The monthly premiums are easy. The premium is such a good price. Half my previous house insurance. My claim for garage ceiling after waterstorm in October was treated as urgent and an inspector turned up within hours. A second leak in January was found. faults which I had done asap by my trade. Then the insurance took over. The tradesmen arrived on the right day & time. They were immaculately clean & tidy. My life was considered at every turn. They helped me with computer heiroglyfics that I understood and they helped me by phone answer & complete their forms. They moved furniture & stored my things in a pod. The supervisor arranged everything with me in the loop. The supervisor/s were on the phone at every aspect. Im so impressed. Brilliant amazing & im so greatful. Thank you thank you

Dont do it – Sales rep sells you on the features on your policy, only for the policy to "change" when it renews and the features they'd sold you on are no longer covered. Very deceptive with the policy renewal to not tell me of the changes and went to go make a claim and no longer covered. Extremely disappointed. Show details

Don't even think about it!! – Ok I'll try and be brief. St George is the retailer, Alienz is the underwriter and another company that goes by the name Mk3 PtyLtd is another company that actually handles the claims and who you will be dealing with in the event of a claim. Just Answer the Phone – Still waiting on hold and just ticked over 35 minutes. Blaming Covid which is now just a tired and pathetic excuse and fools no one. When I did get through I complained and also asked if I can access account online. He said no and then said this just the way it is. What a pathetic response to so called valuable customers. Show details

St George home insurance – I called & changed my direct debit bank details for my home insurance monthly direct debit. All recorded & repeated back to ensure the details were correct Two months later a letter arrived advising that I had defaulted twice so my policy had been cancelled so my home was uninsured during this time. When I called they asked for my account details… Read more

& admitted an additional number had been recorded so was their error. I was given 2 options- a) pay the arrears for the two months that I was uninsured due to their error & they would reinstate the policy b) start a new policy but the monthly cost would increase. When I questioned this given it was their error & asked to speak to the manager I was told I don't have a current policy therefore could not talk to a Manager directly. What industry gets away with charging for a service they did not provide? We all know that if my home burn down during that time they would not have covered me yet they want to charge for their error!!! Definately do not recommend this company!!!

Rip Off – We took out H&C with St G because they had our mortgage - thought it would make things easier. It didn't. It's badged as St George but it's with Westpac (now Allianz). Had I known that Westpac was involved I would have gone elsewhere. We made a claim in December 2020, although initially the claim is made to St George - from that point there after… Read more

its Westpac. The assessor said to me that the damage would be covered. Unsurprisingly his report said it was our fault and for this reason. Westpac rejected the claim. I tried ot call the representative form Westpac my call was answered by person who did not know the representative or his department (this is Westpacs mo). Contrary to Westpacs repeated insistence that we engage with their internal dispute process, we made a complaint to AFCA. Westpac's conduct dealing with AFCA was outright dishonest. After 7 months (delays attributable to Westpac's repeated submissions to AFCA) AFCA found in our favour. Now that Wesptac have been directed to pay on the policy that have simply refused to communicate with us. I called St George, unsurprisingly, they have no interest but tried to reassure me that if I renewed my St George policy for another year that it would be underwritten by Allianze, not Westpac. Thanks St George! Our house remains damaged. We have no choice but to submit a fresh complaint to AFCA (another 6 months). Westpac are and will always be criminals and St George are complicit. Westpac's practice is to deliberately delay within the intention of wearing me down so that eventually I will accept their partial offer of settlement.

Disgusting Insurance For Investment Properties. Disgraceful. WORST. Avoid At All Costs – Absolutely disgraceful insurance. Will do everything to avoid paying by pointing out the most ridiculous "policies" in their PDS. Lowest price quote and gave me money back – After receiving a crazy renewal price on my house and contents insurance from my previous insurer, I did a search to find a better deal. The man on the phone asked when I had moved, I said a couple of weeks ago (in my embarrassment for being so slack), he asked if I knew which exact date as he could refund me my over-payment. I looked up the exact date of settlement and told him the date and he said he will organise the refund for my over-payment and he forwarded me an email immediately cancelling my policy with my refund to follow. I am very impressed with this and will definitely seek another quote on my new house.

their tradesmen repair the damages to your home and pay their trades WAY BELOW the LEGAL WAGEs.

Claim Central have quoted me $211 to buy, install and cut to size solid core front door . THEY CANNOT BE SERIOUS - a front solid door is around $700 - $800 purchase and install.

Something is not Right here... When Claim Central provide you their Scope of Works and their assessment of repair costs, they are seriously allowing for budget repair works and NOT to the same value of the damaged goods to repair at todays costs. They provide you with under Budget rates so their trades can repair the damage to your home. Claim Central/St George do not provide you with a Scope of Works to the Recommended Retail Value when you are to repair the works yourself (cash settlement) and you will be paying RRP doing the repairs yourself.

