It’s a great dishwasher ! If not discontinued I’d buy another without hesitation – Excellent piece of essential kitchen hardware. Only had one service call in 10 years and was able to trouble shoot one issue myself. Well built, reliable but always use genuine SMEG parts for any repairs.
WORST DISHWASHER EVER – Constant problems - Its in our Town house that we bought and now rent out. Had to constantly reset and fix settings. Then door does not click into latch or close. Had to buy new hinges and ropes to dishwasher - service call , labour, and parts - $500 total. This time it turns on and the water starts but it doesn’t complete the cycle!!! over it
Dishwasher - Load Of Rubbish – I have never been so dissatisfied with an electrical appliance. I have had several dishwashers that died of old age. This model has averaged a callout each year since we purchased our house with Smeg appliances. Our latest issue appears to common, the power comes on but you cannot select any functions. Technician has advised that it is like a… Read more
faulty delay panel. To disable will cost call out fee and time (however you lose functionality) or to replace part will be approx. $100 + service call and time. Weighing up the cost of repairs spent + this, I think it will be going to landfill...
We have also had issues with our fan forced oven which required and new element after minimal use.
My advice is to not buy Smeg

You've got to be kidding me! – I've had no problems with any of my Smeg appliances for so long until three weeks ago when my oven began consistently cutting out after around 20 minutes of cooking time. I've had no time to deal with this issue in the lead up to Christmas and now, just before the holidays, my Smeg dishwasher no longer turns on. My electrician has assured me that… Read more
there is no electrical fault in my home and it is the appliances themselves. Just when I needed everything working for the family Smeg has let me down. Looks like boxing day sales here we come - certainly won't be looking at Smeg that's for sure.

Fine while it works, but it won't work for long – DWAFI149W was fitted in the house we bought (builder choice). Good features, decent brand name. First problem was that the timer/motherboard died. No damage, just died. It got replaced (several hundred bucks), with the side effect that the timer and 1/2 load functions no longer worked. A few months later the thing stops being able to pump out… Read more
water. Filters clean, can't understand the cause. I read a few forums and this seems a common issue.

Worst dishwasher ever – This was installed by our builder in our new home , I wish I had taken my old Bosch with me. Control panel surround split replaced under warranty did it again two months later didn't bother to get it replaced as it seems as it going to do it again . Very inconsistent wash some days everything washed fine other days items left dirty and with a… Read more
residue on them . Now it's just out of warranty 2.3 years as every wash plates are dirty and cups have residue on them . I would never buy another smeg product.

What a let down! – I was doubly excited to move into a home with a fully integrated dishwasher that was made by SMEG. My excitement diminished as soon as I opened it and saw how small it was inside. My disappointments have continued since when I discovered that unlike my beloved ASKO, there is no fan to dry the dishes and they come out soaking. I'll never buy a… Read more
dishwasher without a drying fan again.
Also, as another person noted, the slant of the upper rack sees items topple when you open the rack. This is annoying and also wets your dry dishes below (assuming there were any dried to begin with) which is a pain.
I've also found twice in a month that my Finish dishwasher tabled hasn't disolved fully which I never experienced with ASKO.
The Smeg dishwasher has been a let down though their oven is good. Thankfully this model has been discontinued.
Don't buy Smeg – Well, since my initial review, we've had a multitude of problems with this unit. About 7 major problems so far in 7 years. This is after a new kitchen and NO other kitchen units have had problems. Only this Smeg - the only Smeg unit we have - or will ever have. It's an inbuilt dishwasher. Most recent is that the rotary spray arm at the bottom… Read more
keeps coming off and jamming the works. This has already been replaced once. The E1 error then started (says it's flooding but isn't really and shuts the machine down with constant pumping - unit is unusable). New tech Lloyd appears who is very unpleasant and arrogant and says E1 will not come back. It did the next day.
Notified Smeg about the E1 but they never replied - and still haven't. I fixed it myself with 2 beer bottle-tops!! I also noticed that the user manual does not have the word Smeg in it once - this unit is not really made by Smeg it seems. Don't buy Smeg. I wrote the previous review “FAIL” where it was clear I was not happy. I was contacted by Smeg very promptly (thanks Lesley) and then a tech was sent out to fix my machine (thanks Matt). This was fixed out of warranty without a murmur (warranty was 2 years and we’d had it 2.5 years). Also, it appears that the fault we’d had was very unusual ... SO – full marks to you Smeg and your team :) However, I still have problems with the design fault which causes glasses/cups to fall over and break :( Roger
An Update. The E1 error came back and then flooded our kitchen with some damage. The water inlet… Read more (+2 replies)
Not great. Glasses keep breaking because they don't stack on the racks properly – The main reason for buying this dishwasher was that it was the lowest priced Fully Integrated model I could find. We recently renovated our kitchen and spent about $10k on appliances so budget was important. Firstly, it cleans as well as my previous dishwashers (Asko, Bosch and Westinghouse). The main fault is with the racks. There is a lot… Read more
of double handling because the items are constantly falling off the shelves i.e. .the main shelf for cups and mugs and glasses on the top shelf. So I may have a few items in there neatly stacked on the shelf, and every time you open the door and pull the rack out, they all topple over. So there is a major fault in the spacing of the "tynes" of the racks (I am not sure what you would call them) but let's compare them with the tynes of a fork which are too wide for the food you put on it. This may sound like a minor fault, but let me tell you that you end up constantly propping the stuff back up again and then you end up stacking it in a certain order i.e. propping stuff up with other crockery so that it doesn't keep falling over. It was a bloody pain when my inlaws were here 2 weeks after the dishwasher was installed because 4 people were sticking stuff in there and every time it was opened, everything topped over resulted in quite a few breakages of glasses.
Plus, the dinner plates don't fit in properly and keep smashing against the thing that turns around but on reading another review of Smeg, perhaps the shelf height is adjustable so I will have to have a look at this. I like my Smeg oven however so it's just the dishwashers that are poorly designed. Cleans well. Nice programmes. Bad racks.
