Vishal – We are planning to install SwagonSchweigen Silent GG-915S in a doubble story house. We are replacing this to Bosch GG 109(?) Which is inadequate sucking power for traditional Indian cooking. In the Swagon installtion guide it says to installed the motor on the roof but the distance is too high. Can we installed the Motor behind the wall ? Show details

Lights and fan don’t work – I have a Schweigen isodrive 900 installed in 2017. Even within the first 3 years the fan and lights would turn on and off by itself several times. The faulty part was replaced. It seems it is a known problem. to happen over and over again. Now out of warranty, Schweigen doesn’t want to know about it and refuses to cover the cost of replacing the faulty part. It has been a disappointing experience with a supposedly quality product.

Crap product – The buttons don’t work and when boiling water it just drips condensation back into food. The design is flawed because it is not sealed. I rang customer service, they won’t admit it’s a faulty design but want you to buy their $240 sealed button system or $70 for the same faulty one that will last probably 6 months. It’s been rubbish since day dot. But Because I’m lazy and failed to ring sooner it’s warranty now expired. Don’t buy! Show details

Cap on roof becomes brittle with sunlight – We have an Isodrive 650 range hood and the top protective cap (on the roof) became so brittle from sunlight it just blew away, leaving the whole motor exposed to direct rain (making it blow up). rusts, plastic becomes brittle" and that this was simply just a fact of life and I should just tell insurance this was storm damage. Is this truly reflective of Schweigan's expectations that in less than 10 years it is completely reasonable that the protective cap just wears away leaving the whole circuitry exposed? If creating a cap that can withstand sunlight is not feasible should it be stated that the caps need replacing every few years? I am confused given the expense of these systems that this fault was considered business as usual.

super suction super noisy – For the price it is an excellent range hood it’s super noisy but for the amount of times you put it on full speed it’s bearable the suction is awesome you can see all the fat deposited on the vents which go straight into the dishwasher and presto it’s shiny clean. finally the lights stopped working. I called Schweigen for a new switch as we were by now off warranty. After the call I realised there was an electronic circuit board as well so I called back. Spoke to a tech who was really very helpful and placed the circuit board and wiring harness in with the switch for no extra cost. It turned out that the switch was ok but the control board was defective. It now works beautifully. We can hear it inside but with moving air there has to be some noise. It is comparatively quiet and we have had no complaints from the neighbours. Ok so the circuit board was defective from day one but I found the company very responsive and really appreciated their assistance. I replaced the board and switch myself.

Excellent extraction and very quiet – We have the under mount version with 1600 external motor. Excellent extraction even on medium speed and very quiet. It's not silent, but the sound is barely noticeable. As others have commented, on the low speeds you'll forget it's even running as you can't hear it. The outside unit is quite loud on the highest speed, so make sure you position that somewhere that won't disturb your neighbours.  Show details

NO FAN/LED down lights. NO SPARE PARTS – A New home..Bought 2 years ago. Range hood stopped working. Private builder, no receipt....so no Warranty. Faulty turns on and off on its own and trips the circuit breaker on high speed! – Has worked problem free for the past 3 years however now it randomly will work and other times works then turns itself off then a few minutes later will turn back on then if I use speed 3 it blows the circuit breaker. Poor Quality Electronics – After 4-5 years, the button controllers stopped working. Very cheap and poor quality design using unsealed systems, in a rangehood!! I had the privilege of buying the new "improved" buttons for $250. Stainless steel is fine, but that isn't hard. Easy enough to clean and filters seem to work well. Find a product with better quality and a company that is not wanting to gouge customers when their design has failed. Show details

email correspondence, no apologies ever given for the ridiculous amount of time it has taken to fix one small issue. Have been trying to cook without a functional rangehood for over 6 weeks now. Very frustrating to say the least, customer service not helpful. Will not buy from schweigen again.