Long story short. St George do not give a stuff about clients and are hiding behind Claim Central who provide you with Budget repair pay out so they can have their Win with St George/Westpac. So the cheaper payout they give us, the premium paying customers, the better for StGeorge/Westpac.

the Sager continues. DONT HOLD YOUR BREATH.. no one returns your call.

St George insurance given me stress – After a month of trying to claim for my bed and washing machine, finally said they will approve, after waiting 5 working days, I rang them they said my clam is rejected, because my bed is very expensive. First they wanted proof or purchase, which I gave, then they wanted quote as to say they are not repairable or useable, I gave them both, they… Read more

rejected the quote I got from Myers, said it wasn't proper quote, I went to another store for another quote, rang St George back, she said cannot except it, cause it dose not describe the bed, by this time I was fuming, I said to her 'do you want me to bring the bed to Barangaroo' where they are located. She said she needs to see the label of the bed, I sent that as well. She said ok I approve it. After waiting 5 days, them not calling me back to say, it is not approved because the bed is way to expensive

Let me ask you, the washing machine I bought for $1,100, they said they will only pay me $636, which I excepted, now if the bed I had a quote for much higher than I bought why are they not excepting that.

I am still waiting on the outcome, if they reject it, I have no choice but to go to Ombudsman, this has stressed me out so much, my nerves in my body are all cross wired, I waited for 1 month for the washing machine, not being able to wash my clothes, now waiting for the bed.

St. George Insurance corrupt – Disgraceful and corrupt would be the best I would be able to describe St. George home insurance. claims should we ever need them to be. I digress let me regale you with my St. George experience.

Some months ago a severe rain event here in Brisbane caused water to enter the rear of my home through gaps created between eaves and roof iron by high winds. I took video footage of the water leaking from the top of the entirety of the rear internal wall cornice down onto the floor below. This footage clearly demonstrated not only the fact that the several areas of the roof had been compromised, but also water damage to timber mouldings, gyprock roof sheet, and associated floor skirting, swollen floor boards, paint blistering etc.

My response was to immediately call and lodge a claim with St. George, all very helpful so far. After 14 days with no movement from St. George I engaged a reputable builder to assess the damage, and repair same to a standard where there would be no repeat. The total damage bill for all reparations, and restoration to the areas compromised by the aforementioned significant rain event (clearly covered if you are to believe the Product Disclosure Documents) came to $3 200. I sent the repair bill to St. George insurance via email quoting the reference number provided by the claims person I initially spoke to. Shortly there after I am called by one of the most arrogant females I have ever had the displeasure to speak with, who basically told me that the entire invoice amounted to nothing more than maintenance and as such my claim would not be honored. So I BLEW UP telling her perhaps she might consider calling the builder and getting the information in relation to the work done before rejecting my claim without a shred of credible evidence.

Two entire months go by, the builder had informed me that he had been contacted and that St. George had agreed that my claim was appropriate in the circumstances. I finally get a call from St. George who tell me that they would be honoring my claim but only for the damage component of the invoice, which in their estimate amounted to $605 only - they then tell me that it would not be prudent for me to proceed with the claim due to the fact that given my excess was $500 it would not be worth losing my no claim bonus status, and associated revised increased premium schedule, for a meager $102. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!

If you have an ounce of self preservation do not trust ST. GEORGE insurance (WESTPAC underwriters by the way) as they will rip you off without the least bit of human decency. I am in the throws of taking all of my financial eggs out of the St George/Westpac basket and moving over to alternative smaller lenders (NOT the BIG FOUR). I guess over the term of the rest of my life any interest/premiums that I might have paid them will not matter one bit but with the assistance of 'Product Review' I may be able to assist others in some small way. Good luck with your insurance claims in the future but prepare to be disappointed as the entire Australian insurance industry is corrupt and morally bankrupt.

Shouldn't take so long when you produce receipts and manuals for stolen items. To top it off. They told me that I can't claim on my spare car keys as its a car accessory. So had to make a claim on my car insurance for my keys to be re keyed.before the thieves came back and stole my 2012 car. Cost me the first $400.00. Total cost of re keying $1200.00. Misleading - they do not cover what they verbally advise they do – I took out StGeorge (also known as Westpac General Insurance) building and landlords insurance for a house I bought. carpet isn't covered, they don't class carpet as a fixed floor covering. Apparantly this proviso was in the fine print of the PDS they mailed me and even though it contradicts the verbal information they gave me they will not honour my claim.

I fell into their trap - don't do that same thing, read their PDS online before you take the insurance and don't beleive a word they tell you verbally as they are not accountable. These guys deserve a shonky award for this misleading behaviour. I have lodged a complaint with the Financial Services Ombudsman to try and prevent this happening to someone else.
