Vax VMAT1400

Hell will freeze over before I buy another Vax! – After years of buying cheapish vaccums that lasted maybe 5 years, my husband brought home this monstrosity as a gift. You deserve a decent vac he said, and when I looked at the price tag I expected it to be. It sucks rubbish off the floor, I mean it's hardly rocket science right? Wrong! The head was the first to go..... after ONE week the rollers on the side broke with normal use. The spinning barrel while a good idea overall, was badly designed and stopped the head turning when it got hair in it. Sadly the husband didn't keep the receipt from Bunnings, so I swore at it, and put on an old vacuum head. Then a few months later the plastic pipe that pushes into the metal wand cracked and had to be held together by duct tape. Now it's blocked to the point of not even sucking dust off the floor. It's now in my bin less than a year after purchase, one star is being kind. The $50 ones for the Reject Shop perform better than this! Never ever will I buy another Vax!

Only just makes the grade – OK, it's near the bottom of what you can get for your money - but I reckon that they could do a little better. We do like the clever way they hide the tools in the handle. However, if you put the turbo head where it's supposed to live it drags on the floor ! On hard surfaces it rocks, plenty of grunt. Move onto the carpet and it's not real good, you have to go over 'n over the same spot to lift visible surface rubbish and the turbo head noise would drown out a footy crowd !
The power lead also gets quite warm, wire gauge is too small for the job.
This is only just a OK vacuum cleaner, customer service is very poor – This vacuum promises to to designed for people with pets, I purchased this vacuum cleaner approximately 4 years ago, at the time I thought it was pretty good value, but I probably wouldn't buy it again because the pet hair and other pieces of lint would have me lifting up the head and manually cleaning it. I took me ages the vacuum the house stopping every few meters, then as luck would have it the head broke and when I purchased a replacement it was a totally different head from the old one.
Happily I find I can whiz around the house in next to no time. This is my 3rd Vax and I don't think the VAX VMAT1400 is as good as my previous barrel vacuum cleaners, nor is as versatile.
The other thing I wasn't impressed by was the customer service at Vax , apparently they are not interested selling replacement parts to customers as I was in no uncertain term to "Go back to the place I purchased my vacuum cleaner from. Having done that, I had replacement part in 2 days, so I can't fault Bunnings.
Perfect – very strong suction and the turbo head works extremly well. Bought this for our holiday house and the floors look imaculate. We bought the Vax mach zen aswell for our house. We bought them both from bunnings and is fantastic. Have owed it for around 2 years and still has great suction. I clean the filter out every 6 months and it still does a goood job. Finished vacuum just then after it had not been emptyed foraround 2 weeks and the container was full. i couldn't even see the middle bit it was so full and the suction is still the same. Everything< Suction <Turbo Brush< Inexprensive A bit loud
