Not as good as my 21 year old Victa mower – Bought last month from local mower specialist and used several times. Previous good experience with Victa Corvette bought 21 years ago. This mower feels heavier to push, cuts grass well ( haven't tried mulcher attachment yet), doesn't get close enough to solid objects and I managed to knock height adjust lever while manoeuvring around gardening… Read more

Manufacturing Defect - Avoid V144 Engine (Victa/Cheetah) I purchased a Victa Corvette with the V144 engine and discovered critical manufacturing defects before even assembling the unit. ISSUES: INTERNAL DEBRIS: The combustion chamber was contaminated with metallic "swarf" (machining shavings). This debris had already caused vertical scoring on the… Read more

cylinder bore just from turning the engine by hand. SUBSTANDARD BORE FINISH: The all-aluminum "Kool-Bore" lacks a factory honed crosshatch. It features a raw, horizontal boring-bar finish. Without a plateau hone, these engines will suffer from ring chatter, poor oil retention, and premature death. WIDESPREAD PROBLEM: I confirmed the same mechanical "chirping" noise on a brand-new Victa Powered Cheetah floor model at a major retailer. RETAILER RESPONSE: The store claimed this is "normal" and that "they are all like this." If raw bores and internal metal shavings are the new "normal," the expected lifespan of these engines has been drastically reduced. WARNING: The manual requires oil changes every 3 months for domestic use—a highly unusual requirement that appears to shift the burden of proof onto the consumer for warranty claims when these un-honed engines inevitably begin to smoke or seize. Do not buy if you want a mower that lasts more than a few seasons.

Rubbish product – So, I have owned one of these mowers for nearly twelve months now and I feel compelled to write a review on it. First, this is my first over $500 push lawnmower, my last cheapie died, and I thought now is the time to invest in a solid, reputable and reliable push lawnmower. In stating this I was prepared to invest in the Honda products but got… Read more

burned off by the cost, so I decided on the alternative, was this a good idea, not really, my under $250 mower did a better cut of my lawn than my new mower. What my beef is that I wanted the ease of the self-propelled function on the Corvette, what I am finding is that if my grass (buffalo) is on the longer side the mower won't cut it correctly on a lower setting, so I have to do one cut on the highest setting and the re-cut the lawn on a lower setting, not good as I don't really want to be double cutting my lawn. The self-propelled speed is just way too fast for the blades to keep up. Also, the self-propelled function is total rubbish on a sloped block, the wheels just spin, and it goes nowhere, so, alas, I have to push my mower for the majority of my mowing. Second point, there is plastic stuff falling off it everywhere, wheel covers, small covers from the motor, and the air filter cover seems to be very fragile. Third point, the starting, I find that if you flood the mower, it will not start at all, so not having a manual choke or fuel control is really a miss from the manufacturer. I find that you have to put mine on "C" on the accelerator and the mower will fire..still not ideal for an expensive mower. In closing would I buy another Corvette mower, no, I wouldn't, and would I recommend the mower to anyone else, no, I wouldn't, get another brand or go down the electric mower path, I feel you would happier.

Good motor but very poor quality frame and handle – My not even six year old Victa Corvette 200 has developed a very bad rust fracture in the frame, right next to the lower handle mount. This is a disaster as every time I change mowing direction, I run the risk of making the 12cm long tear in the metal frame even worse. Very disappointing as I always hose the underside out to remove any wet grass… Read more

that may clog the underside or cause rust. The Mower shop where I bought it from mentioned that this was a fairly common problem with them. Cold comfort! I can either get it repaired with a new frame and pay what will be more than the price of a new mower or throw it away! Update: A year later the metal handle broke. Clearly made of cheap steel. Thats the last straw. I hope that Victas new owner reads this, as they have bought a real lemon in terms of QA, unless they improve the build quality. A real shame, as the Briggs and Stratton motor has to date, been terrific. Not much use though if the frame is stuffed. Unimpressed and wont be buying Victa again. Should have stuck with my 1998 model Massport.

