You can't go wrong with a dyson – My mother had a dyson for years (I loved using it) so when I moved out of home I was sad to leave my baby behind :( Thankfully my mum bought me a DC25 this year! It's got a ball - unlike her old one. But still works like a dream.

Young and old, a dyson is the greatest vacuum cleaner you will ever own. A lot of people say (and I agree) that your floors may look clean, but once you go over once with the dyson you'll be surprised at how much they pick up.

Can't spruke enough about this vacuum cleaner :D Great suction, low maintenance (barely any), convenient Can be a bit loud - some are prone to a bit of a whistling sound.
