Doesn't contain the smell! – They changed the liner material to a thinner plastic and now the smell escapes - defeats the purpose of having a nappy bin liner at all. Given that the refills are so expensive I would expect better. I've since switched to off-brand compatible refills which are half the price and use a thicker plastic which actually does the job. Show details

New liners are not as good as the older version – We’ve been using our bin for the past 6 years and never had an issue until now. The bin liners have changed. We never had a problem with odour unless we hadn’t emptied the bin in a little while, it was great for trapping the smells. But since I noticed that they have changed the plastic liner, the bin constantly smells even if I’ve just emptied… Read more

it. Today the bin got emptied and I put 3 soiled nappies in there and the smell filled the room. It never used to do that after just a few nappy changes. We’ve washed the bin a couple of times too and it didn’t make any difference so this is why I believe that the new liners might be causing the problem. They used to be a clearer plastic and now they are opaque. I’m not very happy about this as they are expensive to buy and now, no longer traps the odours as the product claims.

Ridiculously expensive refills and stiff to use – While it’s a great idea and for us the bin works well trapping the smell, we both find it awkward to twist to get the actual happy locked in. The part that you twist gets stuck and you definitely need two hands to be able to use this, not ideal while bubs is on the change table, so often find ourselves going back to put it in later on. Also if the… Read more

bin is relatively empty, there is no weight in it so if you try to twist it with one hand the whole bin just falls over. And don’t even get me started on the price of the refills! They are $65 for 6 x liners! It’s the most overpriced item I have ever come across, we weren’t smart enough to look into this before buying the bin. Cannot wrap our heads around how the company thought this price was ever ok? Even the ladies at baby bunting comment on how outrageous the price is, that’s how you know it’s 100% a rip off. We have tried using normal bin liners inside the bin ($2 for a 20 pack) and just put the smelly nappies in a nappy bag prior to putting in the bin and this seems to work really well. Would not recommend this until your baby is 9 months at least, that way you have fewer nappies and won’t go through the liners as quick. Or use it with normal bin liners as just a bin. Absolutely ridiculous the price of the refills. Literally cannot get over it

Incredible – I love mine!! 5/5 here, keeps smells out and saves endless trips to the bin.... Refills can be pricey but I just stock Up when they are on special - don't think I have ever bought them at full price in almost 4yrs.Lived in a 2 story home, so highly rate this! still use it and also stock up on no name cartridges when on special. I love it. No mess, no smell and only need to empty once a week instead of everyday like other bins! 5/5 for me! Show details

Disappointing Purchase – I looked at utube demo videos before making my purchase and was impressed. But when I placed my order online, what came was just several refills. The photo I had ordered from had a picture of the bin as well as refills , hence I chose that. Price of $70 odd seemed high for a bin but I wanted what I had viewed so accepted cost. I was shocked to see… Read more

when my box arrived that it was for refills only, so I then found it would be another $60 to obtain the actual bin-which I did. As for its performance, the one that arrived was different to the paper instructions that came with it-not unusual for Chinese goods I have found. The instructions on the lid itself appeared the correct ones. Which Instead of being applied so that there were no air bubbles beneath same, this has several, so will not have a lasting life. As the old rego stickers on windshields proved. Also as for "no odour"..this is only so, UNTIL one opens to insert and then the room is permeated with a very unpleasant odour, just for the short time it's opened before twirling and closing. No I would not recommend purchasing this product without actually viewing in person, as mine is obviously a cheaper version than what I saw demonstrated on the web. I was disappointed, its certainly not worth $130 odd to obtain. Re questions below as to ease of use, my rating is because, I have to push the item down into the bin before twisting, or it will not twist away, which is not pleasant.

No smell. Very Clean & Convenient. Magic – What I expected (first time mum): I bought this because I didn't want to leave baby alone while I took every dirty nappy to the outside bin (I didn't want them stinking up the house either). I thought the refills would cost a lot but I was prepared to do it anyway for the safety aspect. I thought I would be emptying the bin daily or every… Read more

second day to the outside bin.

What really happened:

It turns out, the pee nappies don't smell and just go into the general rubbish in their scented nappysack and only the poopy ones disappear into the magic portal that is the Sangenic Nappy Bin, never to be seen or smelled again. So it takes a couple of weeks to fill the bin, costing very little in refills, and still not having ANY odour, even when you lift the lid, nothing. It is a thoughtful design, easy and clean to use, no fuss, no smell, no touching anything yikky, and cost effective piece of equipment that improves our nappy changes and baby safety. Highly recommend. Love it.

