I hate that this mixer does not always turn off properly... the unit can start up while I'm trying to press the button to remove the beaters! A review from 7 years ago commented on the lack of length in the cord. SUNBEAM commented that they have noted this, but 7 years later... still a crumby 1m cord. If it hadnt been a gift, I'd never have bought it myself! The only positive so far is the power boost for whipping. Show details
Anything else would be better – I can't believe this product is still available. It's terrible. Bought one from Good Guys a few years ago, used it to whip cream maybe 3 times before the motor burnt out. Complete rubbish relying on the fond memories people have of Sunbeam from before it was just more garbage from China Show details

Nope. Just dont – My wife bought one of these around 4 years ago. It wasnt bad at all to start out with, until the plastic handle gradually got looser and looser. I finally decided to pull this thing apart to see if I could repair the handle. What I found when I dismantled it was that the rubber coating on the handle was the only thing that kept it from totally… Read more
disintegrating. The rubber coating itself was peeling off, and degrading really badly, and the plastic underneath the rubber had literally started crumbling with cracks through it everywhere. The quality of the plastic was obviously very poor, and thin, and totally not up to the task. Neither one of us remembers it being dropped, so that takes the accidental damage issue out of the equation. I contacted Sunbeam hoping to be able to buy a replacement handle, but to no avail. Otherwise, its been a pretty good thing, but I have binned it as it wasnt otherwise safe to use.

Great little hand mixer – Have this hand mixer for 4 years. Hasn’t missed a beat. Easy to use and handy size. Love the retro look. Comes with 3 sets of tools beating, whipping and hook sort of looking. The only negative thing is the cord would like it to be a bit longer. Show details · 1
Much quieter than other hand beaters I've used – I've been very happy with these hand beaters. I like to cook, and often use them: cakes, pancakes, bread, meringues etc Firstly, they are quieter than all my previous hand beaters. The lower settings are quite tolerable for even my children to hear (the higher settings not so much!). They're easy to clean and come out great in the dishwasher. … Read more · 5
Haven't used the whisks, much - I prefer to hand whisk or use the single whisk attachment on my stick mixer.
I'm not a fan of the dough hooks. It leaves a huge vibration in your hands, hence I've only used them twice! The vibration on the normal beaters, however, is extremely manageable - I've had no issues with it and in fact do not notice any vibration problems when/after using it.
I LOVE that it has an overheat function! I thought I'd broken them once (it was a thick mixture!) and was so surprised that they worked again later on. I've had so many small appliances die from overheating that it was a welcome change!
I guess the cord could certainly be longer. Not everyone has electrical sockets at the right places in the kitchen.
It IS a bit annoying that you have to pull each beater out by hand; there is no beater release button. So long as you grip them properly and at the right place, one does not make a mess!
It's kind of good the way it stands straight up when you're not using it - no more resting on the mixing bowl! The only downside is when you have dripping mixture...and then you have to hope your mixing bowl is low enough for the beaters to rest over it, otherwise you mess up the kitchen bench a lot.
Overall, I really like these. I never wanted a proper Mixmaster as I like to be able to manoeuver the mixture myself.
Like it so far – I bake occasionally so for me the motor performance has been good. Power cord is not very long. Good enough to make whipped cream and simple cake recipes. Haven't tried it with dough recipes. Like the fact that it's simple, easy to clean and store away (for those who have small storage space). Show details

