Happy with WD – I have the WD Passport as well as Elements. These latest are 500 GB units. I add a new one every 9 months or so when a good price comes along. This way I can rotate the use and if one dies due to old age or failure there is some redundancy. I also now store critical files like My Documents and Outlook pst in Google Drive plus Dropbox. working in IT for over 20 years many people think they have a back up and for a variety of reasons they do not.

I do back-ups often by manual transfer or manually-driven backups and check them afterwards. That is, I don't do automatic but that is a personal choice. I do a restore, and read it regularly - about 2 monthly.

These are great tools and I do like the 'sleekness' of the Passport Drive.

Recent ones are USB 3.0 and these are so much better for speed.

I always handle with care.

Much easier to handle than lots of USB sticks. Sleek and light. Nicely styled. USB 3.0 speed.

Excellent – Overall a great little hard drive with lots of space to put all your files and back everything up, at the same time fits in your pocket. Very easy to use and I highly recomment it. Quick file tranfers, great to use with a media player, handy small size. The connector look a little delicate, possibly may break if cable is accidently pulled.

OK – Overall, western digital is a great storage device that doesn't produce much noises like its competitors. Very easy to use and sync. Generous five year warranty. Great capacity storage in a compact size. Very easy to use and fast to transfer files. Simple installation. Minimal noise. Fragile. I dropped it once from the table and the plastic crack.

Good – I have one of the newer WD my passport and it works extremely well. It is extremely portable and looks very sleek and transfer speeds are very fast - just as fast or even faster than an ordinary usb key. It is a good alternative to using an ordinary hard drive and putting a case over it as it runs very silently and is more portable. Overall, it is… Read more

a good product and worth the money if you need more space on your computer Design is sleek and simple. It is relatively cheap The cable that came with it was dodgy, but the cable these hard drives use are found lying around all over the place(mini usb to usb)

Good – NOTE: This review talks about the build quality of the 3 year old variation, the newer sorts may not be as reliable or as strongly built. I had my WD Passport for a solid three years now. I got the 160gb variation for $150. It's been very reliable and has never failed on me, even after dropping it 3.5 meters onto the cement I expected it to… Read more

have broken but was amazed when it continued to perform perfectly.

It's also quite fast utilizing the full speed of the USB2.0 Standard. You'll be quite happy with this product. Reliable, Rugged and Fast for the USB2.0 Standard Non really, was annoyed when the matching case retailed for $30.

Excellent – You can get some really good deals on these drives now, it's cheaper to buy these drives than a bare drive and a separate case for it... that was not the situation before. Sizes are now up to 500GB, so shop around to compare the size/price ratios. Western Digital have been good with their warranty response in the past, their warranty is not… Read more

as long now as it was but no-one's is. I've not had to test it on any of these drives though. Powered by USB, fast, reliable, big, well priced, slim, lightweight, and very stylish for a hard drive. Can be gotten at great prices. This drive has worked flawlessly with some older gear that is very particular about USB hard disk drives, this is a good indication that the design conforms to the standards for USB right down to the letter. None to date; it's been a very good performer.

Good – This portable hard drive has been very reliable and....The build quality is good, with a glossy piano black finish and the drive is quite light, making it very portable. The access speed is fast, and it doesn't take long to transfer files. It doesn't require an external power supply and only needs to be connected to a USB port. I have tried it… Read more

on several computers including Macs and have never had any compatibility issues with it. It is an economical, convenient solution for people who need to transport large amounts of data between computers. Doesn't require an external power supply Nothing of note

Good – This hard drive has caused me no problems in the few months of owning it. The speed is fairly fast and it was quite easy to get started. Simple plug in and go! It does come with included syncing software, but I prefer not to use it. The included USB cable is far too short. It would be fine for a laptop, but I use a desktop computer and the… Read more

hard drive is sitting rather awkwardly behind the computer (I don’t have any usb front ports) Lightweight. Looks appealing visually. Sleek black design. The price is a little high. It's best left alone and not moved too often as it can scratch easily. A pouch would be ideal when not in use or when moving around. Short usb cable included
