The coating – Although well made ,the non stick coating does not last ...and then the product becomes largely useless. Sunbeam .....please update this product with a proper coating that will last . otherwise it doesn't stack up. Show details

Awesome. Just awesome – I picked this up because I was looking for something light and small that wouldn't heat my small flat in summer. I was surprised at just how awesome this little skillet turned out to be. As a single older person, I ate mostly the same droll fodder every day. Dinner times were nothing more than an annoying messy chore. Then, after unpacking this… Read more ·  1

little beauty, I'm whipping up everything from slow cooks, roasts, casseroles and steaks to sausage and egg breakkies. Suddenly dinner is my favourite time of the day. It makes a perfect serving for 2, giving me every 2nd night off. The non stick is fantastic, less oil needed and the clean up is just too easy with a soft sponge. Please Sunbeam, don't ever change to a glass lid. The metal dome keeps the whole appliance as light as a feather and ensures the perfect roast. This is also an absolute blessing for those of us that cannot physically manage heavy appliances. The controls are perfect. I had it nailed on the first use. It's large enough for 2 but compact enough for easy storage and little bench space. Thank you Sunbeam. I'm now eating beautiful healthy, delicious home cooked meals every night for the first time in nearly 20 years.

Owned and used regularly for 5 years – I can't be 'just lucky', can I? This skillet was accidentally bequeathed to me when a housemate moved out. I found it stashed in my pots n' pans cupboard, in it's box - brand new, months after he'd moved out. Anywho, I've used nothing but timber and silicon utensils on/with it, and it's still in tip-top shape to this day. I've got a Kambrook Deep… Read more ·  1

Banquet fry pan that's deteriorated after just 12 months (same utensils used on it). This Sunbeam is hardy af in regards to the non-stick coating. I've cooked tonnes of different stuff in it, the temperature/thermostat control is awesome for something so cheap! Goes from super low, to rip-roaring lava, get acquainted with the settings and you'll be pulling off perfect dishes. One of my favourites is slow cooked thick gourmet snags. Throw them in, spray or pour a touch of oil (just enough to see them glisten), put the temp on 2 or 3 depending on how much quicker you need them done, throw the lid on, turn every 15 mins, and BAM! Perfect snags after approx an hour! Or, just put it on 6 and cook them like the commoners... But trust me, slow cooked snags are a treat to behold. This skillet pulls off a mean omelette too. Best one I've ever done is thanks to this bad boy, the lid helps get the centre done just right so it's not runny in the middle. Kebabs, pork chops, lamb mid-loins, mushrooms & onion, bone-in chicken thighs, pork & beef scotch fillets, bun toasting, all sortsa stuff comes out perfectly. Once you get used to the thermostats settings, this skillet becomes one of the family. 2 thumbs up, definitely recommended!

- the kind folk at sunbeam offered me a new one or refund! – Am full of praise for the immediate attention I got from sunbeam, I have not used the replacement one but with exceptional service from both the head office and the young lady at Harvey norman I am sure all will be just fine. Thanks so much for stepping in so quickly in resolving this for me. Ignore the initial comments below I cant… Read more ·  1

begin to tell you how happy I was when I bought home the skillet, the first few times it was superb, easy to clean and apart from the stupid extra thing that is part of the cord I was delighted. But now after about three weeks its decided to not work properly, no heat on min or min-med, zilch nothing, if I turn it up to max then yep I get heat, burning heat. Such a disappointment. I will be taking it back .

Good starter appliance for growing kids – Ok read many reviews, seen the issue with the non-stick coating. Practically all I have ever bought from Sunbeams classic range lose their non stick integrity and need to be handled with the right cooking tools but also, they will deteriorate over time. Still they have lasted long enough for me to keep geting them. As far as the metal lids go,… Read more

they are in my opinion are nostalgic tinny covers that cannot be cleaned easily to honour the cheap lids of old 1950's cookware. They do their job but are the first things to look bad in the shortest possible ownership time.

This model is good for kids learning to cook as they may be on their phones or get distracted but at least the temp control is there. Give them a gas hob and a fire will start. I bought it for that reason.

Not one Sunbeam I have ever owned has had an element fail, this I think is more due to the sensible watts density of the element and the casting methods. The units are washable safe, as long as you dry them adequately.

What I find not useful is that they have gone away from a temperature dial and replaced it with low / med ; high decals. Now while the temp range it the same, it is far more useful to have this Sunbeam, a low med high is for an energy regulator (simmerstat control) and not for a thermal probe control. Why??

If you want them to last let them cool down after cooking, wipe them out with paper towels and then wash them in warm water, dont thermally shock the cast plates when they are hot.

Now for a grumble.... Sunbeam why did you remove FP5900P from sale and keep the FP5910? Same base but different lids. The FP5900P has a high dome lid and is more useful for roasting where as the low lid makes the unit the most pointless unfriendly appliance ever. I cant find them anywhere and no one stocks them.

