Superbike that is comfortable, fast and cheap – Bought a 1991 GSX750F with 35K kms on the clock. One owner. All up cost 3 grand (With new tyre, new chain and tune and service). Club plated for $70. I am amazed at how well this bike performs. I have owned more than 30 bikes and this is the best all round. Tractable at low revs, pulling away cleanly, and with enough grunt. When you take it past… Read more

6000 revs it is thrilling to ride. Flickable and fast and it tracks really well and is really comfortable over distance. I cannot believe that a bike over 25 years old is so capable.

Love it and sometimes hate it – Mine is a 98 gsxf, first the good. Power is great, seating position is great, parts are cheap for it. Its not bad on fuel and its basically indestructible. Now the bad. The vibration through the handle bar can be painful on long journeys. It is a heavy bike and moving it around the garage car be tricky sometimes The fuel tank rusts out… Read more

underneath.

Aftermarket performance parts are few and far between.

Having said thati love it and sometimes hate it.

But i wouldn't get rid of it.

Great budget sport tourer.

Great Tourer – I own one of these bikes. Great bike to ride, excellent gearbox, great top speed, a little sluggish on acceleration though. Practically impossible to wreck so strong. very comfortable for a pillion passenger plenty of room. Do not baby this bike though it needs to be ridden and put through its paces it will reward you, remember it is a 750 so don't putt around on it. this bike is a sports tourer and is great for touring.  Show details

Affordable Suzuki – At 52 years (female) had my Suzuki now for six months and after a 16 year break find it solid on the road and cornering, smooth gear changes and plenty of power. The seat is very comfortable and mirrors (extended 1") allow good vision past arms. Slightly heavier than modern bikes but when used to the weight slow riding (walking pace) and faster is a breeze. Would recommend to anyone wanting a secondhand bike for lots of fun.  Show details

1998.fair to good uk roads – Having owned the 98 fw to present observations are headlights 3/10 horrible as no. prefocus especially up side lanes so no obvious definition on farmers crap and debris and bloody dangerous in the rain. Handling is ok for twisty bits but don't attempt comparison to Duke sd 900 or sensible big ticket bikes. Build quality is crap and trim fasteners… Read more

are made of plasticine (replace with Honda ones) rot resistance minimal and brakes seize quickly. Plastic doesn't lie up and beware electric problems due to muppet assembly from factory. My lights kept fusing due to incorrect loom route.

Good points great twist and go fun. Comfy ride position especially over distance. Good mpg return and cheap 2nd hand price.

It won't grab the girls but will certainly annoy yam and Honda owners in a lights shoot off.

93 gas guzzler – Have a 93 Kat 750 and it's a gas guzzler put this way just spent $$$$ on carb balance sync and full service and can barely get 100 miles out full tank. No matter how careful I am on throttle I have owned 20 bikes and this particular bike is near the bottom of list.  Show details

2000 klm opinion – I live in Melbourne and own a GSXR750 there which I take to Broadford occasionally and do the regular Melbourne country roads. Visiting NSW in the Singleton area I found myself the opportunity to borrow and ride A GSX750F over a week and a bit. The rest of this review can go down to bullet points. Putty road observations - holds stable… Read more

and well cornering through any of the bends at 80-100k/h.

- except for the 35k/h posted bends of course. You'll start scraping the peg stem on the left hand side (i think it is there to protect centre stand) at 60ish plus.

- I guess you could take the centre stand off and unscrew the peg stem to make things more sport orientated.

Long touring observatins

- I found the suspension very good and versitile.

-30 km of well looked after dirt roads with some tight winding corners were handled very well and comfortably. I found there was room and the ergos of the bike even allow you to stand up on the pegs and go a bit enduro!

-20 cm deep river crossing (cemented causeway) went right across twice no worries.

-At 6 foot I find the bike very comfortable. -No noticable vibrations for me

- did a 6 hour 400 km trip including lots of winding roads of good and bad quality including dirt and 110km/h freeway. Felt fine and comfortable at the end of the ride. (Much unlike riding the gsxr that long)

-Looks wise I think it grows on you quickly especially when you realise the practicality of things. That big bulbus front fairing? Notice how dry you still are after that drizzle? Those goofy looking headlights. Notice how good the high beam light is?

