Great little Czech Panzer – Bought new in March 2016 with a manual 6 speed 2.0 TDI oil burner to replace our Subaru Liberty wagon Car mostly does city driving but is just at home in the bush. Have taken it offroad (no it's not a landcruiser so respect it's limitations) without issue and impressed with its handling on and off the road. Towing is great with the diesel engine… Read more
and the factory towing kit is great!
A few issues even after warranty has not been a problem for the dealer.
Great car, pity it's not imported into Oz any longer
Great Vehicle – I use my vehicle strictly as a work vehicle, it is used as a wide load pilot/escort vehicle so covers on average around 3000km per week, servicing is relatively easy to do yourself or find a reputable mechanic to do..only complaint is parts are expensive, eg replace headlight $450.00. Economy is brilliant ride and handling (even though am running… Read more
cheap tyres) is impressive, comfortable driving position and enough room to carry what i need for work...would have no hesitation in buying another scout when i need to update this vehicle
A great car. Should be a lot more popular – We accidentally discovered the Skoda Scout while new car shopping for an all wheel drive vehicle that wasn't too big or cumbersome. I had never paid much attention to Skoda in the past, however one test drive in the Scout and we were hooked. We have had the car for 8 months now and driven 10,000 kms. It is very comfortable, has good ground… Read more
clearance for our needs and comprehensive safety and luxury features. It is quiet on the road and handles almost like a car - much better than the other AWDs that we tried. Although it isn't a large car it is very spacious inside (particularly the back seat) and has a very large boot. This is also my first diesel car and I love the strong acceleration available from low revs and excellent fuel consumption (long term average is currently 6.4 litres/100 km). Skoda has capped price servicing and our first annual service was only $292.
Skoda Scout 135 dsg – Weekly expenditure should include servicing costs. That is why I purchased it with the vehicle. It was a product they offered with the vehicle. 3 years service package for $1299.00. It was hands down the cheapest car I could purchase that was rated with low fuel consumption. My family budget was my limitation. My friend has one with 200'000km on… Read more
it. He has also been a service technician for Mercedes, so I took his advice and brought one.
My main concern with this vehicles is that even though euro car makers make fun of Gm's agricultural transmission, the euro transmission is very troublesome once they reach 120k plus. The Gm transmission how ever goes easy in excess of 200k trouble free. The Skoda operates a DSG. Which operates like a transmission but isn't really. It is a traditional more reliable 6 speed gearbox with an automated clutch that allows it to shift in the same way an automatic would but with the reliability of a manual.
Many highway trucks run these same gearbox with great reliability.
The car fits our pram and groceries no problems. And we can throw an umbrella pram in for our 2 year old if we want as well. The family loves it. But if you asked my wife about its safety features that the magazines rave about. She would not know the first thing about it and neither would I. We spend 10 min at the most going from A to B, and the great list of features this car has is waisted on us.
. The car is very quite. Dual zone passenger controlled climate control is a huge plus. DVD player a waist of time because as soon as the car is in motion it shuts down for safety reasons. Sorry kids, but Dad needs to try and shut you up as well as keep his eyes on the road still!!! On the plus side the navigation works well while in motion. It ironically is not considered a distraction.
Driving is unpleasant experience – Performance and handling are fine except for a somewhat excessive turbo lag. The manual gear change is rough for the first three gears and, when driving carefully and slowly around town and there is a definite clunk from the rear transmission unless the change is just right and sometimes even if it is . There is a noise over and above usual diesel… Read more
rattles that comes in at around 1500 r.p.m. under light ( but not zero ) accelerator, particularly in third gear. It sounds a bit like pre-ignition. Driving on the open road is quite pleasant but around town it is not nice.
Interior is fine if unexciting but cloth seat covers look a bit fragile ; perhaps. If boot courtesy lights can be persuaded to turn off the how thereof is a mystery leaving the possibility of flattening the battery by leaving the boot lid up.
At 2500 km. fuel has been only running cost. Fuel consumption seems to be highly variable under apparently identical conditions. At start it can use 0.1l every 2 seconds but overall has used 6.8l/100 km. including 500 km. of highway cruising. A Peugeot 1.6l uses 4.3l/100km on average from the start quite consistently.
Woeful – Not my first, but definitely my last Skoda. Awesome car in many respects, however, in less than 12 months and 20,000kms, it has a list of issues you wouldn't expect from a $45,000+ car. This is compounded by a poor dealer network from an after sales perspective. Rear axle noise. Brake vibration. Tailgate struts failed causing dangerous tailgate… Read more
drop. Active cruise and lane assist faults. The list goes on.
Skoda have failed me this time.
So, after numerous attempts at repair, I've traded it and lost a fortune! Beware.
Octavia scout TDI – I have the Scout TDI version of the Octavia, great car IMO, very good build quality, smooth ride and enough power.. No real complaints about the car at all, I do however dislike the VW group as their customer support isn't great but the car is good and I use an independent mechanic and would not hesitate to buy a Skoda again if VW Australia… Read more
doesn't try and price them up and out of competing with their other brands (like VW).. Good Value for a very high quality car Poor customer service fro VW
Great touring car, plenty of room economical and quality feel, the first car we all love – I have just completed 45,000 km in 12 months on highway driving, country roads and city driving. The car is incredibly impressive and fulfils all of our requirements. It has plenty of room, is very competent on dirt roads, it handles forestry roads very well and is good around town. Over 45,000 km we have averaged a little less than 6 L per… Read more · 1
hundred kilometres and a long trip can get down to 5.4 L per hundred kilometres closer to 6 with a full load. On longer trips we often carry three adults, three bicycles and camping equipment very comfortably. Leather seats, heaps of overtaking power, easy to load the bikes on and off the roof, the Audi all track system
