only using it as ebook reader/mp3 for its light weight n size – small light cheap (got it from harvey norman for $25) using ALDIMobile $5 pack which lets me receive calls w/o charge been using it since 2016 Show details
Yet another cheap product – Telstra sucks. These phones die within 3months. I've had 3, smashed all of them because they either turn on and off with no way to stop it, they're slow. Or they simply freeze. Telstra is the worst, never buying their crap again. I h a t e y o u Show details
Worst purchase ever – This by far is the worst purchase I have made in years. No one can seem to have the issues fixed. Duplicate text messages keep coming thru. I have received up to 99 dupes of the same texts. This started from day 1 of purchase. One last thing I can do before taking other action. Wish me luck.. Show details
Started great..2nd one gone dead – First phone was terrific. , lasted 2 years, suddenly stopped. ..bought another one and 3 months later, yep...it has just stopped. .very disappointed. ..yesterday I was recommending it to all my friends. ..not now..I know it's cheap but price should not be a factor as to how long it works. Not Happy – This is my second phone first 1 lasted 10 months got another on Monday lasted 2 days it just turned off black screen, took out battery nothing happened. Now i have 2 dead Tempo phones I know they are cheap mine cost $59 but you would expect it to last longer than 3 days, very disappointed. Show details
Worked for one day ! – Bought this phone to travel to Darwin. Activated and recharged it on the Wednesday. Made and received calls to ensure it worked. On the Thursday the screen went white and failed to work ever again. I knew it was receiving calls as it made noises but unable to answer them as nothing showed on the screen. Unable to make calls as no keypad on the screen either. Show details
cheap and nasty – I've had two of these phones and both had the same problem after a month or so. The phone would freeze and when I would take the battery out and put it back in it would just continuously flash the start logo and turn back off. Tried hard resetting the phones but they would continue to flash the start up logo and turn back off. Won't be buying another one. Show details
It's alright – It's definitely not a good phone, it's very slow, has very low storage, no front camera, bad quality back camera, too fragile it is only for someone who wants to say he has a smartphone it doesn't work with some types of headphones but probably because it is very cheap Show details
Very slow phone. Terrible battery problems – Bought this phone because I needed coverage in a country Telstra area. Right from day one, had problems with the battery not achieving full charge. After several weeks, where the battery would only reach a max of 30% charge, I purchased a new battery. 100% charge for 2 days, then back to 27-30% charge. When the phone works, it is slow and… Read more
unresponsive, and with very little usable memory. I found that after installing just 3 apps, the phone would report that there was insufficient memory . A good alternative is the Boost INDY, much better battery behaviour and a little faster - enough to make it usable.
Disappointing – Omg I have been threw 3 of these things they seem to only last three months I never dropped it always took care of them I turn it off at night as I charge it and then turn back on in morning we'll 2 of them just never turned back on I posted my daughters photos important documents and most importantly my ph numbers defiantly something wrong with this model but cheap $39 I paid Show details
Cheap phone – I used this as a temporary phone as it was locked to telstra and i am in a rural area. The phone was slow in performance and i found the key pad difficult to type text messages due to its size. Broke glass on screen after i dropped it first time. Show details
Good cheap phone for moderate use – This phone was purchased as a backup phone as I am prone to breaking/losing other phones. I found the performance and battery reasonable for the price. Feels a bit cheap and plasticy. The screen quality could be better as well Would be a good first phone as it is perfectly capable of running most apps and tasks. Nothing resource heavy however. Like I said, for the price it's hard to complain. Show details
Decent device, but slow – I originally bought it as a display only device, but now sits on my daughter's bedside table for a night light and music. I tried briefly to use it as a personal phone, but it was just too slow. Everything from unlocking to accessing the multitasking just took far too long. If phone and sms is all that's needed, it does the job and can be picked up for a good price - but don't expect too much. Show details

Cheap and it works – Suprised by how good this is for the cost. This is a great burner phone for a spare while traveling as you do not care if it breaks or is stolen. This is a 2G/3G Only phone. Be aware though ZTE are notorious for not providing updates to Android software. Show details
ok for the price – OK phone for calls, camera, wi fi etc. and reasonable set of apps incorporated. Bad for downloading new apps. Not enough memory always comes up when trying to add apps. Have only managed to add 2 new apps. Now no more room. Easy to use and no technical problems. But for $29! can't expect too much. Good phone for low end users like me but wouldn't be great for phonophiles.. Show details
$29 - what a bargain! – I purchased this as a burner phone, just to accept messages. I didn't expect much for $29, but to my surprise, the phone has functioned 100% since I purchased it a month back. No complaints so far, especially given the price, Who would have thought a mobile phone and SIM could be had for such a price?! Show details
Regret Purchase – Pros: Screen is good, battery life is fine, and phone calls good quality. Cost: purchased $29 from Officeworks Cons: Factory installed apps cannot be uninstalled. Storage Full message (odd). Clunky way of going about doing things. Phone: After setup, phone wanted to update default/factory apps, so I turned on wi-fi and went ahead. … Read more
Unfortunately the internal storage wasn't big enough to do this. I got a message saying it was unable to update all apps. I didn't think updating already installed apps on the phone would fill the internal storage - surely there is a fault somewhere? So as I only want the phone for calls/text, I thought I would uninstall/remove apps I didn't need - eg facebook, a lot of Google stuff (eg maps), Movies, Newstand - things like that.