-Engine is very smooth and quiet and has plenty of hustle. Things get very buzzy and pointless after about 9k rpm though. Which is fine however just upshift and ride the smooth torque as you are supposed to with this tuning.

-Breaks are fine at road legal speeds - it'll slow to 40/h from 100 in a very short space with enough feel through the lever to know what is going on with the pads and rotors. (You'll feel the initial engage etc)

-I tried pulling it up as hard as I could a few times. It did fine but the gearbox will get crunchy and in knots a bit. If you can find the composure to downshift while breaking very hard you should fair better.

Other notes

- has adjustable suspension but i never played with it. Aint broke...

- very good pillion comfort. Pillion grab rails. As rider you probably wont even notice pillon.

-Easy to clean not many fidly nooks and crannies.

-Great seat, comfort, still enables sporty riding.

Get one for 4 grand with a rack and sack and be amazed where you can go with it.

Reasonable Tourer but cheap enough – I only had this bike a few months, and as a huge Suzuki fan I was disappointed. The engine is strong enough but there are too many vibes through the footpegs and clip ons. The frequency of the vibration was enough to cause pins and needles in my right wrist. I also didn't like the seating position which I felt was to cramped (like a sports bike)… Read more

which my dodgey knee didn't like. The cockpit layout is good, with a Speedo, Tacho, Fuel Guage and a clock (yay). The seat is super comfy though and it is unlikely you will get a sore but after a few hundred k's. For my 173cm height, I found the reach to the bars a bit of a stretch putting allot of pressure on your wrists. It is also very, very heavy, which is not felt on the road but is when you are trying to manovre it round in the garage. IMO, a ZZR600 (which I have now) is a better bike, better riding position, more mid range and top end and heaps smoother. Seat, cockpit layout, price and suzuki reliability Vibes through bars and pegs, cramped seating position, pretty ugly styling, very very heavy

Excellent – GREAT value for money bike. Not the greatest at anything, but VERY good at everything. Looks and sounds good. Super reliable and bulletproof motor that has been well proven since the early GSXR's. Personal preferance only, but I think the speedo is more important than the tacho, so would suit me better if Speedo was larger and in the… Read more

centre, with tacho smaller and to the left. Clock could be larger/easier to read (old age/failing eyes). Is a sports/TOURER, so I will fit an aftermarket screen that is slightly longer/higher/more vertical. Original screen is sports designed, so doesn't give quite enough wind protection for my liking. Would also prefer a tad more width to the fairing to give more wind protection to the knees/foot areas. These are minor issues of a personal preferance nature, and might not be issues to other riders. Overall I'm VERY happy with the bike, and give it a high recommendation. VERY comfortable for my 175cm, average build frame. 6 litres per 100klm at 100-120kph touring. Open the throttle at 90kph in top gear and it pulls all the way to 200kph without complaint. VERY comfortable seat and positions for both rider & pillion. Slight vibration through the handlebars and rider's footpegs between 90-120 kph. Hi/Lo beam switch a tad difficult with thick gloves on, could be in a better position.

Excellent – Make no mistake this is no 600 supersport killer! but what you get for your money is a competant sport/tourer that will eat miles by the bucket load , is a darn site more comfy than said 600 supersport but will put up a good fight on smooth roads but gets a bit out of hand on the bumpy stuff ( thats the budget bit of it ) great motor , get rid of… Read more

the standard zorst and release the top end rev's , an Xcellent 1st big bike ( DON'T get the 600 ). Nice comfortable roomy bike , performs very well considering it's a budget sport/tourer , i use mine all year round 4 work/play/touring etc , you won't find a better bike for the money , a second hand bargain! Calipers seize if used during winter ( find me a bike with calipers that don't ) doesn't like high side winds , could do with slightly heavier gearing too knock 750rpm off when cruising at high speed.
