If this product is still on the market, it shouldn't be! – This is one of the worst purchases I have ever made. It took months to get it once I ordered it online. It sounds like a jet engine warming up when its turned on. Its so loud I can't hear anyone speak to me in the kitchen. It only JUST does the job of extracting steam from the stove. When it arrived, it came without any filters for recirculation use. The filters were listed incorrectly with Whirlpool and were shown as one big oblong when in fact what was needed were two round ones. I spent hours trying to find the right filters. When eventually I did source the correct filters they cost AUD35 each! If it was not for my relentless perseverance to get to the bottom of the filter issue, the contraption would have been rendered totally useless to me. So I had bought the unit for AUD150, spent AUD70 on filters, paid a handyman to put it in and THEN to top it all off only several months later the two LED lights started to falter and flicker. Yes, they can be sourced from some of the online spare part warehouses but they cost AUD45+ each. Another AUD90+ to pour into this inferior cheaply made machine - no thank you very much. I took the lights out and took them to an LED specialist and was told that their design was one of the earliest LED lights designs and they were extremely cheaply made and flimsy and were never likely to withstand the steam they were subjected to in a rangehood. He kindly had a go at fixing them but to no avail. My strongest recommendation is DO NOT BUY THIS RANGEHOOD, you will regret it. It looked nice and simple It is useless

AKR620 Carbon filter – Basically this range is quite good, it functions as it should. The one and only issue I have with this is that I cannot get a carbon filter for love nor money, and I've been trying for 18 months. Unfortunately the spare parts catalogue lists a large flat unit (FAT190 - 4812 817 18523) which does not even fit inside the unit. The unit has twin fans, each has a centrally located filter mount, and the operators manual shows that the unit should have 2 separate circular filter. It would be good if whirlpool could rectify this issue so that the correct filter can be supplied by the spare parts people. Works well, and extracts quite efficiently The listed filter is wrong and the LED lamps didn't last long (6 months)