But that's not possible, all I could do was uninstall what was updated. The apps that come with the phone cannot be uninstalled/removed.
So I thought, ok, I've made space by uninstalling the updates it was able to do before the internal storage got full. And I just won't update the apps. I then checked that all updates had "Always Ask" in case of automatic update.
So this is one feature I dislike immensely - not being able to remove/uninstall apps I don't want. And should these default apps that come with the phone take up 4GB - I wouldn't think so.
Now to my comment about Telstra Pre-Paid: so today I turn on the phone (after being off all night) and I get a message that I have used all of my $40 pre-paid credit - somehow the phone decided to use $36 worth of data this morning (18MB). Not happy Jan. Telstra live-chat was hopeless. [I have no problem with the $2/MB data charge (if I had used it).]
When setting up the phone, Telstra didn't recognize my street address, so that involved talking to Live Chat, and the next step following that, took several attempts over 12 hours, insisting I needed to talk to Live Chat for that as well. So the setup process, which should have been extremely straightforward (I'm not a computer novice either), was ridiculous.
My main phone is a Samsung S7 - great phone, easy to use. The Tempo however, isn't anywhere as user friendly. So three weeks later, I'm going to count my losses ($80), and purchase another (more expensive) phone, and probably choose another carrier, other than Telstra. One where I can control what apps I want on the phone.
ZTE TEMPO T815 – This would have to be the worst product to ever hit the market place, similar situation to others that have purchased, had phone 3 months then it decided to go its own way, continually attempting to re Boot itself with no success, lost Data ,lost income lost contact with clients, definitely would not recommend to purchase. But Made in China??????? like every thing else! Show details
Don't even bother – I got the Telstra Tempo as an upgrade from the iPhone 4, and I have gotta say, the Tempo is a poor excuse of an Android Phone. Pros: - Nice size screen - Decent battery life Cons: - I sometimes do not receive text messages on my phone. I sometimes get people wondering why I didn't respond to their text, but I have never received it. -… Read more
The 4GB internal storage is so small if you want to download a ton of apps. I cannot download the apps I need to use day-to-day due to the limited storage
- The phone screen uses plastic instead of glass which you would expect to be tougher than glass. But, I have found that the plastic in the smartphone is brittle and fragile. Not good.
- The 512MB of RAM is really not suitable for modern Android usage.
Overall, don't trust the Telstra brand when it comes to their own brand of smartphones. You can do better with a used Galaxy S3 from 2012 or the 2016 Galaxy J1.
ZTE Tempo T815 from mobiciti – I was looking for cheaper mobile mainly for my partner but something I would be happy with also. The ZTE Tempo came with 4gb internal memory, micro sd up to 32gb & the fm radio I needed for under $100. It had eveything I wanted for a 2nd mobile Mobiciti had it for under $60 and it was unlocked Show details
Shocking quality – I have had this phone for less than two months and it has decided to break down on its own. One minute I receive a phone call, the next it turns off and keeps rebooting in a never ending cycle. I booted it and tried all the options on the menu possible, all combinations, restoring to factory settings...etc. And can't get it to do anything other than resetting itself continuously. Any idea?? a great phone for a little while – the telstra tempo has a clear camera, lots of storage space, fast loading,i lasted six months but every time i dropped it it had no cracks .it a good touch but the thing that mucked it up was the pattern password .after a while i started freezing on me i am never using the pattern password again Show details

Great For Price Only Problems Are: – The Telstra/Android smartphone Tempo is great for it's AU$29 price and I use one personally, the only downsides are limited storage, but 4GB is stated on the box and some internet connections (rarely) and the camera quality isn't completely up to android standards, but overall, the Telstra Tempo is a fairly great phone if you need a smartphone urgently for a great price.
