hollows all night long. It got so bad one night, when I was trying to sleep on the outer edge of the hollow, I fell out of bed. Harvey Norman wouldn't return phones calls, and when we finally got some action, they referred us to the manufacturer which under Australian Consumer Law is supposed to be illegal. Nevertheless, we complied with all Sleepmaker's requests and sent photos and measurements proving the bed is faulty and then no response from anyone. After ringing again a couple of times, I was told that I had to sign a form allowing Sleepmaker to inspect the mattress, then allow them to take the mattress away and 'repair' the mattress. The mattress has a 10 year warranty and failed within 6 months, so of course I refused to sign the document on the basis that we did not want a mattress that failed within the first 6 months of its' 10 year warranty so advised I would only accept a full refund. The manager at Harvey Norman insisted I sign Sleepmaker's document which I refused to do so no-one there or at Sleepmaker did anything hoping I would go away. We will never again spend a single dollar at Harvey Norman and are telling EVERYONE to NEVER buy Sleepmaker or shop at Harvey Norman. PS: We bought a new (expensive) bed just prior to the mattress also at Harvey Norman so no-one could say the bed was the problem.

resilience and so you end up with a deep depression where you sleep much deeper than the 3cm sag they say is acceptable. There also developed a ridge in the middle. We have numerous photos to prove this. The side of the bed drops like a muffin so when you sit on the side without bracing your feet you could slip off and end on the floor. After negotiating with Sleepmaker we got very frustrated. I have never had instructions of how to sleep on a bed but I have in writing their instructions. Note: They said the bed should be turned every 2 weeks and that every surface should be slept on. How utterly ridiculous. ( does that mean lying horizontally and gradually moving down the bed? - could not get clarification) and the best one of all was that on a regular basis you should sleep in the middle of the bed. As this was a bed designed for two people I asked how often this must occur that one person had to vacate the bed so the other could sleep in the middle. No response. Sounds like a scene from Fawlty Towers but we certainly weren't laughing.

With intervention from David Jones we eventually got a replacement bed - a cheaper model than our original but already after two weeks the top layer is sagging and it also has no resiliance and the ridge is forming in the middle. The base provided, when carried into the house could be seen right through and is made of what appears to be rough packing case pine with a cheap fabric on either side. So sorry we retired our old bed with its sturdy base. We could not fault David Jones in their effort to get our bed replaced.

We also noted that delivery came from Empire furniture so who knows what mattress you are really getting and if what you get is not sold under a different name at a cheaper price from another distributor.

Sleepmaker make and distribute mattresses under other brand names so it would be advisable to check just where your intended purchase is coming from. We are disappointingly left with a disappointing, bed and every night go to bed regretting we ever purchased a Sleepmaker.

We never been so uncomfortable! – We have had ours for about 2 years. After a couple of months my husband began complaining about it but in the last 6 months we have really noticed how bad it has gotten from waking up with bad backs and sore joints and lack of sleep from tossing and turning during the night. I find myself sleeping on the couch most nights now. We have no choice but to buy a new one.

Disgraceful – Product felt firm in shop but after a month we found big high ridges (more than body contour). One side edge has completely lost support. We have turned it upsidedown to lessen our back pain.

Very dissapointed – Purchased our 4th sleepmaker mattress in 25 years and this one had to go back twice for stitching fraying out and we roll in the middle and it's lumpy, also like sleeping on an inferno. Need pain killers for the aches & pains it causes.

Much softer than medium – Although this is meant to be a "medium" mattress, it is definitely a soft mattress. After several nights on this mattress, I had lower back pain (which I have not had in years). I was very disappointed, especially as it was not cheap! months on this mattress, I then developed upper back pain, which I have never had before. I have now sold it to someone who likes a very soft mattress.

This "medium" mattress is much softer than it should be.
