Terrible – I have no confidence in this appliance or in the brand. This was an expensive item and is only 4 years old. It should work properly! We have lost hundreds and hundreds of dollars in food and call out costs now have a worthless and extremely large piece of rubbish on our hands that will cost us even more to get rid of. I will never buy a Whirlpool appliance ever again! It looks OK. This fridge freezer seems to really battle in high humidity and has been randomly defrosting for the last few months meaning (over an Auckland summer) I have lost hundreds of dollars of food! It has done this before but has become almost constant. Even more frustratingly, because it randomly fails and then starts working again I have been completely unable to get a technician around to see if there is a fault because if it is working when they get here they can't do anything or diagnose any problem. Have also had to pay several call out fees for nothing as a result. Extremely frustrating!

I agree with JacquiO 100%. Buying a Whirlpool side by side was a costly mistake for me.

I've had a similar experience, I think its the same series of fridge. It worked perfectly until a few years ago and then consistent breakdowns, food spoilage etc. I'm surprised nobody has become unwell. Yesterday, it saved me one final headache and died for good. I think I got 9 years out of this EXPENSIVE junk. Over the weekend the fridge stopped functioning although the freezer was working. Called out another repairman and asked for his honest opinion. Should we bite the bullet and buy a new fridge or was it worth repairing. He said worth repairing and fiddled with it. It cranked up one final time and last night shorted out the power and then died for good (after $120) It was rusting on the inside as well as outside so obviously not good quality and not FIXABLE - thanks fridge guy. A chef friend told me this morning that it was obviously was unfixable and to chuck it. Wish the repair guy had been so honest. I thank my lucky stars that the power shortage didn't kill any other appliance. And luckily we were at home and not away when this happened. Whirlpool's aftercare is appalling, their product is rubbish and I wouldn't buy anything of theirs ever again. I was told this appliance, which we paid a premium for, was higher quality than others because it was made in the USA. Rubbish. We have an old Samsung beer fridge which has been chugging away for years, never a problem. Oh and I 've noticed that the ice was starting to contain bits of the icemaker. Nice. Luckily it was bin night last night so I could get rid of more rotten food. Buying a newbie today, probably another Samsung.
