I found it good for low-end use however charger has died and battery appears to have failed after no – Purchased X101CH at Harvey Norman for fairly good price 3-4 yrs ago. Worked well overseas for skype, emails, etc. Great for surfing in bed. However started to freeze, requiring removal of battery, and finally wouldn't work at all. The charger has died, also have figured out it's probably got a dud battery (works ok on mains with no batt), which is… Read more
disappointing considering batteries should last say 8-10 yrs. It is of course not suited to heavy use like video editing (unless you're very patient).
Asus EEE PC X101CH - Extremely Disappointing – We purchased this Netbook as part of a package through Harvey Norman. This Netbook worked great for three months and we've had issues with it since. It has been repaired under warranty and works fine for up to two months (if we're lucky), but then the issues occur again. We have experienced issues with the system booting, freezing when using… Read more
programs, and general slowness. Even a fix that we were taught by the Harvey Norman repair team now does not work. This has been our first experience with an Asus product and will be the last. Size and weight Never ending issues

No caps lock light, phone call sound not good – There is no caps lock light, so when you use it, let's say for passwords that are case sensitive, you have no clue why your password isn't accepted because you don't know if the caps lock is on or off! Very, very frustrating. I made a phone call with the computer and it was difficult to hear the person and they said I sounded very far away. … Read more
Some frustrations with the keyboard or mouse pad doing things that I don't intend. The dimming screen is frustrating too. Also would prefer a dull surface, which would show less, rather than the shiny black. The sound with Skype was good. It's nice and light. Excellent – Best computer I have bought ever and thats from owning three prior to this machine. I bet that I'll have it for another year or so before upgrading the RAM and possibly the HDD, however for someone that's just needing a laptop to check out the Weather (Storms etc) or dropping interstate and stopping at every Macca's because of the free wifi to… Read more · 1
check the surf reports, this little laptop is for you! Its absolutly flawless! I own the 900HA and I have found it a brilliant machine for the last two years and have given it an absolute flogging within regards to use and travelling around the traps of Australia.
The battery is a 6 Cell and I have noticed with age that the life isnt as long as it once was, however 2 hours of use isnt bad for quick wifi link up's at macca's to check out the weather / surf reports when away or interstate. The overall chasis of the machine is "ROCK SOLID" - with no wear or tear, cracks or areas that are peeling, some of the keys on the board are shiney but thats nothing to worry about... Furthermore I have installed Microsoft Office 2007 and it works flawlessly!! All the needs, wants and have nots of a larger machine... The latest and greatest of the EEE Family have batteries that last about 8 hours and that would be great if there were a battery pack that could be adapted for the 900HA... But nothing else to report.
1000HG with inbuilt 3G for mobile internet. Great travel PC! – The EeePC 1000HG is a rare model as it is fitted with an internal 3G modem allowing a sim card to be fitted for phone and mobile internet. The quality of thi netbook is excellent and I have had no issues with reliability in 20 months, apart from Windows, It was originally loaded with Windows XP, which was OK but had the usual weaknesses. installed Linux Mint 9 and the machine ran much better and more reliably. However, at that stage Skype for Linux was not very good, so we bought Windows 7 Home Premium and another 1GB of RAM (total of 2GB, which is the maximum). It's still not as stable or responsive as Linux was on 1GB, but will do.
The small screen size can be a bit of a pain, requiring scrolling/panning to view pages or images that would be fullscreen on larger PCs. Sometimes on certain applications the control buttons (like "OK") are off the bottom of the screen so it is necessasry to tab and guess. Light, handy, reliable, good battery life, Asus qualty.

