Now, if the claim is accepted the Builder will take forever to do the repairs ( Busy!) and neither of the Trade Assist Roofing companys will even inspect the roof but only want to see the Builders report. received an email with the policy documents. Just this month I checked online and RAA debited my savings account twice, same amount. When I called i was told that I had two policies for the same product when I queried why due diligence was not done and why I did not receive documentation for the two policies but just one? Raj from the call centre told me a bold face lie of not seeing it was necessary. Also, I requested that since they took 3 payments for the duplicate payments, they need to reimburse me $169 and I was again told that this can be done only after the March payment was cleared. These corporation take our money quick Smart and if we are late, they charge us late payments yet make every excuse not to refund our monies back. There is no integrity with RAA and once I get my money back I am cancelling my policy. Basically this is theft. Also, the two people I spoke to were Indians and when I queried if they were in India in a call centre, they said they were in Adelaide (Richmond Road) which I doubt it. Customer Service is non existent and responses are not to help customers but protect their jobs. Please be scrupulous in dealing with this organisation as I had to learn the hard way and not going to deal with them. If I dont get my money back asap will be taking it further.

Written Policy words are meaningless to RAA – Very disappointed in their rejection of a claim for a failed power supply line to the house that burnt out after a reconnection from SA Power Networks. The Policy T&C clearly states the power supply line is covered by RAA insurance policy. Yet, they refused to pay it because they 'think' it was an install error underground on a "no connection… Read more

clean wire" some 30 years earlier? - There are no wires to view, no evidence to witness as we ask for their evidence-based reasoning for the decision not to accept a $5,500 electrician bill - We were provided with NO evidence, just a 'thought' - not good enough RAA and clearly you are putting the breaks on claims right in the middle of a 'cost of living crisis' while you increase your premiums to young families who pay you hard earned money to insure uncontrollable events, you failed. A Disgrace, but who really cares, you win again.

Storm Damage attended to quickly and resolved in a reasonable time – We had some storm damage where rain entered through poor flashing around aircon ducts on a skillion roof. After a few weeks of the rain event, I noticed water marks on our living room ceiling. I called the RAA and they assigned one of their contractor assessors who came out promptly. He arranged for a roofing contractor to do a quick-fix on the… Read more

flashing just in case we got hit by another storm. Once this was sorted they had another contractor come out to assess the damage and casuses and provide a quote to fix the ceiling. I had to fix the flashing out of my own pocket because it was substandard, which was totally fair enough. Once I had the flashing fixed their contractor came in and repaired the ceiling, and you cannot tell there was ever an issue. I am writing this 2.5 years after the fact, and I still can't tell there was an issue. Very happy with the service and I believe they provide a lifetime guarantee even if I choose to insure elsewhere. I have been with RAAI for several years, however this may change as last years renewal went up by 20%, and this year by a whopping 50%. Having said that, most other reputable insurers (ie good ratings) aren't too far off the RAAI cost either.

RAA Insurance Policies and Claims Service top Notch – We undertake an annual Insurance Review and found RAA Insurance policies exclusions and Insurance premiums to be cost effective and competitive. We have had a bad luck with our house, holiday home and speed boat and even bad luck travelling overseas however RAA claims have always been fair and reasonable

Prompt and professional – Several years ago I made a claim for damage to my home resulting from a burst pipe. RAA organised everything for me. I had tradies at my house the same day. on Monday I called RAA to just see if the loss was covered under my contents ('Accidental Damage') insurance. The person I spoke to on the phone took care of everything on the spot and I had the compensation in my bank by Tuesday! Again completely painless process, good communication, generous assessment, and fast settlement. Couldn't ask for better service. Add to that, I originally chose RAA because they quoted me the lowest premiums - by a *very* significant margin - over all other insurers who quoted me several years ago. It is one of the better decisions I've ever made, and I recommend RAA Insurance whole-heartedly without reservation.

Member for 15 years - Actively leaving - One policy left to replace. Public Liability: -Had to take legal action against them to get them to pay out on a policy with a valid claim. -Continued to charge me for pet insurance after being informed multiple times of their passing

-Slow and nitpicked over a water leak claim, again dragged out for an extended and unreasonable time. Yes they paid out after i accepted less than i should have just to get the matter moving and dealt with.

Travel insurance:

-Refused to look into the claim, stated they were just resellers of the policy, and did practically nothing to assist. Don't sell something as 'RAA' if you are going to shy away from any responsibility if the service is required.

Consider this - A house builder sells you a home, there are problems, then they say 'Well, I didn't build it myself, I paid someone else to build it - not my problem'. Would that be considered reputable or even legal?

The RAA thinks this is a good way to conduct business, and i cannot disagree, financially speaking for them. They take a margin by selling out their once good name, then duck all responsibility if their members need the service they sold them. Member Value Team

-Approached to enquire regarding continued high price increases - After spending the time to go through the process and take the calls with the Member Value Team. I was advised that they consider themselves a premium service provider and are priced accordingly, and if I don't agree that, i should leave.

My 15-year experience is that the RAA is a 2-bit, lazy business trading on the reputation of a long-forgotten value system.

