Hard pass – Great power, terrible design. On carpet, you need to hold the hose at about 35 degree angle. If you don't, the end piece sticks to the carpet and the hose is so poorly designed that it falls apart due to the suction. On tiles, it's not much better. On the upside, the wet feature has been useful for cleaning up after a new dog arrived in the home.… Read more

All in all, if you don't want to spend more time putting the hose back together than you do actually vacuuming, avoid this model.

Love it – Not really quiet. But it has great suction, and holds a lot. Not so easy to maneuver upstairs, but it's worth lugging it around. I've had it for around 5 years and never had any issues with it, it's never stopped sucking, never had any hose issues. It's been really great.  Show details

Shop-Vac use at Home – I find the shop-vac of excellence to use inside my home. the suction is great, dust, crumbs, and just about anything that fits inside the head. The bloody thing is noise but it works. the hose and cord are miles long compering to house vacs, I can drag the thing about and around with no problem, use it on hard floor and carpet. and they are cheaper to bye.  Show details

Is great, works wet and dry – Incredible vaccine, expensive to replace filters but is worth it. Can vaccum up wet or dry and works on every surface. Light, easy to manoeuvre and kid safe. I have a whole house I vaccum daily, tiles, cement and carpet and works exceptionally well. Would highly reccomend. Great value for money.  Show details

Best vac I've used yet – I have two of the shop vacs, one for the house and the other for my dog grooming salon. The salon floor is concrete and the vac will go nuts on it and suck up all the fur I don't even bother to sweep anymore. I love how the barrel is massive and fits heaps of dirt, hair and animal fur I don't use a bag for it like the house one. Can't say I have many issues with the shop vac but maybe the cord could be a little longer.

Shop Vac Pro is a real shop vaccuum – In one word the Shopvac is awesome. Spend the extra bit of money & you will not regret it + you'll have it for years to come. We have a gravel driveway to our garage and it picks up the bits that the car tyres carry in no problems. General car cleaning, sawdust, welding/iron and grinding dust are all picked up easily. The only thing I… Read more

cannot comment on, is the wet part of the Vaccuum as I have had no need for it yet!

Don't settle for second best and buy one of the many no name brands around.

I have only tried the one Shopvac, pretty well the most powerful model, but I'm sure the rest of them do the job just as well. My Shopvac came with several attachments - the normal things you get with new appliances.

Shopvac answered my email in a very prompt manner when I asked who stocked their machines.

I purchased mine from Masters and they were extremely polite & knowledgeable. Unlike other big stores around!! (Green)

After my first mistake of a purchase with a previous well branded/named (Yellow) company (this machine cannot even suck the sawdust from the back of my slide compound saw!) - mind you, their other Appliances are awesome.

I don't know why I wavered from my old rule - which is - spend a bit more and you will have it for years to come. I have always done this with tools etc.

I hope my bit of info assists with your purchase.

Shopvac is Super – I paid $99 for this and its the most powerful Vaccum I have used for a long time, is easy to empty, easy to manoeuvre and can blow as fast as it can suck. I was thinking for $99 it would be pretty basic but value for money its great. I am so impressed I might buy one for the house! It reminds me of the old Telus/Nilfisk that looks like a Tardis! Everything, it actually works and I dont have to empty it every 5 minutes Nothing yet..

Good vacuum cleaner – It's a good vacuum cleaner, efficient sucking power which is just what i need having a toddler and dog and lots of sand in my yard. It was cheap too, but i've got what I paid for: very short wand and a small and rigid head so basicaly very back breaking (and I am short !!). I couldn't replace them with my old vacuum cleaner since they are not the… Read more ·  1

same size, so extra costs for me. On the upside they do sell parts, so I'll be able to get more wands and a better head and the nozzle size is very common anyway. powerful, good value the wands provided are too short and the head is stiff (only works in one angle)so it's quite back breaking. Had to buy extra parts so ended up not being as cheap as I thought

Simple, reliable and worth its weight in suction – I got given this Shop Vac Super from a friend that's moving away and can I make this clear - that the vacume was in such a state that I held fears that this near new vacume was not going to work and that I had just inherited a dud! After about 3 hours of fine cleaning and I mean scrubbing caked on mud looking material from all different areas… Read more ·  1

of the vacume and stuff that nearly made me gag, and this included rinsing the foam filter that was completely clogged with fine silt material and whatever else that had set with water that had been sucked up - absolute terrible job because he was such a slob!

Anyhow - after getting most of the dirt out I went further to pull apart the cleaner and kept on cleaning it further into the unit and was quiet amazed how well built such a simple cleaner could be, I mean this thing is 'two rocks banged together' simple and rock solid reliable! I prefer the whole plastic unit as its easier to look after and there is no chance of corrosion or dinting it.