should have bought larger model – I originally bought the EeePC for it size to travel with for downloading images from the cameras which it does fine but using it for other things it is way too slow especially to boot up takes for ever, and find it locks up or not responding if you try to do more than 1 thing or when loading a program, it can sit there for a long time no doing… Read more
anything, if trying to use Skype forget it completely locks the unit and have to remove battery to turn it off, holding the start button down won't work either, and reinstall it to be able to reboot, Windows 7 starter misses too many things, the 1.6GHz speed too slow, Recently bought an ASUS K53S brilliant, its not the pc but the windows program that is its main downfall Ideal for storing images, very good screen, light weight for traveling Too slow to boot and load programs, locks up too easily, not ideal for general computing, can't use Skype
Asus EEE: Worst hardware failure rate of any computer I've owned – I purchased an eee 1000 that started falling apart after about a half year. Asus refused to honour the warranty, saying that continually inserting and extracting a USB device in the USB port that eventually disintegrated was a user problem. I gave that one away. I found an eee 1008HA on a trade me site at a throw-away price; the monitor failed… Read more
after about 1/2 year. Asus is an oem supplier trying to sell complete systems, but without the quality requirements of IBM or HP or whomever they supply, don't produce high quality, reliable products. Avoid this brand. Used they're very cheap, as they should be, but very unreliable. Asus has the worst reliability of the Asus, HP, IBM, Lenovo, and Acer (best) laptops I've purchased.
Piece of junk – The screen cracked on my machine in 10 months. The company said it was twisted although i merely opened the screen to use the computer. Was not covered by warranty although world-wide there has been a lot of problems with cracked screens. Warranty service was rude. I had to throw the computer out. I will never buy an Asus again. Small size was great Poor screen quality; poor warranty service
Excellent machine, great price – I have a previous Asus, which was 3 years old. After three years the battery was still going strong, at max four to five hours! I bought another one called EeePC Seashell Series 13.1 inch screen, I love it, the keyboard is also very ergonomic, as was the previous keyboard. I also have dropped it three times, and it still worked. Size, ease, comfortable the battery charger connection is very small, and easily bent
Lasted 18 months and kept over heating – Worked well when bought it, when I bought it to go overseas ,it had little use when I returned,I tried to skype with it but it kept dropping out, that was to start with, finally it would last for about five minuets and cut out completely a minuet later the back was very warm. I cleaned out any dust and lint from around the cooling fan but that made no difference. Was working well Kept over heating
Best Netbook under $250 – Picked mine up at Harvey Norman. It's a 1015 PEM model running dual operating systems - Express Gate (Linux variant) and Windows 7 Starter. It has nice bright LED screen, 250GHDD, USB 3, Bluetooth 3, WiFi, very light, doesn't burn your lap, good for Skype having camera and mic. Black ONLY. more like 7 h as a Netbook (on the Net) might get 9 off the net.
Very happy with its function as mobile computing device. Very well made.
ASUS quality. Dual Core 1.5 GHz N550 by Intel. Window 7 boots in 15 seconds. Plenty of ports 3USB, LAN, audio, Video etc No media pack in Win 7 Starter. Not well balanced (flips backwards). Express Gate slow to connect toWiFi WANs with Firewalls. 8h battery life NB complains when 7h used.
I love my baby lappy! – Small and compact, easy to use and take with you any where. comes in a variety of colours to suit your preference dual OS fast bootup, ergonomic chiclet keyboard. Take this asus any where and do it in style. webcam, windows starter and energy efficient. Inexpensive, energy efficient and stylish
Very light, great battery life! – I bought my EeePC with Linux on it because it was almost 150 cheaper than the windows version, nevertheless, it wasn't a problem to install Windows XP on it. It has a very small keyboard that gives you a good feeling while typing on it. The touchpad on the other hand is very hard to handle, it will make your life so much easier if you connect a… Read more

It's not an outstanding machine but it's the perfect companion if you like to work on the run or if you want a laptop with you at uni that is not going to send you to the quiropractor at the end of the term for carrying so much weight on your shoulders on a daily basis. Good value for money, maybe the lightest in the market Touchpad not very smooth and quite hard to control.

