Stands the test of time – Ok. So first off this review is correct at being written in Dec 2023. Second I'm never buying another Samsung tv again... This thing has survived moving through 6 different houses. 2 major house renovations (drop cloths it's only protection). Falling off the 1.5 met high cabinet and being hit by a golf club by a three year old. This sucker is… Read more ·  1

old now but still it runs. Has droopy side lighting, down to one working hdmi port, and up until a couple of weeks ago relatively free of terminal burn in.

Now that we can actually read the settings menu items on Sandra Sullys forehead it's time to replace it. Even the sticky old 'mash 'em till the pcb creaks' buttons remote still works.

This thing should have died years ago but here we are.

Thanks 15yr old tv - you've done well,, it was the bomb in its day.

Off to an OLED that hopefully craps out at 8.

Heap of junk - will never buy samsung again – My Samsung TV was about a year out of warranty when it stopped working - i.e. it was only a few years old. I used it mainly for watching the evening news and the odd DVD, so it was hardly over-worked. I received a quote of nearly $400 to get it fixed, which I will not bother doing. I am aware that manufacturers nowadays deliberately build poor… Read more

quality products so that consumers will just keep buying, buying, buying their latest models. In my view, however, this is appalling and I am not going to go along with it - I would rather go without a TV at all. I expect a relatively expensive purchase to last more than a couple of years, especially when it has only very light usage. I will definitely never buy another Samsung product based on this experience. What a heap of useless junk!!

Good – Got the 40" just after christmas so have only had it for a couple of months but very happy with it. It makes a pretty sound when you turn it on and off. the remote is easy to navigate around, I haven't even looked at the manual which is saying ALOT because I am not technilogically minded at all. Quality of the picture is great, sound is ok...… Read more

but that might be the DVD player and not the tele - but for some reason when DVD's are on I need to turn the sound up significantly more so than just watching tele. Not a big deal, overall I am very happy with it. Great quality, awesome price (boxing day sales), very easy to set up and tune nothing so far

Bad – Reliabilty would seem poor. Bit of a shame as previous Samsung goods have been excellent. Now put off them for life. Retailer did not want to know and Samsung Customer Service were about as much use as a chocolate teapot! Parts were not available and we waited over 3 weeks for repair. However since repair has worked well. LOOKS GOOD -… Read more

Excellent – Bought August 07 and still loving it! Have had no problem with this model. We did our research before this purchase and it has lived up to all expectations. Only wish we had not listened to the sales guy and who recommended a pioneer dvd player to go with it as it does not recognise that brand for programming the remote so we have to use a… Read more

separate one, and perhaps should have bought a full HD tv at the time, but can't really complain as we love this tele!! Superb picture quality, nice looking set, no problems with it. Has a nice black. Is fairly easy to adjust settings and has nice presets, even I can work it out. :P Does get a bit dusty but is to be expected with the black materials. It cleans easily. Have seen a vague bit of ghosting on fast movement once only.

Good – Spent a lot of time looking for a 40+ inch TV. Decided against Plasma when they didn't offer the same warranty. If they last as long as LCD TV's they should offer the same warranty. Looked smaller in the store. Just fitted it in the car and setting it up in the room showed the real size. High Def looks great but you soon get upset with… Read more

the lower quality of Standard Def or Analog. Set up was really easy and the store warned us of the set up problem with people only doing the analog set up and not waiting for the Digital set up to complete.

Just a note if you play PS2 games or older game system. The lower quality game graphics look a bit off. May need to update your game system if you want to use them on this TV. Movies are great and really impress.

Over all looks good and has great functions was a good price. Happy with it. Clear Good Picture and sound is pretty good, Looks good, Blacks are really good, price was good and setup really easy. Makes PS2 game look a bit rough.

Excellent – First I was planning to buy a SONY V series but after doing some research and comparing the price and specs. specs are generally higher than SONY, but i think the picture is not as great as SONY on colours, black colour is darker than SONY and other brands though so it's good for horror movies! But everything comes in price too...after comparing… Read more

with the price LG is the only one close to Samsung in price range but quality on LG is not as good as Samsung hence I bought this Samsung...

beware that the Picture in Picture won't apply on TVinTV but AVinTV or PCinTV has Dynamic Contrast Ratio, static contrast ratio still better than SONY's V series, with a cheaper price

Energy saving feature to fine adjust the brightness of display

3 HDMI input, built-in HDtuner

subtitle button which couldn't find from some other brands like SONY standby 20W (haven't measured other brands but i guess that happens to all TVs)

since it's a shiny finish you can see the dust attracted to the screen (actually this applies to my friends SONY LCD TV too)

not full HD, which offers in M81 model.

Excellent – Fantastic quality & value for money. We were going to buy the Sony Bravia, but found that this had a very comparable picture for a much more reasonable price. Very happy with the Samsung! Clear picture, Easy to follow remote, On-screen tv guide Degree of distortion when watching fast moving pictures & sport.

Excellent – Since purchasing this LCD my bedroom has never looked better, The 40" really makes it stand out, especially for movies and PS3. It is a shame that FOXTEL HD won't be launched till late 2008 because you can notice the clarity on standard definition programs, but the HD channels Ie: 7HD, NINE HD, TEN HD etc...Looks great, Excellant colours in screen… Read more

Excellent – Looks great and is so easy to use. This is so cheap at the moment. We paid a few hundred less the the recommended retail price and it is certainly worth the full price. I cannot fault this product Looks great and works well. The price is great. Attracts a lot of dust

Good – I've only had this set for two months, and so far so good. I purchased this set because the price was very competitive when compared to other 81cm LCD televisions, and although the picture comparison in the shop seemd to indicate that the Sharp had a better picture, Samsung has a very easy to follow setup procedure built in when you first turn… Read more

on the set. This has resulted in me being very happy with the picture that has been achieved.

The remote control is easy to use, and the high definition inbuilt tuner, picked up all stations on the first go (unlike my previously used HD STB, which continually dropped stations).

The set has plenty of connectors of all type including a VGA connector that means that it can be used as a PC monitor. I have been using a DVI to HDMI cable to connect my Macbook Pro, and have been very happy with it's capabilities for displaying pictures stored on my computer and movies saved from the internet and email.

So far a very positive experience. Easy to setup. great connectivity, stylish looks very little
