Sony RDRHX900

Good – I love it but I get frustrated by the copy protection. I edit my own home videos and burn them to DVD+R discs on my laptop, but I can't dump them into the Sony to make copies. Well built, easy to use, nice on-screen menus, good remote, playback while recording, massive hard-drive. Copy protection system. Can't dub DVDs recorded on other units into the Sony's hard drive, can't record Foxtel Box Office. Dubbing from hard-drive to disc then finalising is a slow process.

Excellent – This is one of the best bits of 'gadgetry' I think I have bought. To sit and look at the guide and record so much for watching when there is nothing on the TV [which is OFTEN !! ] is just great. Easy to use too. Such a very handy bit of technology

Good – Hard disc recoreders are what people should be looknig for when buying DVD recorders. With the ability ot paly and burn to both CDR/RW and DVDR/RW as well as to a Hard drive they offer the best possiblity to record all your favorite TV shows or even trasnfer your old VCR tapes to DVDR. Hows that you say. Well all VCR's have S-video connections as do DVD recorders, so its a simple cable connection from one to the other so you can convert all your loved VCR tapes to DVD's. This DVD recorder has Svideo, SCART and composite connections.

It burns all types of media and the hard drive can store weeks of shows on longplay. Great mix of features.

Terrible – at this price its not worth the hassles this has caused and the fact that repairs will cost 400 just for parts! not knowing if that might even be the problem! after it broke the novelty really wore off - HDD sys works still DVD doesnt DVD 'disc error' - drive still gets power but no response with any type of DVD disc - many users have reported this error - wheres the Recall? this is a bad batch of sony (liteon) drives i believe