Burnt out too soon – Our mix master burnt out under normal load last weekend. We used it occasionally for making cakes and cookies - nothing that would place much strain on the unit. The other con is the very short power cord - made it really hard for the kids to reach the bowl to help mix without climbing up onto the bench top. Plastic body deteriorated and became sticky from the poor plastic quality.
I expected more from the name of Mixmaster but unusable eject button for beaters is a dud – My wife had been talking about buying a top-of-the-line, planetary mixer but when I saw this unit at Coles for $50 I figured it was worth a try to not only replace the old generic, supermarket brand hand-held mixer but because it came with whisks and dough hooks, but maybe also convince her that we didn't need another space-consuming gadget to… Read more
add to the "Multi-Wizz" , the "Thermo Thingy", "Blast Blenders" & stick mixers we already have. From the picture on the box, it looked just like the Mixmaster my Mum had when I was a kid (which probably still works,) & I figured that Sunbeam wouldn't put the name of their flagship product on a POS no matter how cheap it sells for. When we got it home we began to check out the various attachments but didn't get past the 1st set because there was no way to push the "Easy Eject" (as Sunbeam call it,) button using just my thumb. After trying various ways to get the button down, we decided that the mixer was faulty (after all... The box & manual said "Easy Eject button: To effortlessly release the beaters, etc...",) and returned it to Coles for an exchange. This time I opened the box before I left the store & made sure that the eject button was easy to push in. Unfortunately, that only lasted a short while. By the 2nd time we used it, our Mixmaster was almost impossible to remove the beaters from. As other reviewers have mentioned, the only practical way to do it is to press the button as hard as possible and pull on the beaters at the same time (which kind-of defeats the idea of having an "Easy Eject" button,) and learnt very quickly to switch off the power-point if you don't want to get covered in batter/cream/whatever, or possibly lose a finger as you inadvertently start the mixer up while trying to press on the button. Didn't anyone at Sunbeam try this model before putting it on the market? In most other ways, it's adequate for the tasks one uses a hand mixer for, with 6 speeds + a boost button for a little extra grunt, although it IS pretty under-powered. I used it to make a cheesecake on the weekend and it had trouble mixing the room-temperature cream cheese & sugar. The whisks do a great job beating eggs & whipping cream. We can't comment on the dough-hooks as we haven't tried kneading dough with it yet but I'm a little skeptical considering its performance with the cream-cheese. All-in-all, the Mixmaster Classic Hand Mixer is probably a little over-priced to compete with similarly powered, Made in China products which are often less than 1/2 its price but it DOES look good and it works (so long as you don't ask too much of it,) but the issue with the combined 6 speed control & Eject button means I can't recommend it to anyone... It's dangerous. My wife still intends to buy a planetary action mixer set.
Overheat and keep stopping – It keeps overheating and stopped in the middle of beating. Can't handle longer than 4 mins. Then you have to wait until it cool down to start up again. Just a waste of money. Show details

Good mixer but handle is peeling plastic and beaters have rusted – It's a shame the body is peeling plastic because it's a great hand mixer. Unfortunately I can't use it anymore because the plastic falls into food while mixing. Also, the beaters have rusted which puts rust into anything you mix. Had it for a few years now and haven't had any issues with the motor or mixing. I tried contacting Sunbeam about it a while ago and didn't get a response. Show details

Rusted after just a few months – Got this hand mixer from my husband. It is quite hard to remove the attachments. Should have a separate eject button. As I have a stand mixer, I only use the balloon whisk to make my Dalgona coffee and sometimes whip cream. Made from stainless steel but it was rusted after few months used. Disappointed with the product. Show details
It rusts!! – The stainless attachment started to get rust even before 1 year! Now It’s health and safety issue and I can’t use it at all. I contacted the customer service but they never got back to me. It’s waste of money. DO NOT buy this product! Show details

Major Design Faults (I expected better) – There are 2 design faults with this hand mixer. One is that the beater eject button is also the off/on/speed switch, so it took me a while to learn to switch off at the wall before ejecting the beaters as a few times I accidentally sprayed mixture everywhere. The other fault is that the handle is covered in some type of plastic that disintegrates… Read more
over time and now has grey bits coming off into the mixture. It is only a few years old and always been stored in a cool kitchen. The motor still works fine but it is not really suitable to use. I'm disappointed, as Sunbeam is usually a good brand which lasts longer than this.

Lasted maybe 5 uses over 14 months, then died – Bought this at The Good Guys in May 2019. Used it maybe 5 times over the next 14 months and then it just stopped working. Don't waste your money / time, buy a better model. I didn't buy an extended warranty (rarely do) so I was out of luck. Show details
False Advertising – This is advertised as a powerful 350W motor when in fact the one I received is only 235W. As I purchased the red one a few years ago myself and was completely happy with it, I decided to redeem my Flybuys points to get this one for my daughter. So I was completely taken back to discover the blatant false advertising of this product. See picture… Read more
for proof, very clearly states the model JM6600 and 235W, yet is advertised on Sunbeam's website (and Flybuys rewards) as 350W. Even the enclosed manual that came with the mixer states 235W. How many others have been fooled?