One mob phone you can do without – I bought a Telstra tempo mobile phone last year not as bad phone in all however ealry this year i dropped on the footpath and smashed the front glass, still was able to use it but i thought id take it to get the glass repaired but to my surprise it would cost more and others said you best to buy another so i thought okay i got by with it however… Read more
in the end the screen went black and that was the end off that
I went and bought another however the other part off the phone is a real problem is the camera when you take pictures for some reason it doesn't go on your memory card as it should and is a huge hassle off getting the pictures out, when you put your memory card into the machine, the picture i want are not on the card itself but in the system, so its a real hassle for this at least, like i only paid $59 for the phone all other features is fine although when it comes to it, i personally wouldn't buy another telstra brand if you asked me to pay $1000 Telstra brands are rubbish not worth the name they are stamped on full stop worthless as is
For those who are looking for a phone, don't buy any Telstra mob phone in the end they be more problem than they are worth i had a few few over the years and when they don't work that's when trouble follows so best advice don't buy cut your losses and look for other brands.
May 25th 2017 Update: Can live without it
This about mob phone is a huge problem within itself phone wise ringing receiving fine, however as many may know with most phones they do come with extras as in camera, This is a problem sure the camera works but the problem is getting those pictures out when you want to get them developed.
Sure has a memory card that stores pictures that u take well you think so but it doesn't. When you go to Ka Mart and slip the card into the machine to get your pictures out the pictures do show on the phone, but they are not on the memory card. Some how you have to transfer pictures from the phone to the card?
So i decided to buy a memory card reader as many pc the camera memory card is too small to slot into my pc that's where the memory card reader comes in but once you slip the mom card into my pc comes up blank?
And the phone does not come with any information at all so once bitten twice shy do not buy this model off phone as you will be riddled full off problems Telsta make these phone loves taking your money after that the problem is yours. So my advice steer clear off buying this model off phone you are better to spend a bit more off getting something worth your moneys worth.
July 14th 2017 Update: A phone i can do with
This mobile phone is cheap and nasty full off surprises comes with no information, at all just a phone for off mystery where you have to use your own idea off how it works.
Sure as a phone itself just to use is ok but using other things on the phone for example like the camera is another problem.
Like i said it came with no information you go to a Telstra shop they really don't want to know about it in the end i did work out how to unload the pictures and transfer them to my pc got that work out.
This is my 2nd phone decided to give it another try my first one i dropped on the ground and shattered the front glass still worked for a while but then it went dead.
So i decided to get the same brand but wrong choice in the end.
They are a cheap phone just to do the basic as in phoning and texting i mainly use it for.
Bought it at Kmart for $59 however i so won't be buying another.
If you make a product then you should be able to take it back however comes with the 12 months warranty and Kmart are good if any problems happens within the 12 months getting a refund.
I don't even use it as a phone – I bought a smartwatch the Moto 360 2nd edition and I have an iPhone 6 and the number of watchfaces was a bit limited. So I bought the cheapest Android device the ZTE T815 and got it working with the watch and the Android Wear. It was fiddly to pair it, It can also sync with WiFi so I'll need to evaluate that over the next few days as I expect to leave the T815 at home and just use it to change the watchfaces.
Surprisingly good – At $AU29 this cost a fraction the price of a 'proper' smartphone price, yet is only marginally inferior. Hard to find problems given such a cheap price..Great battery life (~2days straight with long conversations imbetween on country roads) audible both directions, more than adequate internet browsing speed, good interface response speed,… Read more
camera seems OK, what more do u want?
Only drawbacks c.f 'proper' smartphones are bit smaller screen and lower res for movies and browsing but I don't really do that. The phone is fine for reading PDFs and books, webpages, etc, which is what I do on the train.
Not environmentally sound thing to say, but who cares if it only lasts a couple months (only a week old is mine) you could buy a dozen of these badboys for same price as low end samsung with 90% of the functionality!
[Note that I have no reasons so far to suspect it won't last very long.]
I'm on Boost prepaid ($40/month for infinite talk/sms on telstra network) so the Telstra lock didn't bother me but may be a problem for others who pay more money for less service on other carriers.
Good size screen but lack of security – I have purchased three of the tempo phones and of them were taken over but smackers within hours of turning them on. With apps I can not do a thing with the buttons are all there but faded so you can not use them. Also the permissions of some apps have descriptions for what they do. But when they say you probably should not allow this, or not for… Read more
use by normal apps and have spelling mistakes like to to. The user of the phone has no control over these permissions and the phone will run on its own. Even things like face unlock but the front camera is not accessible. And background processes 10 times the foreground process. And chrome browser and play store not owned buy google. Software issues that need urgent attention because peoples privacy and identity are being taken over. ZTE, Google and the vendor's have a lot to answer for.
For It's Price Good Smart Phone – Great phone for an Android phone cheapest one around. It has a 2 mega pixel camera. 4x4" screen size. For some one who it's looking for a cheap, user friendly phone this is the one for u. It is a 3G phone. it is available outright or locked to telstra.