Amazing Product – Love this product! I purchased two bins each including one cartridge from Aldi Strathpine for $15 each (What a bargain!!!) And man what a difference it has made to my apartment. I have a two story apartment, so I keep on bin upstairs and one bin downstairs. Gone are the days of racing up and down the stairs all night triple bagging a stinky… Read more

nappy destined to sit in the garbage until bin day comes around. Gone are the lingering smells of my little mans efforts. Gone are the days of pegging my nose just to take the bin to the curb. It has really made difference in my life.

But...with all my praise comes a few constructive criticisms, but hey, nothing is perfect.

It has come time to buy refills and where as they seem a little expensive, when the six packs are on special for roughly $59, $10 a refill doesn't seem too bad. But still, they're a little on the pricey side for nappy bags.

Secondly, just a small mention to smell. Where as most of the smell is controlled, a small amount can linger when you have a near full bin. I simply just sprinkle a small amount of lavender scented carpet sand in the bottom of the bin and it eliminates any and all lingering smells.

All in all, this is an amazing product and really helps in keeping any, but especially a small apartment/house smell free. Most defiantly would never go back to the way it was before!!!

Great product – Product does what's it's meant to. It's effective and very easy to use. I just wish there was a cheaper option with the bag refills. Very happy with this product. I have been using it for 4 months so far. It's easy to clean and also fits into places well.

good but gets expensive – a must have in a hot climate - hot nappy bins get yucky quickly! However, wonder why another manufacturer hasn't come up with a less expensive option. The entry price is good but the refills get expensive. We buy them at baby bunting when on sale otherwise not cheap! also, I 'twist' every couple of nappies (our little girl is just 6mths so not huge nappies mine you)

Stopped working – The bin works for the first 2 months and then it starts to smell. We have to clear the bin every night which defeats the purpose. We do wash and sanitise the bin every time and it still doesn't lock the smell away... a little disappointed. Show details

New Bin is terrible compared to old bin! – I bought a new Tommee Tippee Sangenic Bin & while the new design does look prettier (you can choose from pink, blue or white) it isn’t nearly as good as the old design. I find I have to empty this bin after 4-6 nappies (it has so much room but I can never let it get full as it doesn’t effectively stop the smell) whereas the old bin you could fill… Read more

it before it started making a smell. I find you also have to twist the bag way more to lock in the smell (which isn’t that effective anyway) using up more of the bag!!! We only put poo nappies in this bin (a trick we learnt reading reviews when we bought the our first bin - the old design) to save on the bag refills as they are very expensive - but the old design was so effective. Literally thinking that it’s worth getting the old design off of gumtree & getting rid of this new bin!

Expensive refills – Very expensive refills, the environmental impact is probably not great either, i am sure they could use a biodegradable plastic and not sure why they cost so much . The twist and click mechanism does though effectively keeps the smell down to a minimum. Show details

Right idea, deceptive marketing – While this is a good concept for saving on waste while maintaining hygiene, the expected process is nothing more than a money making scam. Once you get through your first round of bags, you will pay much more for refills than the actual product. What you are buying with refills is nothing more than a glorified plastic bag AND a cartridge which in… Read more

Very effective in what it is meant to do! – Pros: - Definitely does what it claims to do in keeping the nasty odours in. - Easy to use. Cons: - Refills are relatively expensive. - The size of the bin is not big enough. - The bin is a bit flimsy. Overall I'm happy that I bought it and it's definitely better than using individual nappy bags.

Sealed the nasty smell – I previously use a normal bin with lid but the smell filled up the whole toilet. So decided to get one of this and it did conceal the smell. Like it alot and find it more hygienic. I use it only for nappies with poop to save on refills. And happy with it so far.

had a neutral experience – First, i love that it somehow proves to its claims. Everytime I throw the nappies to this bin, there is no smell at all . The high technology does the work for that. One thing I find inconvenient is refilling it. I mean i can just dispose the nappies manually lol I just bought it for the sake of having a newborn baby that changes nappies from time to time.

Hygenic, Clean and Handy! – This product is great! You can not smell the nappies at all even when it comes time to change the bag, it's very handy and really easy to use. I would definitely purchase this if I didn't have it brought for me, the price is very reasonable as well. A++

smell either. Availability of cassettes has proven a problem and I can only find them in Coles at $10 for one or $30 for three. For us a cassette can last well past two weeks. You can also get the cassettes from eBay. Overall very happy and would recommend this to any parents to be as a must buy before little one comes along.

Had been excellent – We have had ours for close to 18 months and it had been one of the most invaluable items we got. That said, the last 3-4 months there has been a noticeable build up of smell within the bin itself. We have washed it out numerous times, with some pretty heavy smell killers as well, however it is getting worse. Would be five stars and no end of praise if not for the recent change.

Good Nappy Bin – Purchased one of these bins, as our daughters nursery is up stairs and I'm not wanting to constantly run down the stairs with a wet/dirty nappy in the middle of the night. It works really well, easy to set up, holds in smell, easy to empty. Only complaint would be that the refills are so damn expensive!