Classic cooking – The classic skillet does everything you've come to expect from sunbeam products .it distributes the heat evenly .no burnt edges ,no underdone parts .the control is so easy to use . and most importantly so easy to clean .it is so much more convenient to use and store than the bigger frypans ,it is the modern way to go .  Show details

Not happy with this skillet – I also bought a ceramic base skillet from the Good Guys. At first it worked well, but after two/three weeks the base was scratched and has food stains embedded in those cracks. Not happy with sunbeam anymore and would certainly consider buying goods that don’t not bear the sunbeam name or other products made by sunbeam. Dissatisfied customer Kathy P  Show details

I'm not happy at all – This skillets coating is sub standard. The coating is coming off and it just gets worse and worse. It also pitted. Battle to cook food in it. Scrambled eggs are sticking to surface. I am a pensioner and thought this was one of the best makes but sadly disappointed. No money to buy another one.  Show details

Very Disappointing! – Bought this skillet hoping it would be better than the ordinary non- stick one and was extremely disappointed as it had tiny chips in it and they multiplied on heating and also didn't like the way it burnt the food. Returned it to Harvey Norman for a replacement. Replacement was worse than the first one, more chips, so returned it also and… Read more

received a refund.

Thanks Harvey Norman for the great service and not sure if we were just unlucky or these skillets are a flop.

Disappointing – Bought the sunbeam duraceramic skillet. Loved it cooks great easy to clean, however 3weeks into use the ceramic coating was scratch and began to crack, cracks deep enough to put a fingernail in. I purchased another thinking this was just related this unit. However today three weeks later, I am going to return this unit as it cracked last night.… Read more

There was no mark on the base at the start of cooking. Even though it says more durable and scratch resistant I only use silicone implements this is the second skillet to do this. I am very disappointed because this skillet is just a perfect size for the two of us.

Sunbeam Classic Skillet – This is my second Sunbeam Classic Skillet, my last one lasted over 7 years. A great skillet for easy, quick cooking for breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack. This skillet is great for those who meal prep, cooking chicken thigh/breasts, beef or pork along with vegetables stir-fry's, scrambled eggs, bacon for those mouth watering BLT with cheese. only down side to this unit is the outdated lid, Sunbeam please listen, a a glass dome would be way better. The skillet is very easy to wash, I have a small kitchen at the moment and it fits easily inside to clean.

What a disappointment – Mine went into the garbage after about 12 month's usage. Non stick surface peeled off and silver lid was difficult to clean, losing colour. Money down the drain. My normal Sunbeam frypan was great until my partner accidentally ran over it on a picnic...it was more than 5 years old.  Show details

Fabulous! Handy, great size, easy to clean, quick to heat up. So convinient! – I love this skillet. For a small family of two, this size is just perfect. We don't have a dishwasher & this size suits the kitchen sink for washing perfectly. It is so easy for a quick wash & becomes perfectly clean immediately. It works so well without any issues whatsoever. To protect its non-stick coating, I only use a silicone fryspoon, which… Read more ·  1

will never leave any marks, scratches or damage on the coating. So it will last longer.

I have beeing using it for more than 3 months (about 3 to 4 times a week on average). I love this skillet more than the cast iron frypan I got. It is reasonablely light-weighted yet works so well. I have to say that it suits female home cooks much better :) Those extremely expensive & heavy cast iron frypans I got are so difficult to hold and move around. But this skillet never gives me headaches like that. LOL.

We don't roast meat at home, mainly Asian style cooking. So the dome lid may never be used. I would like a glass lid compared to the non-see-through dome lid, as I love & need to see the food to know the cooking process sometimes. Luckily we have many glass lids at home. Some of them fit onto this skillet perfectly. Therefore it is not really an issue for me. One day, maybe when I am in the mood to learn roasting, I would love to try that cute dome lid though.

Non-stick? Non. Sticks – After 40 yrs of Sunbeam Aluminium Skillet - finally upgraded to non-stick Classic (to dodge Al poisoning) - what a disappointment after approx 3 mths (after first Salmon steak ) - blackened surface and everything sticks after that. Read the reviews - maybe no durable non-stick electrics exist of any brand.

disappointed – I have long been a Sunbeam brand lover & have appreciated my skillet for both size & convenience. My last Skillet lasted me for 7 years & I only tossed it out after it lost 1 leg & became unsafe. I purchased a new Sunbeam skillet & I threw it out after just 6 months due to the dreadful smell while in use. It had nothing to do with a high… Read more

temperature as I have seen Sunbeam reps blame in reviews, & the non-stick lining was bubbling & peeling soon after purchase. Sunbeam have really gone down in quality & standard. I could not possibly give them a good rating unfortunately & will look for a new skillet in different brand after checking reviews first.

A kitchen appliance must have! – I have owned one for ever and replace every few years. Never experienced any of the smell issues recorded here. I have purchased for all my family - they too are full of compliments - no issues whatsoever with any purchase, everybody totally loves this live without Sunbeam product .

Compact and efficient – There is not much bench space in my kitchen and this little skillet is ideal. Heats up quickly and is big enough for one person. Easy to clean.

Chemical Smell – This pan has a strong chemical smell when it is hot. I have used it 5 times and it smells bad while I am cooking and taints the flavour of the food. I have tried smearing it with oil and heating it up as suggested by Sunbeam Support Team and i have tried boiling milk as suggested below but the chemical smell persists. I have now thrown it in the rubbish bin

Good – Wouldn't be without it, very convenient for those quick meals. Easy clean and storage. One you can take on holidays without taking up too much room. Handy size for single people or small family. Fits average size chicken for roasting. Excellent for breakfast dishes and easy to clean. Low power consumption, only 1200 watts on high. Would like a glass lid that fits perfectly. Dome lid great for roasting but not too good for poaching eggs.
