Fire hazard – My machine did alright.. I've come home from school drop off to a retching smell of electricity burning smell, walked into the laundry to washing machine billowing smoke! Yikes! Unplugged, opened door and boy smoke just poured out so o shut it back up! I called my mum as I had no idea what to do in this situation (I'm 33) did as she told, while… Read more

keeping an eye on it called Samsung... not any help I asked what does one do when this happens.. apparently nothing! So it's been 5 or so hours now my house reeks of smoke and the clothes well I've had to toss them as they stink as well. Since I've been researching Samsung washing machines and boy have I learnt a lot! Like never to buy one again, YouTube is your friend here it's a common thing for Samsung washing machines to smoke and catch a light, something need to be done about this company and the metals no materials they use. I've got my tool box out and am ready to take it apart to see if it matches what all others have stated about these machines.

Fantastic machine – I bought this machine a week ago to replace my old Asko that had blown the motor for the second time in two years. The first thing I loved was the way that the cycles are programmed. You can really customise every cycle to suit the load that you have in the machine. I can fit a substantial amount of washing into each load, and the clothes come out… Read more ·  1

lovely and clean. The quick wash function will be great for freshening school clothes in the afternoon with as little as 15 minutes for a load. The low spin speed (800) will not be a problem as if clothes are too wet you can always do a separate spin cycle at 1200 if wanting to use the dryer. I love the Eco bubble setting, no soap residue on the clothes. I also love the small water holes in the door seal as the seal doesn't let any large items into the machine. My old Asko was forever being stopped mid cycle due to items as large as coins or hair clips being sent through to the emergency water release box. So far I have found a hair tie and cigarette lighter in the front of the door seal and the machine completed the cycle no problem. This would never have happened with the Asko. The first time I used that machine a hair tie got stuck in the works! Having two teenage daughters I have often had items such as hair ties, hair clips, false nails etc in the machine. The holes at the front of this machine are small enough not to let these through, also the seal seems to be designed to hold on to these items so that they cannot get " caught up in the works." I also love that you can choose the temp, spin and rinse cycles of every wash. The machine also turns itself off after fifteen minutes of not being in use which is great. I also love the pause function which allows for the door to be opened early in the cycle if need be. I did a per- wash load of whites which had some very dirty socks that my daughter had worn outside without shoes. They came out beautifully clean - which never happened with my old machine. Great mid- range price, attractive, quite, easy to program, very versatile, fast spin, very short quick wash, great sleeping bag " outdoor" cycle, good load capacity

From a Top Loader to a Front Loader – My Kleenmaid died after 20 years of use. Decided I would try a front loader this time so read reviews and checked them out at the store. continuous wet periods here in Queensland. Time delay so that you don't have the inconvenience of waiting (just program to be ready in the morning).

Dislikes: I find the way the wash cycles work in a front loader very odd. It is a 7.5kg machine but if I select certain programs you can only put in say 2kg of clothes. Only the cottons cycle seems to be able to have a full load. Have to get to know the machine more to get the best out of it. I know it decides how much water to use but its a little annoying as the water turns on and off all the time whilst it gets it right. Does the same thing in the rinse cycles whereas I think it should have worked out basically how much water was right from the initial fill. Clothes are more wrinkled than with the top loader even if I use 800rpm.

Love: How clean it makes the clothes (currently using Euco Bosisto's washing powder and vinegar in the rinse - this will look after the machine and is good for your skin and clothes). Sooooo quiet.

Happy with purchase so far and have had no problems with the machine. Quiet, cleans really well, water saving. Wash programs are confusing compared to a top loader

Good Machine backed by terrific customer service – Our machine had a major drive failure last year and was repaired under warranty. This year, nearly six years after purchase, the dispenser at the top of the machine started leaking. It was replaced today and again Samsung footed the bill. We very much like our machine but are particularly impressed with Samsung's outstanding customer service. Thank you Samsung. I'm pretty sure our next washing machine will be a Samsung.  Show details

Years of trouble ending in it catching fire! – Purchased this machine about 6 years ago, early on it was an alright machine. After a while the wash quality started to decline quite rapidly. 3. Inlet hose popped off, flooded laundry.