then immediately said it was rubbish, anyway, very rude. He also said: are you expecting our guys to come and have a look for free?! Well yes because this is part of your service isn't it?! Then I called schweigen Australia, the lady told me that it has to be above the cook too at least 730cm and it was our builders fault (honestly, most of the new houses nowadays is 600cm above cooktop). She said they can send people over but it is unlikely to be faulty, hence they will need to charge for visit and check up. I am very disappointed as the service is full of "cash smell" and NO service at all. I feel I will no longer buy this brand and will not recommend this for others. Not good experience. If you want good service, avoid schweigan.

house and makes the fire alarms go off. We regularly have to stop cooking and run around getting a ladder to turn off the alarms which can mess up the timing of our cooking. I rang Schweigan when this first happened and received no assistance. I was told that it was our problem as our overhead cupboards were not 60cm deep to enable the rangehood to completely cover the cooker. I advised the person that overhead cupboards would rarely be 60cm deep given the practicality of using the bench top if this occurred. Clearly the rangehood would have been designed for the standard overhead cupboards of about 40cm deep and the brochure has an example of an undermount rangehood with overhead cupboards this deep. The next problem we have had, which is an issue that others have raised on this site, is that the built-in light of the rangehood suddenly would not turn off. We were advised that it was due to steam from cooking. We then had to pay $180 for someone to come out and fix the problem. This would seem to be a serious design fault as it is very usual for there to be lots of steam from cooking. These two issues have made us very disappointed with the rangehood and we would not recommend this brand.

Disappointing purchase – We have had our unit for three years now. One of the switches doesn’t work and the rangehood doesn’t cope with rapidly boiling water. compromised upon install. They were not experienced with installing this particular rangehood and yet still went ahead and ‘installed’ it anyway. They recognised that our cabinetry was not appropriately cut (which is fixable as we had just installed a brand new kitchen), and he still decided to install it and charge us almost $1,000 rather that let us know that the rangehood would not sit flush.

The rangehood is advertised as silent, however our installer told us that it was the noisiest rangehood that he had ever installed and that it was definitely not normal. When we contacted Schweigen they brushed off our complaints about the noise.

The rangehood is mediocre at best. Can’t even boil chicken stock without it dripping all over my glass cooktop. And so much moisture all over my cabinetry. Even an hour after it’s turned off, it still continues to drip from places that are nowhere near the flute. I purchased the 1600 motor and it doesn’t cope.

I wish I never even considered this product.

Sorry i bought this expensive unit – Very disapointed in the 900 under cuphard model when first turned on just about shook the whole house.took 4weeks for a new unit to be fitted the unit is noisy not quite like advertised. Schweigan 900 undermount is silent because it doesnt work...Now it doesn't turn off – Installed 2016, bought late 2015. 2017-ish Paid $200 for Schweigan's outsourced repairer to come out and fix no suction unit, claiming all was well, probably holes in flue (he didn't not look). Schweigan give excuses as to what is the problem, including blaming the installer, a well known and long-operating kitchen company- induction stove- causes digital issues- oh gas stove- causes condensation. I have had two cooks check the exhaust and both agreed that is was not extracting. 2018-2019, still had issues. Now- 2019 for some reason, the exhaust and lights do not turn off. I have to pay money for call out. The service from Schweigan, while everyone is lovely, have not been able to manage this. Contact MD and he claimed that he would look at the 10 emails that I have had to send, via my agent. Called him again, oh but I'm not in the office! So why say that you would do something, if you don't? So two things, a faulty product not acknowledged and a service centre that chases its tail-all the way from the head. They were not happy with repairer and now have internal one, and I have to pay because exhaust is now out of warranty. I have been told, buy a German product they are always good. Well that may be, but the service in Melbourne is not.

