Sub?? what am I doing wrong – Brilliant set up, basic to use and has an insane sound. I only have one issue, my 350 watt Sony x-plod amp and 1800Watt Sony x-plod sub only work on the radio setting not the cd. Can anyone tell me what I have done wrong? Is a wiring issue or a settings issue?
great unit – this unit is brilliant, i brought for a cheap price of $99 (i think) from frankies auto electrics albion park.. this unit has been in 2 of my cars and have now given to mum for hers, first it was in my ford falcon with absolutely excellent sound the whole time it was in the car (speakers were only cheap ones to) it done hwat i wanted it to do at the time which was play cd's and plug in my old nokia via AUX, put in my hyundai excel with only 1 speaker working (due to cheap car with hardly any useful wiring left, speaker was not even mounted properly, it was just sliding around the parcel tray) and still managed to have fairly good sound, considering my really bad set up, then put in mums mitsubishi magna and it sounds great (for stock speakers) someone actually asked one day if i had subs in the car and only the two front 6" stock speakers were connected, i havent bothered with the back 6x9" as of yet and probably wont, it is easy to use, except for pressing the right side of the radio tune button (i never used but mums bf hates that) all in all this is a great unit for the price, and recommended for anyone who does not need usb or bluetooth connection cheap, great sound, easy to use, not to hard to set up no aux, no bluetooth... but i did not need at time of buying
Not user-friendly, very bad ergonomics – It is very hard to operate this CD, the function buttons are awkwardly placed, oddly shaped and not intuitive. The radio station selection buttons are very small, very close to each other and shaped like a parallelogram instead of rectangular - so it is hard to distinguish them while driving, very easy to press 2 at the same time, or press the wrong one.
A lot of buttons are multi-functional, but there is no logical or intuitive arrangement. Some buttons are of the type where pressing it on one side has a different function than pressing on the other side.
Switching the unit off requires a long press of a multi-fuction button. While this is usefull for e.g mobile phones where momentary accidental pressing is a risk, this is completely nonsensical for a car radio.
The display is very hard to read in daylight. It does not automatically adjust brightness.
This is a clear example where consideration of style and fashion in the design has ruined an otherwise good product.
The operation of this Radio CD player distracts from driving.
(The lay-out is the same for the CDX-GT303MP, CDX-GT300MP, CDX-GT300EB, CDX-GT30MP, so the same criticism applies to all) The radio reception and clarity is good, the MP3 player input is very convenient. Very hard to operate, not user-friendly, bad ergonomics (bad lay-out and operation of buttons)
I think this review is a unnecessarily harsh. I have no problems with the station select buttons or viewing the display on this unit. With all new stereo decks these days there exists the problem of multi-function controls to give a myriad of options. None of them seem to be particularly intuitive. I was worried that I would struggle with the controls of my new car stereo, as I do suffer brain injury. However it has not been a problem. I think the distraction of adjusting the controls while driving applies to all sophisticated stereos today. You should really limit yourself to just adjusting the volume and station / track selection while driving, and pre-set other settings. The bottom line here, as with all the latest gadgets is don't throw away the instruction manual, because you will need it!
Great unit with great control – Great upgrade, I upgraded to this unit using the sub/rear out to power swine 6x9 speakers using a pioneer GM-3500T, sounding great with heaps of bass. Also good how you can control the rear volume From the unit so I don't have to get out of the car to adjust the amp. Definitely recommend this unit. Sub volume, easy to wire in, mp3 input, looks good, sounds great

Found out the remote wire from the amp does not connect to the remote wire on the back of the head unit. I ended up joining the remote wire from amp to the cigarette lighter positive terminal. Works perfectly now.
