Selected Review Dyson DC39 Animal Great Vac - Great Results – I would not normally buy an $854 vacuum but the Dyson had me at hello. (Also I got it on Sale). The Dyson looks great - the nozzle is a little chunky compared to other brands… which I was a little concerned about. However after giving it a go I am happy with it. The height was fine and I am around 172cm. The trigger head is powerful and I was surprised how much lint, hair and dirt it picked up. The ball/wheel thing on the trigger head is fantastic to move across the floor, even down the behind the couch. I had to change heads to go on the lino floor but again the normal head worked fine. ( Also came with a mini trigger had and a selection of on-board tools) The barrel run smoothly behind me on my carpet and lino (again short carpet) not as convincing as seen on the Dyson TV advert but alot nicer then my them my old barrel vac. A friends mother recently replaced her Dyson with a Bosch claiming it was too powerful. (I was NOT the DC39 - believe it was an older model) You can open the air intake to lessen the airflow (I am surprised Dyson doesn’t have variable suction as per Miele and Bosch) but on my short carpets it was fine without needing it. My friends mother has very lush think carpet which she said the suction was so great the head just stuck to the carpet and pushing it along was hard work. (maybe wrong head for the wrong job?) I am yet to try the machine on the drapes but again then give you an upholstery brush - so I am assuming they have thought of that. Your paying for patents and the name - the motor isn't as powerful as the competition but it doesn't have to be because of the design. Less wattage but with great suction. Less wattage = less cost to run I assume. The con's I have read about the vessel not holding enough I am hard pressed to worried about. I would suggest you vacuum more often. As it holds at least two litres and my 3 bedroom house didn't come close to filling it even with pet hair. I doubt any bag vacuum cleaner would hold two litres of dust. Overall I am very happy with my purchase so far. Looks Good, Easy to Use, Lots of attachments. No Variable Suction Control |
