Carsales.com.au Market Monopoly – Cost is a major factor in only awarding three stars. I think the service at $65 for a sale of a low-end used car is way overpriced, but carsales has an effective monopoly of… online selling, so we sellers are not in a position to choose. Also, I was really annoyed by the "number privacy" extra I chose. Potential buyers would call, my phone would start chiming, but they would give up and my phone would stop ringing within four rings. I have a long list of 00:00 calls on my record for this reason, some of them from the same number(s). One buyer rang something like six times within half an hour, one or two rings each time. I think buyers are either annoyed by the carsales message and give up, or reckon they can subvert the system by calling so many times that you ring back on *their* number and they then have *your* number; end of privacy. In the end, it was a waste of twenty dollars. If I was to use carsales again, I'd simply not put my number in the ad, forcing sellers to use email. Twenty dollars and lots of nuisance "calls" saved. |

Epson Stylus Photo TX810FW Poor build design – I was convinced to purchase this printer because of positive reviews, inc. Choice magazine's. I regret that now. As soon as I saw it, I was concerned about the build design and… quality, esp. in relation to the bits that moved eg the feed mechanisms. Then it took an email or two to Epson to get the bonus duplexer, six weeks late. It is noisy, no tparticularly fast, and seems to require cleaning frequently, esp. if you haven't used it for a while But teh worst problem is the flimsy feed mechanisms. The CD/DVD feed works sometimes, which means it ruins disks other times by printing in the wrong places (no, not a software problem). The duplexer malfunctions sometimes. But the worst is that the photo paper feed does not work at all any more. It tries to grab the paper and just grinds away. I've looked and there si nothing I can do to fix it. So I have lots of photos and lots of print paper but no way to print photos. So I have a printer that can't print photos, ansd is only fair on its other functions. No more Epsons for me. It looks nice, but it doesn't do what it should do. Flimsy, noisy, slow, broken photo feed. Looks nice, smallish footprint. Wifi seems to work. |
