Good – For the price this is a good buy. I've just upgraded to the Topfield 4400 PVR and the picture quality on that unit is nowhere near as good as the 4000. Easy to use. Remote is quite functional. Very good picture quality. On screen menus aren't very attractive, EPG isn't great

Good – Industry leader for picture quality and features - hands down. I was coming from a situation whereby my existing digital set top went cactus, so I knew what to expect when setting up a new one. The manual sucks big time, it's useless. But if you persevere, this unit is rock solid and really delivers. One star lost for the printed… Read more

documentation aka the manual.

Good value buying, recommended. Nice compact unit - not as tiny as some of the cheapos you see. Fairly simple to setup if you kinda know what you are doing, otherwise tread carefully.

Menu structure for setup luckily is very simple to navigate and wade through - you'll need it, given how bad the printed manual is!

The concept of 'favourite' groupings is a good idea. Here in Oz though, with only a handful of channels on free-to-air it's a wasted feature.

Picture quality is superb.

Remote is a nicely balanced unit, although in my personal opinion too thin and long compared to my other remotes. Not an issue as I have programmed it into my universal remote, so I need not use it.

Comes with several SCART connectors - a short and a long one, handy. Agree with others re: the manual. It's deadset hopeless. I skimmed through it, found a few pointers but was on my own.

There are no other 'bad' things about this unit.

Excellent – Only annoyed for not buying one weeks earlier. Enjoying ABC2 and all the other channels (including digital music channels that I was not aware existed locally). I was led to the Topfield 4000T by product reviews here and in other magazines and websites. I know now that all the accolades were correct. Other models of STBs used by friends and… Read more

neighbours are not as easy to use or set up as the Topfield 4000T. Extremely easy to set up ... about 10 minutes from opening the box to watching TV with the STB tuned in.

Comes with two SCART cables in the box ... NO extra spending when you walk out of the shop.

The manual's description of the remote control and its use is excellent. Few other products' remote controls are so easily understood.

Worth the $198 asking price (Glen Geary Good Guys, Kotara/Newcastle, NSW). Haggling was fun ... We started at $249 and went down $51. Nothing to note.

Took a few minutes to route the STB, VCR and TV to best advantage. The manual's only let-down ... but the referral to the website was the saver.

Great Product – I purchased my Topfield 4000FT about 2 years ago when I bought my plasma screen.  I bought this one as it was recommended by the sales rep at Good Guys in Rockingham WA.  He even tuned it in and told me how to set it up. So all I had to do was plug it in when I got it home. After my crt analogue picture I was very impressed with the… Read more

clarity of the picture.  Lately though when I press one of the numerical buttons on the remote, the channel description on the epg at the bottom of the screen is jumbled. I did a rescan of all available channels, but this didnt fix the problem. As there is no firmware update available on the Topfield website, I guess I will have to live with it. I am that impressed with this unit overall that I am thinking of buying the Topfield 4400 PVR. Great reception, easy to use Manual is rubbish.

Good – Excellent, wouldn't hestitate to recommend it. Pay a little more and get a lot more! Was on special at Harvey Normans for $229. Bargain. Small, compact and good looking. Metal case, easy to set-up and outstanding picture quality. The best remote I've used with 'everything' you could want. Nothing really.

Excellent – Awesome STB, highly recommended. What I'm trying to say is that you couldn't get any better for the price. Was thinking of getting the Soniq, but happy spending the extra $100 on this. I get a mintox picture with it and also changes stations quite quickly. Remote is also very good, something I heard that the Soniq has a weakness. The "Exciting embedded games" aren't worth trying. They are quite ordinary, just quietly. That's it really.

Good – Great buy - highly recommend. For the price cannot be beaten - $219 from Good Guys. Easy to set up and use. Great quality pictures. Remote is very user friendly. Runs a bit hot but that doesn't seem to be a problem.
