Sharp EL-735

Good – This calculator was recommended to me when i was doing my financial planning diploma so I bought it over cheaper options to ensure that I did not miss out on any fuctions. It has proved to be a very reliable aid in my exams and whilst it was a little expensive, demand for them second hand will ensure good resale if I ever decide to sell it. I can pretty much do any calculation using financial realated formulas. Made in Japan and thus is of a high qaulity. It is small enough to fit into your pocket and has its own cover attached to the calculator itself kind of like a book. It is not exactly cheap, costing me $75 for a new one on Ebay. It definitely has a retro look to it which might not be to everyones tastes but I like that aspect of it. The modern financial calculators look too wavey, plasticky and bulky.
Excellent – Actually the type I bought was Sharp EL-738 which was the replacement of the EL-735. Some of the key operation instructions of the EL-738 are different from the EL-735. However, both are easy to use. It handles easily all the financial and business calculations. Compared to the other financial calculator I have (the old type of HP 12C), the Sharp EL-738 manual book provides less examples than HP 12C. Large 2 line LCD display. Suitable for financial and business calculations. Reliable. Easy to use. It includes statistics mode, data base function. Good value for money. Nothing I can think of yet.
Excellent – Best calculator ever. I have had 3 or 4 EL-735 calculators for over 20 years. I have never seen another one half as good. Of course one can get fancy ones that are programmable or have big database operations, but 99% of one's calculations can be done on this. If one has a complex calcualtion it is better to use a spreadsheet, anyway. They don't last forever!
I can no longer find them in UK or South Africa.
My last one was bought in Katherine in N. Australia!
And the one before that was stood on by a cow! (Long story.....!)
Good – Okay, I'm not much of a fan when we talk about its looks. It sports a kind of outdated look, and htat's the only thing that bothers me. Stil, I couldn't discard this intelligent item just because of its look. I've learned how to use it to my advantage, and now I can't do without it. The engineer in me simply loves it. Affordable. Accurate. Intelligent technology. Looks like it's a calculator from the 80's
