 AI reviews summary

Feedback for Ticketek Australia shows a stark divide between the high quality of live performances and significant frustration with the ticketing platform and its support. While users frequently praise the staging, talent, and production value of events like Hadestown, Katy Perry, and Waitress, these positive experiences are often overshadowed by a purchasing process described as stressful and unreliable. Recurring technical failures and a perceived lack of human customer support are the primary drivers of negative sentiment.

Pros
  • Exceptional Production Quality: Performances across music, theatre, and comedy are consistently described as spectacular, featuring world-class talent, impressive staging, and high-quality sound and lighting.
  • User-Friendly App Features: When the system works, users appreciate the convenience of digital tickets, mobile app entry, and the ability to use flexible payment options like Afterpay.
  • Helpful Venue Staff: Front-of-house staff and ushers at various venues are frequently praised for their professionalism, friendliness, and ability to assist with accessibility needs or seating issues.
  • Effective Accessible Booking: Several users highlighted that booking for accessibility and companion cards was straightforward and well-managed compared to other platforms.
Cons
  • Inaccessible Customer Service: A major recurring complaint is the inability to contact a human for help, with many users reporting that phone lines are unresponsive and online enquiry forms take weeks to receive a response.
  • Unreliable "Refundable" Tickets: Multiple users report that paying extra for "refundable" or "protected" tickets is a waste of money, as claims are frequently rejected due to overly restrictive terms and conditions.
  • Technical Website Failures: Serious issues include the website timing out during payment, double-charging accounts without sending confirmation, and persistent "unexpected error" messages when trying to access purchased tickets.
  • Aggressive Data Collection and Fees: Users frequently criticise the "astronomical" service fees and the excessive amount of personal data required to register an account or share a ticket with a friend.
Verdict

Consumers can expect high-quality entertainment from the events hosted, but should approach the Ticketek purchasing platform with caution. Due to significant reports of technical errors and non-existent customer support, it is advisable to double-check bank statements after purchase and avoid paying for "refundable" add-ons that are rarely honoured.

We've been telling friends and family that Waitress was easily the very best musical laugh-out-loud comedy we have ever experienced :) Fantastic show, loved it. Very sad to know a lot of others are not going to be able to experience Waitress though :*(

We went on Wednesday 8 July - the 1pm session and thoroughly enjoyed everything about this production. The performances of each character were filled with energy, enthusiasm and conviction. We loved the storyline and were disappointed shows had been cancelled as it was one of the best ones we have seen. Well done to everyone.

Not really knowing the story and songs didnot spoil the experience. It had everything. A good story with a very talented cast. It was funny and hilarious in one scene. Singing and the songs were great. It was upbeat mingled with sad bits too. Loved it! Very sad that is closing. I donot think it was well advertised.

What a treat! Waitress was an absolute delight from start to finish. The cast were phenomenal, with truly angelic voices. The humour was perfectly timed and brilliantly delivered, and we laughed from beginning to end. The music, the performances, and the heart of the story made for such a memorable night. We walked out on an absolute high. If you get the chance to see Waitress, don’t miss it!

I would have gone and seen this again if it was on the next night. It was mesmerising, fascinating, thought provoking, enthralling - every superlative you can think of. Professor Cox is a superb presenter and made highly complex concepts easier to understand. The entertainment centre was packed and there was absolutely not a sound from the… Read more

audience. Everyone was hanging on his every word. And you could listen to his voice forever. He took us from the smallest quark to the end of the universe - I loved every second of it.

Well presented and informative. Good show and very educational. Brian Cox is brilliant. Only complaint would have to be the seating at Perth Arena - it's awful. Hard plastic seats with zero legroom - most uncomfortable. Show reply

Follow-up  · Hard plastic seats with little legroom - after all it is basically an indoor sports arena. View was OK (cheap seats) but Perth RAC Arena is not one of my favourite venues !

Well presented and informative session. The visual aides were excellent and Brian's injection of humour makes the physics enjoyable.

Follow-up  · Brian explains things in a manner that one can understand. Session was several hours. Visual aids were screen shots which helped explain the information he is imparting which is also entertaining.