They say the right things, but talk is cheap and their policies are not.

I am voting with my feet.

I am not a 'Valued member'. They are not a company I could ever suggest or endorse. 15 years is sufficient time to see that there is a pattern that is not being addressed or resolved.

I do not see value in paying the highest market rate to receive below average performance

Thankfully I pay insurance monthly so I can find another insurer immediately.

notification. Despite numerous attempts to contact RAA, I received no apology or explanation for the oversight.

During my call with the Total Loss representative, I was met with indifference and blame-shifting, instead of acknowledgment for their shortcomings. This dismissive attitude is unacceptable.

Furthermore, my concerns about the undervaluation of my recently purchased car were brushed aside, further adding to my frustration.

This experience highlights systemic issues within RAA's communication and customer service practices that need urgent attention. I urge RAA to take responsibility for their actions, apologize for the distress caused, and commit to improving their services.

Okay, but there are some concerns – Following two claims in two years, both times after submitting the claims on-line, and after receiving a confirmation e-mail, it took at least two weeks for a response from the RAA. If that is the case, it is up to the RAA bosses to get more staff! Anyway, after my calls, the process of inspection and repair got moving. A shame that as a long term customer I need do this. I am not really impressed with their level of service in-spite of what their television advertisements in SA profess! After submitting a claim for storm damage earlier in 2023 with RAA Insurance, we sought two quotes to affect the repairs to our pergola. We selected Ambrose as our preferred repairer as the quote was far more detailed and included several additional features. After accepting Ambrose as the repairer, we were consistently contacted regarding the progress of the repairs. The communication was excellent. The communication was excellent. Regular phone calls and e-mails from [Name Removed] and [Name Removed] were greatly appreciated. Amazing how the process could be organised ‘remotely’ from WA and Qld! The assessor contacted us and turned up on time. Therefore, after this inspection the nature and extent of the repairs was known to us. Our request to have an upgraded standard of Lazerlite was accepted and it is pleasing that it was fitted. Electricians attended to check on the solar system and provided a verbal and written report. The materials were delivered when indicated they would. The roofing tradies contacted us before the day and turned up on time, completing the work efficiently and effectively. Even cleaning up after the job was completed! The painter ([Name Removed]) attended after the building work was completed. He even painted over sections of the balustrade that was slightly scratched during the process of removing the old Lazerlite. This was greatly appreciated. A couple of items to note: The painter did a good job (again texting us to inform us of when he was going to attend and to ascertain the correct paint), pity that he could not paint the battens in their entirety before they were fitted to the pergola as he was on holiday before the job was completed. Upon inspection of the work, I pointed out one gap to the roofers before they left and one of the guys ([Name Removed]) merely told me that either some flashing or additional silastic sealant was not listed in the materials. We now have some leaks (when it rains) in some sections of the pergola where it abuts the gutters of the house. Interestingly there are leaks where new C channel has been fitted and where older C channel exists. There is also a largish gap where water drips through. The new C channel replaced older channel that was not damaged in the hailstorm. I raised this with the Ambrose representative in a phone call, I was informed that [Name Removed] (the builder) would be contacted and we would be contacted and told as to what could be done about these leaks. We subsequently informed by [Name Removed] that the ‘supervisor' had looked at the hurriedly taken digital images of the gaps and concluded that as it was not as a result of storm damage, so no further remedial action will be taken to prevent rainwater dripping onto our decking. A shame that an assessor could not personally attend and look at the completed work (and the issues I have commented on) in person rather than rely on my digital images. We assume that costs need to be reduced. So, the new section of C channel, (that replaced existing C channel not damaged in the storm) and the old section of C channel (that was not damaged in the storm) now show leaks as they abut gutters. The section where old channel was reused may have been moved a little in the Lazerlite replacement process thus leaks through the older sealant occurs. I have a friend who is also insured with RAA and is also having a pergola replaced due to hail damage in the same storm. As I understand it, Ambrose Construct Group is completing the job as well. I will copy this feedback and forward it to him. Overall, it has been a satisfactory experience. It is a shame that these little items have impacted on our overall impression of the entire insurance and repair process. It was stated by an RAA Insurance inspector after the work was completed that flashing is required. Further correspondence with Ambrose stated: "As the flashing is a direct arrangement between the trade and yourselves as you're aware it is not covered under the insurance I have no control over this, unfortunately”. This is even though the work is supposed to conform to Australian building standards. As a result of our concerns, a RAA assessor attended and looked at the issues. His final words were, ‘I’ll see what I can do”.

Obviously there was nothing he could do, as that was the last contact we had from the RAA!

If the RAA actually do monitor the reviews on this site, they do not seem to worry about legitimate customer concerns.

at all, no claims in that period. Last renewal I called up to review, and was told similar things to other people - that's the price, don't care. Have now moved to another insurance company with comparable coverage, and the price is the same as what RAA was 4 years ago. I assume a lot of people are leaving lately, as I didn't even get asked for a reason for cancelling my home/contents insurance - despite being with them over 20 years.

Keeping car insurance with them for the moment, as they've traditionally been pretty good with car claims. Will see what the next renewals come back as though, as we may move those policies also.