4. Outlet hose perished and split, had to repair with duct tape.

5. Outlet hose perished and split in another place - this was the final straw for me. - Should last longer than 4 years!

It's been a great machine, have owned it for quite a few years now – Machine gets a heavy workload, at least 10 loads a week if not more. Hasn't missed a beat until recently. Started leaking water and i slipped the top off the machine and saw a split in the top of the detergent drawer. Machine sprays water all over the inside when filling up. This looks like a manufacturing failure. Is this something that Samsung are covering even though the machine is out of warranty. Happy to fit it myself. Show 3 replies

Love this machine and will be sorry when it packs it in – Extremely gentle on clothes. Removes any pilling from clothes (and great with wool). about this machine - it washed the clothes and that was it. One major issue was that, despite levelling the machine on the floor using a spirit level, it vibrated like hell and rattled the windows. WAS an amazing machine – A flat mate of mine did a load of washing, and found the door seal damaged after the cycle. a hole had appeared in the seal, about the size of a 20 cent piece. Thinking that she had caused the damage by trapping a piece of clothing in the door, (which wouldn't be covered under warranty), I called an appliance repair company to replace it. When he… Read more

was repairing the machine, he said it wasn't our fault, it was the machine. He then stated he repairs these machines (Samsung) all the time! After the repair, I opened and closed the door to see if the repair was all fine. Then I hear a crack, the door handle completely broke away from the door, rendering the machine useless!

A few month after purchasing, the machine also needed the drum shaft seal replaced. This is the seal between the drum and the motor at the back of the machine. It had folded over, causing a squealing noise during the wash and rinse phases. In total, the machine has had 3 failures, and with this third one, it's out of warranty. Consumer (NZ) released results for an appliance reliability survey, and guess what. Samsung washing machines are rated 'below average' for reliability. One of my deciding factors when purchasing this machine, is that they were rated 'average' for reliability. Seem they have slipped down in the polls. I am now going to have to go back to the retailer to probably battle it out, to see if they will repair it. I'm hoping I can get my money back, but i'm doubtful. Very disappointed. Seriously, do they make anything like the used to anymore?!

Reliability is poor. One of the most important things of any appliance.

Washes well, and water efficient but have had many quality issues – I bought a brand new 8.5 kg Samsung bubblewash in December 2011 from the rave reviews online about it's superior wash - and it has not failed to deliver in that department. first washing machine arrived, we got a '4e' error message on the unit and it stopped working. My husband opened it up and checked the filter as per what the user manual said, and filter was fine- no blockages or debris in there, but still gave '4e' error. Called Samsung, and they sent out a technician who confirmed we had a faulty unit that was not allowing water to come into the machine due to a faulty valve. They wanted to send it off for repairs, but i wouldnt accept that outcome with a 3 day old machine ( and mounting dirty washing) so thankfully I contacted Harvey Norman and the next day they took the faulty unit and gave us another as a replacement. Now 3 months later we are having issues again, it used to be so quiet but now is extremely loud ( like a loud knocking) during the spin cycle and have no idea why. Also, the silver ring cover on the front of the door has come undone too. its just not good enough for a $1400 washing machine, and to be honest not sure if I will purchase Samsung again because its proven to be unreliable. super fast spin, clothes come out really quite 'dry'

- has a cold water cycle option (lots dont't)

- great quick wash options (15 -55 min options)

I have done more washing this year than ever in my life due to being on maternity leave with a reflux baby in a sporty household!! I do about 4 cycles a day and it has never missed a beat. I find the daily wash function (55 mins with fast spin) the most efficient as the quick washes only spin at 800rpm. i was shocked to find that the 'Eco' features require really long cycles so we have never ever used unfortunately. White Bedding is the only thing i do on the longer cycle with some napisan as a pre-wash. Comes out really white.

Clothes clean well even on the quick cycles and business shirts definitely get less damaged than in my old top loader. Baby stains all come out easily except pumpkin.

The only downside is that the door seal gets mouldy but I think this is symptomatic of most front loaders from what I gather. It did say in the manual that you can stop and add things in the first 2 mins but we have never found out how this feature works! It would be handy !!

obviously I can't compare with any other front loader but it does the job and I would recommend. Direct drive, good range of quick washes, cold water function Mouldy door needs to be left open

have always had top loaders but I find the clothes come out much cleaner in this front loader. I convinced my sister in law to buy one and she thinks its great also. Easy to use. I can fit a queen size doona in it (only on 400 revs though). I also do a daily load of modern cloth nappies daily and they come out great no ammonia smell yet. The rubber at the bottom is slightly curved in a U shape and I find it gets bubs socks stuck in there and they don't wash then. Also I've only had it for three months so I hope it is reliable and lasts forever (but I'll have to see).
