TDK ST-550

One out of ten for ear comfort – The claim of full size ultra comfortable earcups is FALSE,If you are looking for earcups that encircle the ear and keep the speaker cone off the ear, DONT BUY the TDK st-550. The earcups are small and round and sit on the ear, after a short time the pressure on the earlobes makes the earlobes sore. Also because the cups are on top of the ears they are not sound-proof enough for studio recording.

Going on the sales description I bought the st-550 and was very disappointed and they will end up in the rubbish bin.

For the past couple of years I have used the TDK st-450 headphones,the earcups are oval which encircle the ear which keeps all pressure off the earlobe and can be worn for hours without getting sore ears. The encircling cups are good in regards to studio recording preventing unwanted sounds reaching the microphone. They have a little bit too much bass but overall have good sound.

Unfortunately the TDK ST-450 are a discontinued line.

Looks like I have to keep searching for the real earcups that encircle the ears.
