Great for children aged from about 6 years old – Last Christmas, I bought each of my twin grandsons aged 7 at that time, the Sega Megadrive Blaze handheld games machine from Kmart priced at $49. It comes with loads of inbuilt games from the older style collection of platform games such as Sonic the Hedgehog. My daughter tells me that the boys use their games machines all the time even on their way to school in the car and on longer trips in the car, all she can hear is the music from the games, which can be turned off or down as required. There is also a headphone jack. These handheld machines take 3 x AA batteries (or could be AAA), and they last a long time according to my daughter.

One drawback is that if the child is part way through a game and has to stop playing, the game can't be saved at that point.

I didn't think these games machines would last very long but almost a year later, they are still going strong and still holding the interest of two children who have other games machines at home. Easy on batteries