Good – So overall if you need to surf the web on the go and type up documents or even for social networking (email, IM, Skype/Oovoo, etc.) this netbook does the work quickly and perfectly. It's battery life is alone, a reason to choose this netbook over all the others on the market. Good..good..good.. like this product Battery Life, Easy to get started, easy to use Comes with unnecessary stickers boasting about it's battery life and other specs, Some bloatware to remove
Good – its pretty good for a tiny computer. quick to boot up and does everything a normal laptop does but much easier to travel around with. could be a bit lighter. for me the battery life is much better than my laptop, approx 4hrs. playback of videos could do with better speakers. my major gripe is that the wireless card is no good. it is very slow and… Read more

Good – Designed for portability- I love it- use it much more than my old desktop, and like it much more than the ACER laptop(with +Vista+) I endured briefly. than it is a defective desktop- and let's face it- these days you're really lucky to buy something that actually works fit for purpose for the warranty period Just about everything From Day One lousy battery life- may even approach ASUS about this- never more than 3 hours from full charge
One more usb port would have been good- since I plug in a mouse whenever I use it at home- the clicker thing is really horrible.
Probably more me or XP problem- can't set up a LAN successfully using the crossover cable sold for purpose- deliberately bought an XP one 'cos I'd read W7 Starter wouldn't recognise XP on a LAN
Good – The eeepc is a good option, but MAKE SURE you do research about which model and operating system to get. programs. Boot up is fast and loading time is fast considering the low ram. It has some bugs which Asus has not fixed with patches. Firstly, it sometimes won't connect to wifi connections on the first try or at all, saying 'No working leases in persistent database'. Many people seem to have this problem on the internet and no conclusive solution has been found. Thankfully I find that disconnecting and reconnecting causes it to work 90% of the time on my computer.
Excellent – Overall a very good netbook as far as netbooks go. If you are expecting to do any major photo editing or major video editing then this will not be the netbook/laptop for you. Perfect for email, browsing and video Skype.
Great sound card.

Battery only charges to 94% now after 2 years of use.
Finger magnet.

No built in DVD but THERE'S NO ROOM. So no surprise there.
Excellent – The is an awesome mini notebook. I purchased the Asus eee pc 10 inch screen about a year ago and I love it. enough to do most things on. Word processing, interent use, photos etc. This model doesn't has a CD/DVD drive there have been times where this would have been really useful but for the sake of a smaller design i think its worth it...we are about to fix the prob by purchasing an external USB DVD drive :-)
Excellent – We have the Eee PC with the 10 inch screen and we took it backpacking all around Europe. At just over 1kg, it was brilliant for that use, as I could stick it in my day pack and take it everywhere with us no worries. And with free wifi in Starbucks and McDonalds (as well as other places) we were able to check our emails and other stuff while out… Read more
and about. After getting home, we still use our Eee PC all the time when travelling, and also when we just couldn't be bothered to boot up the desktop. The 10" version comes with a keyboard that's big enough to easily touch type on after using only a couple of times, but still small enough to fit in your handbag etc. Love my EeePC! Compact; light weight; easy to use; depending on the model, you can still get a decent sized keyboard; good battery life; pretty tough
Excellent – FANTASTIC. It's everything you wish a little PC could be. Laptops seem so big and bulky after you've used one of these little gems. of these ASAP. These small computers are fantastic! Coming with Linux (but now Windows XP), you can do most things that you'd use a desktop PC for: surfing the net, e-mail, writing documents, playing games, and so on. There are actually several different models of the Eee (not "EEE") PC in existence, but this review looks like it's for the 701 even though it doesn't specifically state it. The 701 is what I own, and it came with Linux. However, it's a very easy task to reformat the hard drive and put Windows XP on it -- even the manual that comes with it explains how. It has a 4 GB hard drive, but has an SDHC slot, so I bought a 16 GB SDHC card, giving me a total of 20 GB space for Windows and apps, games, music and videos. More than enough for mobile use! The screen size is 7 inches, with a native resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, but this is easily boostable to 1000 x 600 with a freeware app called "AsTray Plus" and the right video driver. It also has a 900 mhz CPU which is UNDERCLOCKED to only 600 mhz, so there is another freeware app called "eeectl" which lets it run at its full native 900 mhz for extra oomph (and it's safe because it's not actually overclocking). Comes with a wireless modem and webcam too, so surf the net wherever a free signal is available (Maccas hotspots for example). You can also plug it into a regular PC monitor, and a car power adapter is available for use while travelling. Nothing much really to dislike. The usual things like battery life could be longer, but mine lasts about 4 hours before plugging it in to recharge. The keyboard is hard to get used to at first, because you're used to a real full-sized PC keyboard, but hey, it's better than using a stylus!