So after cleaning and doing some preventative maintenance, I put the cleaner back together and gave it a good test. And by god did it have some suction!!! I think I am missing a rubber gasket that should live in the outer edge of the upper part of the unit between the head and the bucket to make an air tight seal, there is a bit of movement when they're clipped together (minute separation) - I guess this gasket can be replaced / made from some EVA circular gasket foam from a Rubber shop.

The Shop Vac Super is just that 'Super' - its a noisy devil of a thing however built to do the dirty work and do it well - I havent used it with any liquids yet but I can just imagine that it would suck up quiet a lot of it - there is even a hydraulic stopper to prevent water getting up into the suction chamber!

I replaced the hose with another better quality and adapted (cut, glued together and shut) hose and this just makes it a lot stronger for my needs, as the OEM hose and set-up was a little flimsy and not of great quality - be it from factory or from abuse. I also need a pre filter for the foam filter - so I will be stitching one up soon out of a thick woven cotton material which will ensure that the foam filter is kept clean of hair and dirt as this will be the garage vacume and for the car + a spare for the rental.

Overall I am impressed with the unit, for a freebie I am super impressed with the outcome of a couple of hours cleaning and some maintenance! I hope that it'll last me the years that I need it to, but due to it being so damn simple - I could fix it in a few moments and with some spare parts.

This is a true man's vacume!! Simple design, easy to maintain and pull apart to clean in depth. Easy to empty vacumed contents. Hose seems a little flimsy - replaced with my own.

Quality Hard Working Machine – The Shopvac Super, with a 1400 watt motor and 20 litre capacity, was my choice for cleaning out a very dirty, dusty garage. The machine came with an air filter, one filter collector bag, crevice tool, upholstery tool, brush and a standard floor tool with a very long hose and two extension tubes. On its first use the power was very impressive… Read more

and it was sucking up dirt and dust beyond my expectations. The machine didn’t lose suction even when the bag was half-full of dirt. The filtration system worked very well and I did not smell dust being returned to the air through the exhaust. Other machines I’ve used have left me with hay fever after vacuuming, so this was very pleasing.

Dirt, dust, pet hair, sand, sawdust, cobwebs, rust, insect excreta, iron filings and cigarette ash, it handled without problems. The work was fast and that saved me time. The only thing that got caught in the plastic hose was cigarette butts if they went sideways. The tube on this model is 32mm (1¼”) but removing the tube and attaching it to the exhaust outlet, blew the butts out easily – just don’t point it at your face or wherever it might cause injury or damage because it is very powerful. The blower function could be very handy for blowing out tools, dust from motors etc., in my opinion.

The filter collection bag was very easy and quick to change and their cost is really economical because they hold so much. The base is like a bucket on wheels and cleaning it was easy with the water hose since the entire electrical workings are in the removed lid and can be kept safely away from the water. The internal filter was easy to remove from the motor assembly and it was no problem to wash in water but it took most of the day to dry. Cleaning the filter probably wasn’t necessary at this time because the filter collection bags did such a good job of retaining the dust but it was a personal preference to wash off the little bit of dust collected because of the natured of what was being vacuumed up. I washed the attachments for the same reason to use them on household furniture.

The Shop Vac is made from tough plastic and so too are the attachments. The extra-long hose was a real bonus and great for cleaning the car interior in a much shorter time. The machine was so impressive that I tried it on the household carpet but it needed a carpet head which I used from another machine and it worked better than my household vacuum cleaner. It did a great job vacuuming mattresses and pillows using the smaller attachment. The added advantage of being able to suck up wet spills from floors or carpets extends the usefulness of the machine that could save floor coverings from further damage.

The price of the Shopvac Super and its very pleasing performance, made this good value for money. It came with a two-year warranty and there are plenty of economically priced spare accessories, hoses and other attachments to replace lost tools or extend the use of the machine. I will look at a Turbo head with rotating brushes, a Hepa fine filter cartridge and a sanding attachment.

The Shopvac Super is great for use in my home, workshop or car for better health and safety and its tough construction will ensure that it gives me years of trouble free use.

EXTRA NOTE: It is now 2016 and the vacuum cleaner is still working perfectly. I use the washable HEPA filter and standard disposable bags. If using the blower function, be aware that if you leave a dust filled bag inside, the force of the blowing will blow the bag off the intake holder and you will have the "bucket" section and filter full of dust. I learned the hard way. No loss of powerful suction, cleaner air, good value for money.