Just get this – Just get this. As a new dad (Latin for 'changer of poo collections') this was sent by the Gods of Sanity on the Auburn Wings of Scented Valkyries. It has cartridges - what bloke doesn't like to reload / change / swap something out. It works exactly as advertised. It does not stink. Awesome in a nappy bucket thing.

Refill quality has really dropped – We have had our bin for three years now and when we first purchased it, I would recommend it to everyone I knew having a baby - over the last few months our bin has done nothing but stink since Tommee Tippee appear to have changed the quality of the plastic bagging system. The smell just seems to permeate.

Comes in handy – I have been using Sangenic plus bin since my first baby and I am very satisfied with that. However I also have to agree that the refills are rather expensive too. I was looking for some cheaper refill alternative and on UK ebay I came across some czech shop selling sanuten foil which you can refill into original cassettes. I bought 200 m of foil… Read more

and it is equivalent to about 20 cassettes for Sangenic and 32 for Angelcare bins. It works fine and is much cheaper.

The smell is unbearable – I purchased this as it was more economical than my previous one, and cartridges were easier to find. However, after about two months the bin started to smell and six months on the bathroom and down the hall stinks to. I change it at least twice daily (I have triplets) and every time one of my babies does a poo yet the smell prevails. Very disappointed as my other one didn't smell like that and I had it for 12 months.

Bin's great but there is a refill alternative out there! – Hi Guys, Just been using the Sangenic bin for quite some time. As with most of the comments, we have found the refills to be really expensive. We stumbled across a product called the PooTube (pootube.com.au) which offers a cheaper AND biodegradable alternative to the original Sangenic Refills. So far they have been working well and certainly worth checking out.

The refills are just too expensive – The product is a good idea, but is uneconomical compared with other bags. Its a bit like a cheap printer, at first it seems cheap, but when you have to replace the cartridges it ain't cheap anymore

Excellent, so happy I tried it – I looked into these a fair bit while pregnant, and was a bit hesitant to get it because I'd heard its expensive to buy the cartridges. I bit the bullet and bought the bin + 6 cartridges on special from baby bunting for $49. I'm so glad I did. Bub is 6wks old, and is going through 8-10 nappies everyday, and I've only used 2 cartridges. The… Read more

cartridges cost about $10ea from Coles, so it's only cost $20 to keep the room smelling fresh, and not need to run out to the bin in the middle of the cold wet Melbourne winter for the past 6wks. And when Bub gets a bit older and needs less frequent nappy changes, it'll be even cheaper. The bin locks in the stinkiness, there's no trace of odor in the room at all. I highly recommend this to new parents Convenient, locks in stinkiness, not as expensive as expected The bin itself doesn't hold that many nappies (advertised as 28 nappies) so you need to empty the bin relatively frequently by chopping the cartridge liner and re-tying it up. This is such a minor annoyance though it's hardly worth mentioning

Keeps away odours – I have two wee ones in nappies and have found the sangenic disposal system to be so convenient. I put all number twos in to the sangenic and empty once or twice a week. Easy to use – We bought it a few months before our first baby was born, so actually we had no idea how well this bin would work at the time. Great Product! – I bought this when I was pregnant and have loved it ever since! I do agree that you do go through the refills very easily if you put both wee and poo nappies in so I made it more affordable by only putting poo nappies in the bin and wee ones in nappy bags. Our favourite product – Out of all the baby products we have purchased, this is by far our favourite. It is extremely convenient, easy to use and easy to refill. diaper changed.

I agree with other reviewers that the cassettes/refills can add up so we make sure to fold our dirty nappies up neatly (if its possible) before placing them in the bin and we always buy the cassettes on sale. We've noticed Big W tend to sell the cassettes for the best price.

This is definitely our favourite product & when we've shown all our friends how to use it after changing our daughters diaper - they all think its a great item too. We also bought this bin as a gift for our niece as we love the product so much! Convenient and does exactly what it states to do It could be slightly taller for ease of use and cassettes full price can be costly at $15 each when bought individually, we tend to buy the 6 pack.

It works but the replacement cassettes are expensive – The bin does contain the smell as promised but the cassettes run out very quickly and they aren't cheap. I tried to prolong the use of mine by only twisting when it was a dirty nappy but this didn't really make much difference. I wouldn't recommend this bin. I think you would be better finding a bin that doesn't need the cassettes. Helps with smell Cassettes are expensive and run out quickly

Saves late night bin runs – I got this as a gift and have really liked using it. I find that it contains the nappy smell really well and like the fact that we don't have to keep running out to the bin. I also like the new refills that are specially for babies 6months + as their nappies smell worse and need the extra strength. Refills can be expensive especially at new born stage and if you use alot of nappies daily. I think it could be bigger and hold more nappies.