Very noisy – Pad almost $1000 for this when we upgraded our kitchen. We bought it because we were told it was ‘whisper quiet’, it isn’t. It only had one fan setting as well and we think it’s no better than the no name brand one we replaced. The lights are dim as well and the suction is poor. Works well, not as quite as I thought and broke down within 1 year – I had high expectation on this range hood and paid top dollar but maybe there is where I was wrong. showroom (I guess home is much quite than showroom). It's definitely a lot quite than the traditional range hood but no where near advertised (unless you don't use the maximum power, level 5, up to level 3 the noise is minimum).

We have one minor issue with the range hood, the filter as I said earlier works well, however there's still a small amount of leakages somewhere that 1 year later, there's quite a bit of oil residual built up inside the range hood (canopy). And this is we chuck the filter mesh into dish washer almost every night after cooking.

The led light works well, but it's too bright, especially when I try to remove the mesh, I look up, then I get blue dots in my eyes. I don't mind the brightness when cooking, but I think it needs to go inside the canopy a bit more to avoid hurting my eyes when changing the mesh.

Now the biggest issue is switch buttons / circuitry quality. It's been just one year since purchase, and we've not even used it for a full year (due to renovation), the range hood is no longer working. It looks like over heating or switch board issue, I sometimes can turn on the motor by pressing the buttons, but the motor will stop by itself after 1-2 minutes. Then I am no longer to press the button (buttons become inactive) for several minutes, and now it's completely dead.

Now it's a test for their customer service, if they handle this well I might change my mind and maybe I just got unlucky. Time will tell. I personally have renovated 3 kitchens so far, never had one range hood failing like this. It's pretty simple tech.

One last thing, when I purchased this range hood, I was told it's "German made", but turned out instead of "German made" it's actually "German technology". So beware of the wordings.

controll board as it is directly in the middle of the rangehood so the steam produced builds directly in the control panel, lights start too turn on and off fans don't turn off.

The range hood now will not turn on rang the service department they said it is out of warranty even though it has been an on going problem.

They expect us too pay for replacement of parts looks like they don't want to know, very disappointed all they went on about was the warranty

for the upgrade up to the 1600 motor and works a lot better but definitely not silent. I can't determine how they can claim to be silent when clearly they are not. When I rang the Schweigen office, the only thing that was silent was their after sales service. I would never purchase this product again, I should have purchased something else that was presented to me.

cooking and 4 weeks later cupboards are bubbled again noticed steam actually sits inside of cupboard doors against rangehood innner cupboard fitting and runs down resting on inners of bottom cupboard doors, had contacted Schweigan first time this happened, had their installer back to check it was working correctly, he said it is a problem with all undermount rangehoods, they do not cover all 5 burners only the rear 2 burners so therefore steam still from front 2 and middle wok burner will not be drawn up through rangehood he even went as far to say I could spend another Thousand dollars on upgrading my motor but even that wouldn't fix the issue, if only I had been made aware at the time of purchasing I would have bought another canopy rangehood and they charged me $110.00 for him to check, not Happy at All will have to call Cabinet makers in and see what can be done to change this option out another huge cost to get it right. DO NOT buy undermount rangehood for 5 burner's unless you prefer cooking with your above cupboard doors open. Spent $32,000 on new kitchen to have this happen very dissappointed.

on it what so ever, could have come from China for all we no. It is also noisy, not as noisy as a cheap $400 model but not a massive difference either. Most certainly is not silent. I would not buy again would do my homework and research more thoroughly next time a real shame cost us an arm and a leg to have this installed also.

great job. We did the tissue test (hold a tissue a few cm under the vent and see how well the suction works) and it's very effective. Cooking odours are extracted well in our open plan home. The LED lights are very bright, controls are simple to use and overall design is nice and easy to clean. One thing to take into account is the installation cost for the motor (an additional $400 in our case). Love this rangehood and would purchase again.

Excellent quiet fan – We purchased this fan for above our 5 burner stove. It was easy to install. It is very quiet when running on high. Has good strong lights. Easy to clean (I've just put the thingys in the dishwasher and they came out very clean). The only downside is that the front of it gets a bit yuk as it doesn't pull out to cover the front burners.