Keep stopping once heat up a little – Everytime I use it for making frosting it just stopped after a few time. I have to wait until it cool down then it start working. It's not even hot. Very terrible and annoying.
This was a dud – I bought this mixer, paid full price. I have had it for a week and it won't start. I have complained to Sunbeam who just want to send marketing material. I don't want a 'replacement'; I don't trust that it will work given the comments I have read. Show details

Absolutely hopeless... do not purchase – Cord is ridiculously short. I used it about 6 times within a year of purchase and it died completely. It will not even turn on. It was just out of warranty and Sunbeam will not offer a replacement or anything at all. It was expensive compared to other brands... and very disappointing in quality. Will never purchase another Sunbeam product again. Show details

Only for very light use – Bought this to whip eggs for a pavlova, which it did OK (about 10 minutes to soft peak stage). Then tried 'dough hooks' to blend flour with liquid bread ingredients - big mistake. Dough flew everywhere including up the shafts into the innards of the mixer. Tried matchsticks and cotton buds to clean dough out of interior, but every time we put… Read more
the beaters into the mixer, they come out coated with a thick layer of dough. We agree with the other posters who described this as ill-designed and grossly overpriced. Oh for the days when you could buy an American or Japanese mixer for $15 that worked perfectly for the next 20 years! We will be returning this to the store, no idea what to replace it with.
What happened to Sunbeam? – My Philips hand mixer died after 25 years, so I purchased this. Firstly the cord is way too short. This is hopeless if you don't have a power point in a convenient place. I also like to run my dirty mixer in the sink to clean it. Secondly, I had real trouble ejecting the beaters - can you only eject them when it is unplugged? Anyway I returned it and am still on the hunt for a decent one. Show details

Broke after 1st use - design flaw – Unfortunately, was at first, disappointed with really short cord, noisy on low speeds and not quite as powerful as expected. But after the 1st ejection of the beaters, it stopped working (the start/speed button not working) : the Eject button is the same button as the Start/change speeds button! You are just supposed to push it down - so it is… Read more

Flimsy Beaters – First set of beaters broke inside warranty so they were replaced, after waiting 3 months! Next set broke just outside warranty. The beaters are extremely flimsy and not up to even the simplest of jobs. As stated by others the cord is way too short. Would never buy this model again. Show details

Dud – Bought for my wife last Friday motor burning and cutting out just beating eggs.taking back today 1 week old better get money back and will try another brand. The last one went for a couple of years. I don't know if I was just unlucky to get a bad one but I wouldn't buy again Show details
Over Heats and short cord – Its a good set of beaters if you are making a quick cake as i bought them for making fudge but they over heated way to fast and i had to resort back to my elcheapo coles brand i bought years ago to finish the job. im a bit dissapointed that they werent better. Lowest speed is actually quite fast - don't expect lift the the beat up without slashing around
The beaters release not really working- have to pull the beaters out
Design of buttons make it easy to trigger boost mode but hard to adjust speed with greasy hand
So far so good – Just bought this item from Myer on sale at $34. Looks good but have only used it once for a short while. Power on 1 is pretty fast. Cord is qt short too. Otherwise pretty happy. Only read about negative reviews after buying this. Hope I won't encounter these problems. Show details
Terrible product - Absolute Junk - DO NOT BUY this model – This would not even rate as being good value at $5 at a garage sale! Not worth the power it consumes. Didn't last two minutes :/ – Bought it because of the extra attachments and power. But didn't last two minutes without overheating. What a disappointment! Don't they have quality control. Worst mixer ever! – I purchased this mixer as it was advertised as having a strong engine but this is the worst mixer I have ever purchased. Secondly, like another user said, the engine constantly overheats or shuts down… Read more
for 15mins when it is simply beating butter and sugar or icing! This is infuriating when you are half way through making a batch and it stops working! At first I thought it was just the one I purchased so I took it back but my next one did the same thing.
Honestly this is the worst beater I've ever purchased!
Good but stinks – Fantastic motor came with all units and blends well but absolutely stinks if you don't clean it thoroughly afterwards. Would purchase from any reasonable price and use it for almost anything I need. Fastest speed worked like clockwork mixing almost anything as along as it is used well and properly. Show details
Great Mixer. but – Bought this hand mixer as my old hand one was a little weak. Very happy with this Sunbeam one, like the boost button also. My onky gripe is, is that the power cord is very short?? Why, why, why?? Very frustrating as you have to stand next to a power point, pretty silly Sunbeam! Good mixer apart from that. Show details
