Safety 1st One Safe Travel System

The seat can NOT be reclined fully! – The seat can NOT be reclined fully which is very BAD for new born. They claim that the seat can be reclined in three positions but the lowest position is NOT flat. Therefore, you can not keep your sleepy/new born baby lay flat on this stroller. I wish I return this stroller that I bought recently.
Infant carrier very handy - but issues with all three components of this system above all the stroll – Best things first: * I love the concept of the infant carrier - no need to wake baby up when taking them in and out of the car * infant carrier rocks when on a flat surface (i.e. floor, table) - useful when trying to strap a crying newborn into it * Infant carrier is relatively easy to use and relatively light * Infant carrier fits into the… Read more
back of a small car (VW Polo) without compromising the legroom for the passenger
* Buckle on the infant carrier is good, height of shoulder straps adjusts by pushing head inlay upward
* the foldable base unit folds easily and also fits into the boot of a small car - rear wheels are detachable if needed
* comes with an array of equipment such as a sunshade for the infant carrier that attaches to the handle, mozzy net, rain cover for the stroller, sunshade for the stroller etc
Here the issues:
* Sunshade on the infant carrier (which attaches to its handle, you have it up permanently to protect bub from the sun while in the car) needs two hands on either side of the carrier to fold down - and fold down it must, in order to get the safety belt over the carrier when you click it into the car - it's quite a stretch for a small female
* the sunshade itself keeps detaching and falls onto baby's head - the Velcro stickers that hold it to the handle are no good
* infant carrier inside lining has started tearing after 4.5 months - lucky you can only use it for 6 months
* mechanism for attaching the detachable rear wheels on the base unit has become clunky after approx. 3 months - I just don't take the wheels off at all anymore
* storage compartment at the bottom of the base unit is small and very hard to reach from either front or back
* stroller unit is the most problematic element of this travel system:
*** to detach it from the base unit, you need two hands pushing one button on either side - and keep it pushed! - while lifting the unit! for a slender female quite a task (impossible to do with a baby in it btw)
*** one of the two buttons mentioned above is now getting difficult to push - needs a fist punch
*** shoulder straps are huge, even when adjusted to the smallest level - my 5.5 month old is still too little for it
*** angle of seat pane is too steep - cant be used for a baby who doesn't sit yet - my 5.5 month old gets uncomfortable still and tries to wiggle out (doesn't happen with our other stroller with a flatter angle of the seat pane)
Overall: I bought this system to get the infant carrier and stroller that both fit one base unit - the infant carrier was worth it. However, the stroller is rubbish, I no longer use it. In addition, it's useless for babies that cant sit yet. There are other travel systems out there, where the stroller folds into a bassinet (or with a basinet attachment) so you can walk your infant. Upon investigating a basinet attachment for this unit, we found there is none available in Australia.
Best pram I've ever used – I absolutely love this stroller/capsule. It's a little bit confusing at first trying to put it together and figuring out which buttons to press but after a bit of practice it's easy to use. The steering and control is so smooth. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the capsule has this annoying bit of seatbelt connection… Read more · 1
that can't be removed so you have to tuck it off to the side when using the capsule on the pram. It really seems unsafe to me. Not sure how it got rated the safest capsule when this piece of seatbelt is attached by a cable tie.
Other than that it is amazing.
Possibly worth not buying the capsule if you can get a different safer brand cheaper because baby can go straight into the big pram as long as its in the fully reclined position. Easy to use, smooth steering, looks really good. The annoying bit of seatbelt on the capsule.
Excellent steering – The number one thing I love about this stroller and the thing other people comment on is how easy it is to steer. It has a brilliant turning circle and, although with the pram attachment in it is quite big, at least it's easy to maneuvre in shops etc. I loved being able to put the capsule straight onto the stroller, and it's much easier to put in… Read more
than other capsule travel systems I've seen. The reason I bought this system is because the capsule received a 5 star safety rating on the CREP tests.
The downside of this system is it is very big and comes in 2 bits which takes up a lot of room in the car and is near impossible to put together one-handed. However, my son finds it so comfortable and sleeps in it for hours. I like that I can recline it when he's sleeping and put it up when we're walking so he can see out. For some reason the straps on the harness are very large and loose and don't appear to be able to be made smaller.
Overall I'm happy with this pram and would recommend it to others, while reminding them that it takes up a bit of room. Safest capsule on the market, easy to clip capsule into pram, excellent steering, comfortable for baby Big, takes up a lot of room in car, need two hands to put together
Versatile & Light weight – I've had this pram for approx 20 months. I got this pram because I wanted a travel system for the convenience of capsule from car to pram for a winter baby. I chose this system because I am only small & it is so light & the capsule is the safest. At first I found it tricky to get the capsule off of the stroller but once you're used to it it is… Read more
easy. Same with the collapsing - very easy once you remember process. I did & still do find it difficult to adjust the recline but I think like any new thing the more you use it the smoother it goes & I don't adjust the position very often, but it has 3 recline positions.
If you are buying a travel system it is very important to remember that the capsule to stroller phase will only last a maximum of about 10 months if your baby is small. After that you will be using the seat attachment. It is annoying having to take the pram apart & put in the boot with the seat but it's a small inconvenience It does however take up quite a bit of room - I have a mitsubishi lancer sedan so not a huge boot.
I liked that this pram came with the rain cover & boot cover included & they are excellent. It's easy to steer & looks nice.