A very honest product. Never had a problem – With a little bit of after mow maintenance, a quick clean dry of, a tiny bit of WD or similar on springs hinges cable and where ever it’s required an occasional service filters and plugs there is no reason that the mower shouldn’t last you for many years, I’ve had one for many years and it runs like it did the day it was removed from its box. Show details

Very dissatisfied poor design – Very poor mower got advice from local guy (previously sold me good gear) who claimed it was super reliable. Faults include 1) catcher falls of all the time, particularly if u bump an edge go over a little uneven ground or it’s over 1/2 full (then it just falls of by itself) 2) the design of having the right front wheel out of Alignemt wit the… Read more

rear right wheels makes it hard to mow edges. Because the wheels line up on the left and not the right I have to use left side of mower and mow clockwise only at edges. This is unnatural for a right hander 3) it does not mow as nice as my previous 15 year old mower … seems to miss grass at the wheels .. never had this issue with the old mower … the result in untidy or you mow everything twice 4) the mulch bar is a novel idea but unless you want everything in the yard … patios nearby by windows etc.. covered in fine dust .. you won’t be inclined to use it. Just does not work well enough and sprays too much around

On the positive side it starts well and is reasonable as far as noise is concerned and no mechanic faults yet. Given the opportunity again I would go for an electric, that way if it was rubbish I could atleast feel self righteous about it :)

get an old Victa and you will be happy – No idea about these newer model Corvettes people are reviewing, but Im reveiwing a Series 500 that I bought brand new in 2002. about the needle seat to keep the correct float bowl height. Hit the primer bulb 3 times, and its starts 1st or second pull. I clean the steel deck after each mow and it has not rusted. In 22 years all it has cost me is a new air filter, and a new muffler. I suspect almost any mower is a good mower, if you taker the time to learn how it works and nut out the quirks. Most of the negative comments are from tyre kickers who have no clue. Why would you listen to them? Finally, older is better, because things were mage with metal, instead of plastic like they do nowdays. Car radiators with plastic tanks, mowers with plastic cams in their OHV engines...lol ..where does the stupidity end? Old school is best.

What the hell are you all doing to your mowers – After both my mower and trimmer died in the same day I was in the market for a new mower and trimmer. The salesman recommended the corvette 200 because it was basically the best of what I could afford. After reading reviews on here I… Read more

was iffy about buying it, as everyone was saying there a big crap, but against better judgment I bought it anyway. Got it home, gave the pull cord a gentle tug and it started straight up like a teen at a brothel, so far so good. But now the real test. My mowers been out of action for around 2 months, and the grass is anywhere from ankle high to knee high, and wet, very wet (it rained literally a hour ago) . Instead of doing the smart thing and using my fancy new trimmer on the whole 977 square meters of suburban jungle, I set the mower to its 3rd lowest setting and sent it, thinking it would just stall out. Imagine my surprise when she took to the grass way out of her pay grade like a coke addicted rabbit. We stalled out once when going through a rather gnarley patch of thigh high shrubbery but a quick pull and she was off again. I bought the trimmer with the mower as a afterthought, but the big grey girl won my heart. 10/10 would mow again. One downside is the deck washing port is meh, you kinda need to tip it up and actually clean under it properly

Big fan.. Very happy – Took it home, started 1st pull. Very easy to start, no primer bulb or choke to worry about. Easy to maneuver round obstacles, eg. trees and taps, it has a strong and robust build, but reasonably lightweight. Great, reliable lawn mower – I’ve had my Victa Corvette 300 for nearly 3 years, mowing my 500m2 lawn (slightly bigger than a normal yard) every 2-3 weeks or so. Starts first time every time. Don’t waste your money – Absolute rubbish! I will never spend money on Victa again. The self propelled mechanism broke, first mow, within 10mins. Catcher keeps falling off. Bad fuel hose ! – I have had this mower for 12 months and other than it’s sometimes difficult to start , it was something I could live with as it was doing the job. inspection I could see a number cracks had appeared on the hose. One of which being the source of fuel leak. This mower is only 12 months old and stored under cover. How does this happen ? As a life long Victa owner , I find this both disappointing an distressing , Never again .