Really easy to use and great to be able to choose your seats

Follow-up  · The booking fees are standard, check out is quick with a timer to keep you on track and seat selection is clear although it would be helpful to have the location in the stadium

I recently attended a performance of the musical WAITRESS, and while I was initially looking forward to seeing Natalie Bassingthwaighte in the lead role, but she was not performing that night. In hindsight she’s probably a little mature for the role anyway given the positioning of the lead characters role. However, I have to say that the… Read more

understudy did a fantastic job and brought a lot of energy and talent to the stage.

Unfortunately, the seating arrangement was a bit disappointing. The seats were so close together that my view was mostly blocked by the head of the person in front of me, which took away from the experience a lot as I had to keep moving from side to side to see the left & right side of the stage. I couldn’t see the middle at all. And my seats were not purchased as restricted view. They were row R.

In terms of the storyline, there were a few elements that surprised me. The plot included two affairs as well as instances of spousal abuse, which I hadn’t expected.

Overall, while there were a few unexpected twists and some challenges with the seating, the performance itself was strong. I didn’t walk out feeling like I’d seen an awesome show. Performers were terrific.

I thoroughly enjoyed attending Cluedo—it exceeded all of my expectations and was an easy 10/10 experience. The set design was absolutely fantastic, cleverly constructed and highly effective in bringing the story to life in a visually engaging and dynamic way. Each transition felt seamless, and the staging added an extra layer of intrigue and… Read more

excitement to the performance.

The cast was outstanding across the board, delivering energetic, well-timed performances that kept the audience engaged from start to finish. Their comedic timing was impeccable, and the chemistry between performers really elevated the humour and pacing of the show.

Production quality was flawless, from lighting and sound to costumes and direction. Everything worked together perfectly to create a polished and professional experience. The show maintained a high level of energy throughout and was consistently funny, with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.

Overall, Cluedo was far better than I anticipated—clever, entertaining, and expertly executed. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, high-quality theatre experience.

Great experience! Kids had a great time and it was quite interactive. Little things could be better though, like the entry has speakers and the presenter has a microphone which is of little use as the volume is way too low and the room is too large. Then once you enter the next room, it is again too large and as there is no ceiling any of the… Read more

groups before you that are incredibly loud make hearing anything almost impossible. It would be great if they could make it more acoustically tolerable for anyone with kids who are hard of hearing. The staff are next level and interact with the adults and children alike without issue to keep things moving, but being able to know where in the adventure you are would be helpful for some. It would also be great for the kids to have the photos at the end not so rushed so they can spend a minute or two with Bluey and Bingo instead of being rushed as they tend to feel like they don’t have a meaningful interaction with them considering the time spent going through and the build up to it. Would also be great to meet Bandit and Chilli too. Overall it was a great adventure and worth the money! The play area at the end is good but would be great if it was available pre and post show. Worth it and hope they move it to other states.

I went into Waitress with no expectations, but wow-what an incredible show. Natalie Bassingthwaighte absolutely nailed her role. Her voice was phenomenal, but it was her acting that really stood out. She brought so much heart, emotion, and authenticity to her character that I was completely drawn in. The entire cast was outstanding, with every… Read more

performance adding something special. There wasn't a weak link on stage. The songs were catchy, memorable, and had me wanting to listen to the soundtrack on the way home. Waitress was funny, heartfelt, and thoroughly entertaining from start to finish. I’d highly recommend it.

Where to start! We absolutely loved WAITRESS. I knew I would enjoy it, but I was unprepared for how much I would love it! I don't think that I have ever laughed as much in a musical; it was the perfect balance of humour and seriousness, tackling sensitive issues. We saw a lot of understudies in our performance, and you wouldn't have known -… Read more

everyone on that stage was amazing. I loved the choreography; handing out props, the dancing, setting the scene, along with the band right in the middle of the scenes and action too (yay musos!!). What a shame the rest of Australia don't get to see it! The aroma of those pies wafting through - yum! Thank you for a great night out!!

The Waitress was brilliant! Funny but very real! Handling difficult concepts well. The performers were awesome. Well done to everyone! The songs were amazing. An excellent night out! Highly recommend it and sorry for Sydney that they won’t get to experience it. Such a shame! Support our musicals please!

Great music. Disappointed Rob wasn’t there. Sound was la smidge too loud and singers seemed to be pushing for volume above band and therefore lost a little diction. Great show awesome props/staging
