Excellent – I run a 3D visualisation studio and had 10 dual Xeon Dell's and had been wanting to upgrade to multi core computers for a year. I was so close to going all Dell again but with the launch of the Mac Pro and with 8 cores (processors) in Feb 07 our world changed - we now have 10 of them in the studio (thats 80 processors !), are a solid investment, and are incredibly quiet, so quiet you don't even know they are on and working.
With Apple also launching these Mac's using Intel chips we have installed the free Boot Camp software which comes with the discs, which allows us to fire them up as Windows XP machines or as a Mac by hitting the option key when they turn on, then choose which operating system you want. So that's 2 computers for the price of one. My studio also runs them as Windows XP64 as you need to do that to be able to run more than 2GB ram.
They look amazing, are quiet, can have multiple operating systems, are reliable and are simply one of the fastest computers available, I should know my income relies on it. They are also very very cost effective especially if you compare prices to other computer vendors.
You will NOT be sorry to buy one of these babies ! The Mac Pro is like no other computer, especially with if you purchase the 8 core option . . . basically 8 computers in one. Its engineering is astounding and you can "hot swap" up to 4 hard drives with no down time. Its also the quietest computer I have used. Absolutely nothing !