It's a Lemon – I purchased the Victa Corvette 300 on the recommendation of my local mower dealer. From the outset the mower always felt under powered for even the lightest lawn cut. After about ten hours total use over approximately two years the machine has developed an internal 'knock' rendering it useless. More time getting fixed than mowing – I purchased this SP mower 2 years ago. I have a sloping block and need the self propelled function. Rubbish quality from Victa - trading on the legacy of the name – Purchased Victa Corvette series mower with B & S 625 series engine (US made) on 27th April 2016. Engine is superb ! lawn. Took at least 3 months for Victa to send me replacement (not free - I paid for it). Now the chassis has entirely rusted out and the mower is unusable. Have two neighbours with exactly the same problem with their Victa mowers. Before you think otherwise, I am the bloke that looks after his gear. Always cleaned and dried mower after each use !!! So not my fault for putting away dirty or wet. Plus mower always put away in dry shed. Only had two previous mowers before this: a Victa inherited from Dad and a cheapy from Big W. Both lasted more than 12 years each and died from engine issues - chassis was still perfect when I got rid of them. I won't even make 6 years with this mower. How is this possible in this day and age? Hang your head in shame team Victa.

Poor build quality. Warranty not honoured. Avoid – I bought this mower for $900 in October 2020 from a local dealer/repairer Ive supported for over 20 years. 13 months after purchase and only domestic use on a 800sqm block the steel cable frayed+ broke at the very top near the throttle. I waited 9+ weeks for it to be repaired- the cable took 9 weeks to come from the manufacturer B+S. I expected… Read more

the cable to be covered under the 2 or 5 year warranty but was told B+S would just laugh at the suggestion- no way. So I was charged $45 for the part ( a length of thin braided steel cable!!!) and $85 for the labour to fit it. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer stood by this product. And the latter all the more galling since I've purchased 2 mowers, chainsaw, brushcutter+ petrol mulcher AND had all of them serviced there at least annually over 20+ years. I regret buying this mower but it was bought from people I trusted during lockdown conditions.

I starts easily first time but is hard to restart from hot. The catcher clogs even with the air vents open and its necessary to stop+ push the grass towards back of catcher. The blade still spins when the catcher is disengaged so you get a face full of clippings. When using the wash port I found grass was still stuck in nooks+ crannies under the cutting deck so was having to tip it up to brush underneath. I looked after this mower, was always garaged+ cleaned. I noticed that new models on display (now $1000) in the worksop (while I waited 9 weeks) have a black plastic cover over the cable now but of course the one I was recently supplied with has no such cover and the cable seems flimsier than that on the original machine. Not buying Victa or Briggs+ Stratton again. As for the dealer, taking my business elsewhere.

Easy to start, smooth ,quiet and very economical – I bought a new Victa Corvette with the 4 stroke 675 EXI briggs and stratton engine and steel chassis last season. large corporations when I can.

I decided to buy VICTA again after having a 32 year run with a Victa Ultima with a 5hp techumseh 4 stroke engine and steel chassis. It has done a mountain of work over the years including mowing my quarter acre block and friends yards etc.

I think the secret to mower longetivity is maintenance which includes changing the oil every year or two and air filter and spark plug every third. Interestingly the new one is good for life according to Victa as far as oil is concerned with just an annual oil level check and top up if required. I think I will continue with the oil change regime even if it maybe overkill with this new tech motor.

From my experience the most crucial ingredient to trouble free performance from any small petrol engine is good fuel. This means E10 should be avoided as it tends to leave a sticky residue behind if the machine is left standing for even short periods which plays havoc with the motors carby causing jets to foul or the float to stick resulting in poor running or not starting at all. So I try to use regular unleaded as a rule in all my petrol powered garden equipment.

The new Victa is definetly a big improvement over the old one. It uses a lot less fuel maybe half as much as the old one. It is also very quiet and smooth with virtually no vibration. The emphasis seems to be on torque rather than horsepower as it has plenty of grunt whilst operating at lower revolutions per minute. Best of all it starts first pull with no priming or fiddling. Just put fuel in it and pull the starter cord with the throttle in the start position.

Victa have the option of an alloy base / chassis which is significantly dearer but probably only necessary if you live near the sea for corrosion resistance although if you utilize the chassis mounted hose fitting and flush the underside after every mow then I can't see corrosion being an issue with the steel chassis.

The Corvette comes with a mulch plug which works well but you have to be mindful of the direction u are mowing in to make the most of it. As already mentioned the chassis is also fitted with a hose attachment which allows you to easily flush clean the underside of the chassis when you are finished mowing. Soft feel handle grips are fitted and are comfortable to use. The grass catcher is fitted with flaps that u can open to maximise catching ability or close when transversing dusty ground to minimise dust.

To sum up the Victa Corvette 675EXI is a very good mower which also looks the part with its smart red and grey finish.