Good – Asus Eee PC is a great computer for travel, on people who are on the go and people don't require in depth computing but just want to surf the net without burning a whole in their pocket. Excellent – If you are familiar with Micorsoft, this only takes a short time to get used to Linux and Open Office in the EEE701. But for the substantially reduced price compared to the Microsoft installed versions for not much difference in functionality - why spend the extra? While it has some drawbacks, for under $300 for the 701, this is great value. The… Read more

Excellent – Great for sitting in bed and using it, take it anywhere it weighs next to nothing. Great to travel with, you can use an external DVD drive and USB devices so it can have all the facilities of a large computer, keyboard is small but still ok to use. Excellent – The ASUS Eee PC 1000H is a fantastic product if you are a student or regular traveller. It is well made and has a quality feel to it. The 1024 x 600 resolution LCD screen is sharp and clear. At the top of the screen frame, there is an in-built 1.3MP webcam. I didn't have any issues with the smaller keyboard. 92% the size of a full keyboard. It has a 10/100 Lan Ethernet port, Bluetooth v2.0 and a card reader that accepts MMC, SD and SDHC formats. In the box along with the Netbook was a quickstart quide, User Manual, cleaning cloth, AC power adapter which is light weight too, Support DVD if you ever want to rebuild your Netbook and a black case made from a soft velvet like material. The O/S Win XP Home was at SP3 level, so only had about 30 updates to download to have it up to date. Interestly IE 6.0 was loaded, not IE 7.0. I installed Firefox 3.0, so it didn't matter much to me. The battery is a 6 cell with a capacity of 6600mAh. It clips in from the back and fills the gap between the screen and the keyboard. With the battery attached, this model netbook weighs 1.45Kg (3.2 pounds. I had no issues connecting to my home wireless lan and the faster n-draft Wi-Fi comes standard. To keep the costs down, only 1GB RAM is installed. There is only one Dimm slot, so to upgrade you need to replace the 1GB with a 2GB stick. This model has a RRP of $799 according to the price sticker on the box, but paid $640 at Harvey Norman. Not the cheapest Netbook around, but happy to pay the extra for a slightly larger 10" screen and bigger keyboard and higher capacity 160GB hard drive. I am very happy with this product and would highly recommend it for people on the go. 160GB storage, 10" screen, small lighter weight form factor, 3 USB 2.0 ports, Wireless b/g/n, VGA out to attach bigger monitor, Matt screen for better use outside. Long battery life which is rated 4 to 7 hours. Uses standard sata 2.5" HDD, so can upgrade to increase your disk storage. Some other brand netbooks use non standard size HDDs, so watch out for this. No built-in DVD/CD drive. Need to attach USB external drive. Only 1GB Memory. There are videos on You-Tube on how to DIY easy upgrade to 2GB.
Excellent – I bought mine specifically for travelling overseas, and easily sourced a US adaptor to charge it (so no hassles with converting frequency and voltage for the power supply, etc), and I'm absolutely in love it. keyboard does take some getting used to, but once I worked out the scroll shortcuts for the touchpad, I was off to the races. Mine uses Linux, not Windows, and it's very fast and stable, and starts up ridiculously quickly. I've found Linux very easy to adapt to (as someone who is primarily a Windows user) and am really happy with it. Really, I don't believe that the Asus can be beaten for price and value, it's a really nice, reliable computer - now that we're home from our travels, I still use it every day out of preference! Almost everything! Beautifully small, perfectly designed, really a great little netbook. Relatively short battery life, compared to other laptops on the market.
Excellent – I own the eee 1000h and I use it as my 'on the train work computer' because of its small size and low power consumption.