My three complaints are that the basket is poorly designed so it is difficult to access - I usually just throw loose stuff in there becuase hand bag or nappy bag is a squeeze. Also, the straps on the seat are huge & I don't know if it is just me not being able to work it out but at maximum tightness they were way to big for my daughter & are only just starting to fit properly now at 19 months and about 11kg. Lap strap was tight though & I wasn't concerned about her falling.
Finally, and this is not a reflection on the product. I bought this pram from bubs n grubs in brisbane & they specifically told me that it could be converted into a tandem pram however when I called about the second seat as I'm pregnant again I was advised it could not be . I was very annoyed as I went in to buy baby jogger city select & they switch sold me. So that would be great if safety first could develop that option. Great value, light weight, safe Small basket, straps on seat
Safety 1st One Safe Travel System- love it – very happy with this product, easy to use and convenient. I like that i don't have to disturb the little one, i like that the stroller is compact when folded, in fact today I took the stroller seat out for a test run in my mothers small car and both pram and seat fitted well. I shopped with my 6 week old and am very happy with the recline angle… Read more
on the pram as well, he slept the whole time. Although I really missed the ease of just clicking the capsule in and going..... easy to use, fits well in the car, 5 star crep rating on capsule, the colour (sky black) looks cool as well shopping basket is ridiculous in its size, way toooooo small for even my handbag let alone the baby bag and shopping.
Perfect travel system for the safest capsule on the market – The Stroller is part of a travel system, so the removable stroller seat can be replaced with the Safety 1st Onesafe capsule. This capsule is the safest and lightest capsule on the market (see Australian CREP tests www.crep.com.au) giving you the safest, lightest and simple travel system which best of all means you don't have to wake the little… Read more
darlings while you shop, coffee, whatever.
The removable seat is durable, has a high back for tall children and can be placed either facing you, or away from you. there are three recline positions from near flat (for newborns) to sitting up. The stroller comes with with a rain cover and foot muff which is nice not to have to buy extras. The storage basket is generous and easy to access. The handle can be extended to three lengths.
I found the capsule easy to get in an out of the stroller housing. Even though there are two buttons to release the capsule, you can press one at a time while lifting the capsule with your other hand (see other review that had trouble with this function). Because this capsule is so light (more than a kilo lighter then its rivals) you won't have too much trouble lifting it off the stroller, but as bubs gets heavier, it does take some strength - not the fault of the capsule though!
The stroller has the modern looks of looks of bugaboo without the price tag. It rides smoothly, but is really best for urban/paved surfaces. The smaller front wheels need to be lifted over gutters, as with most strollers.
The stroller itself is light weight, very easy to unfold. However the 5 step folding takes a few goes to get use to, but is numbered to make it logical for dads.
My husband is over 6 foot and the extendable handle made this a very comfortable pram for him.
The one, minor drawback, is that you need to remove the seat to fold up the stroller, which is not difficult, but if you were travelling, or trying to get on a bus, the stroller is in two parts, and you are carrying a child. So if you wanting a collapsable stroller, this is not what you are looking for. Buy this stroller if you want a safe, economical and durable travel system that can grow with your child for many years. Convenience of travel system, taking me from capsule and then beyond. The system is pricey (around $700 with capsule) - but what price a sleeping baby? I could not buy the stroller in Victoria and had to order it from interstate.
Should have done my research before buying this system – I bought this without really looking into it, the ladies in the shop were really selling this particular model to me and I liked the idea of clip on and off capsule and pram attachments, and the 5 star safety rating for the capsule, but apart from that there are major flaws. We have a new Ford and the back seats are kind of bucket seats with… Read more
quite dipped in seat parts, we have had to stuff about two towels under the capsule to stop our babies head flopping forward and still this has not helped, it still flops forward when she falls asleep, we have also tried pulling her down in the capsule a bit which helps a little bit.
Another down side is getting the actual frame out and up, you have to put it on the ground, pull one lever then turn it over and pull and push another button, it also takes up lots of room in the boot, on the plus it is easy to attach the capsule from the car into the pram. Another fault would be when I go out for a stroll the front wheels kind of get the wobbles and shake the whole pram, you kind of have to lift up the front wheels to re-aline them, the pram is definitely not made for foot paths or off road. I really like the actual pram attachment, I ended up putting my four month old in there sooner as it can recline so she can sleep better than in the capsule, and it is light to push around Expensive, quite poorly made (does not feel very sturdy), the capsule is not designed to fit into new cars, baby is to upright
Does not recline! – Everything is great about the product; lightweight, easy fold, narrow, great steering and compact however neither the capsule or the seat recline for a sleeping baby! Huge drawback and will be selling mine because of this. The only other negative is that there almost needs to be a seat between a capsule and the chair. The chair is much too big to… Read more
put an infant in after coming out of the capsule. A little disappointed in the product.
No recline! Seat much too big for infant after finished with capsule. Disappointed.
Overall pretty good - but a few draw backs – Overall I am pretty happy with the travel system. The shuttle stroller is great - maneuvers well, reversible, light weight, and not too wide. The capsule is also fine. Now the problems - well the main problem is related to removing the capsule from the stroller. The idea is to be able to remove the capsule with the baby in it to put it straight… Read more
in the car. Well unless your baby weighs 1kg or your superman or woman, it is impossible to do by yourself as you have to press buttons on both sides of the capsule and whilst pressed, lift the capsule. Also is is quite difficult to change the position of the capsule handle, particularly when its in the car.
Another negative is that the shuttle stroller has to be taken apart to fold down so is awkward when out and about. Shuttle stroller is great Some drawbacks - especially the way the capsule is removed from stroller.
