heavy price tag (about 50% off)
Leader engines are known for their robust reliability.
I'm now going to sell my car and use this scooter daily, it's that good.
Buy one now! you won't ever regret it. Reliable, cheap on petrol, cheap running costs, long service intervals, great handling, strong brakes, zippy performance Fuel light comes on way too early, speedo is slightly off by about 8-10%, indicators noise warning not loud enough
Good – Good bike, good on fuel. Stable on road. Just the seat seems to be faulty as I cant store the helmet inside (which I believe I should). I recommend this bike. Good stability. Great design and it has a good speed. Bit too heavy. I can't store my helmet under the seat. I am not sure if I should contact the dealer or Piaggio manufacturer themselves.
Excellent – Good, reliable scoot, but needs larger fuel tank. Possible problems with quality control from manufacturer (Italian design but made in China). Two-year warranty alleviates this issue somewhat. Cheap, reliable urban scoot, can accelerate from standing traffic quickly. Stable riding, but can be bumpy over 80km/h. Responds well. Braking is also very… Read more · 2
reliable. Stylish looks. Biggest con is the size of the petrol tank (7.2 L). It needs at least half the size again, (10 -12 L). I can travel 140km on one tank, thus 20km/l tops. As it is a new scoot (currently 750km on the odometer) I hope the fuel efficiency will improve as it is worn in.
The glovebox could be larger, but buying a top-box would solve this issue.
Starter motor disc came away from the engine after only 2 weeks, but repaired within 24 hours by dealer. Under two year warranty, so no cost. Starter motor disc Wasn't tightly attached during manufacture, according to the dealer.
Excellent – Good value for money when compared to the 125/150 class overall. Great value when compared to Vespas! Notice they are the same price in NZ.....& the exchange rate has been 20 to 25% in our favour for a while so although I can appreciate the different markets I kind of figure we are still paying a lot for all of these products. Nice ride & solid, consistent handling give positive sense of control on this small engined everyday achiever.
I have only done 670km's so far but have taken it on open roadways & coastal rides with no trouble keeping my lane or accelerating. It's still pretty tight & I'm sure it will improve considerably with a few more cruises which will pump up the km's in no time. Being 115kg's means it works a little harder but have no problem cruising at 80+ & can just hold onto the 100km/h on the flat when necessary but wouldn't like to try it for too long. A fun summer cruiser! Seat is definitely too hard on a half hour ride! I know it's a commuter but a polini/malossified (MBK) Zuma does a great job of that for the 5 to 10 km runs I do regularly! Glove compartment moulding already coming away from top right corner when shut so it looks like it could be ripped open.....a bit chimpy!
Good – I have owned 4 scooters and this is a great scooter, Reliable pwerful enough in the city will do 100 KPH on a good day on speedo which is 10 % fast and cruse nicely at 80 KPH on roads. Nicely styled with very good quality especially in view of the cheap $3,500 on road cost.Had 3 electrical faults during 2 year warranty The starter relay, Fuel… Read more
guage sender and blinker switch all quickly fixed under warranty. My daughter has taken this scooter from me so I had to send twice the money to buy a better Honda sh 150 scooter. Highly recommended Its a piaggio with the Vespa 125 engine so parts backup should be good. Nice styling,Good suspension, Quality if finish, Good headlight, Have proven to relaible over 9,000KM Under seat will take a full face helmet good size Fuel economy approx 27 Kpl on short trips, large glovebox. Does 180 KM between fuel fills. Excellent dealer backup. Paint is faded after 2 years despite looking after, the scooter is parked outside everyday. Unpainted plastics are starting to be effected by UV Sun rays. Tyre only last 5,000 Km but all 12 " wheels scooters would be the same.
Good – Overall a good scooter with plently of speed. Will sit on 80-90 kph easily. I have done 3500 klm on my 2010 FLY 150 and have not had any real problems. I opted to do the servicing myself as the workshop wanted $250 for the first service, which is basically an oil change - outrageous. Great price - half that of Vespa with the same engine. design. Ridge in seat was initially uncomfortable untill foam softened up. I would have liked a kick start with an automatic bike in case the battery went flat. Small petrol tank - should be double the size - I only want to fill up once a week not two or three times as I am doing presently. The indicator switch is crap and frequently distracts me when it fails to engage properly so that can be dangerous in traffic.
Excellent – Paggio fly 150 overall it an excellent communter scooter , it ride excellent , long service interval of 6,000 kms is a real added bonus.I am very happy with the Paggio fly 150 , I really couldn't for ask any more better than Paggio , from now on , I will definately sticking the Paggio Scooters brand. It really well worth the money. My previous… Read more
scooter was the Sym Frienze /Rv 250 , The Sym Firenze was one of the worst scooter I ever owned , Piaggio Fly 150 is one hell of rider scooter communter. I have the 2010 Piaggio Fly 2010 , is very awesome scooter , the service interval every 6,000kms , it has a proper oil filter .Riding the Piaggio fly 150 , it rides like similar to a vespa Lx 150 scooter , except the Piaggio Fly 150 has 12 inch wheels. There are alot of aftermarket spare parts avaiable , also Oem geniune parts . It better than any other Asian Scooter out there.
Excellent – This is the best value for money product around. It has brilliant breaks, nice looks is extremely cheap to run. Price, reliable, nice design, reputable brand, environment friendly, smooth riding, strong breaks. Seat height; but I am only 173cm tall
Good – "You get what you pay for" except in the case of this bike. The $2995 price puts it in the range of many 50cc bikes as well as a few of the cheaper & nastier of the 125cc models. This bike is Piaggio though built in China & with that name comes history, quality & the backup that we all need when things go wrong. This bike feels like nothing could… Read more
go wrong with it though. It's solid on the road with amazing brakes, VERY plush seat, quiet engine that sounds more like an electric model, thick 12" wheels, wide faring & enough zip to put you well ahead of the traffic. I had it going at 80km/hr in a 60 zone before I realised my error & reduced the throttle.
I recently realised how important security is with something that can be picked up & thrown into a van. This bike provides a little more security than most with the standard steering lock as well as an immobiliser that comes standard. In addition to this set-up I'm going to add a disc lock that has a 110dB alarm that should put most filthy theives off as well as looking into getting an ignition lock plate installed.
This review is from riding the demo mind you, I pick up my lovely red Fly on Wednesday. After driving the gas guzzler around for a week I can hardly wait to get my butt on the new bike! Solid feel, very comfortable seat, two seat height options, good brakes (even the drum) the look, the grey panels cheapen the look a little when you have any colour other than black. I liked the trick my last scooter had of being able to access the underseat area keeping the scooter running at the lights, but you can't have it all :)
Good – I bought this bike because the reviews consistently said it was a good reliable scooter with excellent acceleration. So far it hasn't let me down. Some reviews have said that they don't realise the speed that is reached until it is too late - they're right! The engine is smooth (once it starts) the brakes are fantastic. Although I don't go up many… Read more
hills and just drive around the central city I am getting almost 180km to the tank. Simple clean design (not overdesigned). Good size - not too big, not too small. Great accelleration and smooth ride. Can handle road conditions - even the tram tracks. Great storage - contrary to what the sales person told me I CAN fit a full face helmet under the seat! The indicator doesn't make any noise so sometimes I forget to turn it off. Although I have only had it for a couple of weeks it doesn't start very easy, I always have to turn the throttle to get it going.
