Ryobi 36V 46cm Brushless Lawn Mower 6.0Ah Kit R36LMW16 No fuss and easy on the back – Purchased mower 1 month ago replacing heavier Greenfield 190cc 4 Stroke. Being over 60, the Ryobi is much lighter and makes mowing less of a strain on my back doing my 400 sq m… lawn. Its so light it rolls away from me when trying to insert battery and need to have it against a wall. Cuts well although can not handle tuffets of grass in back part of yard. In-built sensor will increase revs on sensing resistance but stops if more than it can handle. Was concerned battery would not last and would need to buy a back up battery but surprisingly half charge remains after mowing. The single arm blade is sharp although does not mulch leaves finer than the Greenfield and needs running over a couple of times. Charger only requires around 20~30min to charge a half charged battery. Have used silicone spray under deck to reduce grass build up as you can only use a blower and rag to clean rather than hose down. Lots of sharp edges from plastic moulding so use gloves. Does not draw from a second battery like the model above or allow choice of Regular, Econo or Power modes, but chose it for simplicity. Good lightweight high capacity catcher. |

Russell Hobbs Cambridge CMB303 Good but bad – Like all the other reviews it does the job but cleaning is fiddly, it leaks past the seal, which is visually unappealing, so never looks clean. Makes heaps of noise, and… discovered the bearing was wearing out. It was used once everyday for 8 months. The bearing had heaps of brown gunk in and around it. Finally the ball bearing fell out when I was cleaning it. I guess what do you expect for $49. |

Westinghouse Stainless Steel WRC913S Good and competent – Needed to replace an ANDI 90cm rangehood 15 years old and was limited in choice of brand & model by the overall max height the flue covers could extend to. The Westinghouse with… 1160mm put it in the lead as we needed 1120mm. Good brand and serviced by the Electrolux group. This has a shallow raked canopy reducing the distance from the grease filters to the motor, which I believe will help improve the air draw and easier to reach to clean. The motor is tucked up above the hood area. The 900m3/hr air flow is great, although noisy on high, but expected that. That's what's needed to do the job. Don't understand all the fuss about noise unless you want to pay a fortune for the ones with the motor fitted in the ceiling. The majority of our cooking is on low & medium, and can live with the noise for the odd occasion on high. We could not find a retailer with one on display we could try, so it was not an easy choice what with all the reviews complaining about noise. You can feel the air being drawn up which impressed. The sealed LED lighting is nice and bright and without the heat the old incandescents produced that baked on the grease and dulled them down. Compared to others we saw, the grease filters feel substantial and pop out easily. The touch control panel took a little while to get use to, particularly when going for a drink in the middle of the night. You can not see the panel at all, so worked out that by touching the panel on the left and moving to the right the light is the first thing to come on. Installation was relatively simple but you must be accurate with the positioning of the wall screws to hang the hood on, but particularly the brackets for the stainless steel flue extension piece - check twice drill once! and have someone else review. We noticed a few marks and light scratches on the flue covers. We are not perfectionists and really couldn't notice them when up. The surface is harder to clean off hand marks than our old ANDI. We got a great deal from Masters, who beat our lower than their price by a further 10%. Most of the other stores had no stock and one to two weeks was the average wait. Fortunately Masters had one only in stock. |

Omega Rental Cars You can believe what you read – Read and researched car rentals in Christchurch NZ over and over. I chose Omega Car Rentals as I like the no nonsense approach plus the great daily rates plus an additional 10%… special November discount. The reviews were good but in the back of my mind I thought these are too good to be true, particularly having experience with rental companies in Australia - the excess charges and horror stories I have heard were off putting. Well I took the punt and very glade I did. They were helpful, collected us for the vehicle pick-up, and no fuss. The car was a 2006 Toyota Camry - I asked for the 2400cc model rather than the 1800cc and got it. The vehicle inspection highlighted a few more marks and small dints but these were no real consequence to them. All through the trip (1500klm) the car performed well. It was clean and comfortable. On the way back to Christchurch a rock thrown up from recent road works cracked the windscreen. We hadn't taken their recommended excess insurance for $12 as we believed our Travel Insurance excess cover would be sufficient. I got quotes over the phone and even thought of getting it fixed myself, but believed my insurance would cover it. When I finally returned the vehicle and pointed out the damage the amount quoted was the same as the best quote I received. Although the windshield had at least 13 other stone chips mine was the one that made it illegal and had to be fixed. just bad luck. They were good about it and promised to email me the paperwork to assist my claim, which they did. One of their employees drove us to our next accommodation 5 klm away. A pleasant experience and an illuminating one as it changed my attitude and skepticism about reviews - and I am writing one to prove it. Pleasant and friendly service |

TID Travel Insurance Direct Broken WIndshield – Last thing I expected to happen in NZ but traveling the South Island after the earthquakes roadworks everywhere. After just having said how well the holiday went - bang - a large… rock hit & cracked the windshield. We had paid extra to reduce the excess and glad we did. Had quotes from NZ$280 to NZ$360. After getting back we put in the claim over the net - easy and simple. Mailed off the originals, although wasn't sure if I should claim in Aussie dollars or Kiwi dollars but a quick phone call cleared that up. After a couple of weeks and only expecting to get part of the claim back I got a notice of claim payment for the full amount. Couldn't be happier. Simple |Nothing a quick call couldn't sort out |
