1 Graham B.  · Lasted about 3 weeks before it started tripping the circuit in the house electrical system. Cleaned the humidifier as advised to no effect.
1 Elisa G.  · Very unhappy with this product – Vaporizer does not turn on. Lid is hard to click back in.
5 Emma S.  · Fantastic – Great product works amazing cleared my babies chest would richly recommend
2 Pebbz  · Trips power – Bought two for each of my children both units trip power everytime. I wasted $100
3 Krystal c  · Tripping power out – This is a great product for children, but now it trips the power out my baby is 5months and I needed it,very dissapointing
1 Sarah  · Tripped my power – This unit has tripped our power and will not work. It's also a pain in the butt to clean. The cord is to short.

The unit stems well enough, however, it is very difficult to clean and must be cleaned daily. The heater core must be submerged in 4” of vinegar almost up to the head. You have to hold hole at the bottom fill it with water through the vent and… Read more

then shake back and forth to get the gunk out. This process has to be repeated several times to get most of the gunk out. The process is messy and tiresome. I wish that I had not bought it because it is so difficult and costly (large amount of vinegar) to clean properly

Follow-up  · It was too difficult to clean and fill. I used it once and threw it in the garbage. That’s what it’s worth.

This vaporiser is so loud, it’s like listening to my kettle at almost boiling point all night. The tub also gets extremely hot to the point I put a box under it as well as a towel as I was worried it was going to damage anything it’s sitting on. It was a recall replacement for my euky bear. I’ve had 3 euky bears and none have been anywhere near as… Read more

noisy as this or as hot to touch. It’s also a nightmare to empty. Disappointing there are no other brands on the market in Australia. Can’t use it

Ah, Vicks. I bought the Vicks Vapouriser out of childhood loyalty — nothing says “nostalgia” like that menthol hit when you’re sick. But wow… who designed this thing? First off, the size. This thing is massive. I expected a neat little bedside companion, not a plastic UFO that looks like it could double as a foot spa. Who seriously approved this… Read more

design? Did you guys trial it before marketing this?

The top section? It doesn’t “slot on” so much as it plays nightly Jenga with me while I wrestle it into place. And the plastic — cheap and nasty. Also why is it opaque? It's basically impossible to see and filling it with water becomes a guessing game: Am I at the max line? Am I about to flood my bedroom? Who knows!

My biggest gripe is trying to empty the tank after use. Emptying it is a whole new level of comedy. The tank has this bizarre curved lip that guarantees you will never get all the water out. Like how? Seriously, HOW??? Swirl it? Flick it?? Doesn’t matter — there’s always a little left behind.

And speaking of leftover fluid, why on earth is the leftover water tinged red? Is this normal? Am I unintentionally creating a small pool of Vicks-flavoured sangria every night?

It does, technically, produce steam and clear my nose, so it’s not a total failure. But every time I use it, I can’t help but wonder if I’m doing it wrong — or if the design team just gave up halfway through and went to lunch.

Nostalgia: 10/10. Actual user experience: 3/10. Weird red water: deeply concerning/10

Flakes coming from filter every use – I like the unit and concept, however am concerned with these “flakes” that come out of the filter unit after most uses. I clean it out and ensure its dry before reuse however this seems to be unavoidable? Not very comfortable with this. Have only had it for a year and wouldn’t recommend it as I cant find help with what this is or why it’s happening.. Show details

Particles in the water – New and Need for my Asthma. Called hotline for email and I couldn't really talk but asked for the email to send pictures and ask questions through email. The woman refused (literally) and I wasn't given an email. I use filtered water. It worked but left lots of particles of black in the water. I now hav decided the smaller particles it produces are likely in the vaporized air it produces. Show details

Amazing – I’ve been using this the last couple of winters, since my son was a baby and it’s amazing, perfect for young ones, easy and soothing to medicate children when they are seeing , it’s a life saver, so quiet, fast working , long lasting. I am very surprised at the bad reviews maybe they got the old model Show details ·  1

Humidifier fix – This product works as intended. You must clean the product after every use. If you do not clean it you will deal with the same issues as everyone else: circuits shorting out, spitting/gargling water, black residue build-up in tank, etc... After about a week it started shorting. It flipped the switch and I lost power to that side of the house. … Read more

After cleaning the humidifier, it worked like normal.

Keep it clean after every use. Plain and simple.

Decent, better than the alternative – I have had 2 of these, well, they looked a little different so they may have been an older iteration. One lasted well over 15 years, the other one was gifted second hand when we had our third child so I didn’t know exactly how old it is, but we used it for three years. We replaced the 15+ year old one with another brand when we couldn’t get the… Read more ·  1

Vicks one (eufy bear or something like that). I am going out to buy another Vicks today. I prefer it because 1) it seems to vaporise much more solution over night. And 2) I think it’s safer. On the second point - the hole where the steam comes out is recessed and there is a grate well above it. I didn’t think much about this until one of the toddlers put her hand directly onto the hole (unprotected) of the other one getting a nasty burn as a result. I had not experienced the power tripping until last night when it tripped the power 3 times before I realised where the fault was. This one is 3+ years old The price difference between this and the other is about $20, but if I get 3-5 years out of it, I feel the safety aspect makes it worth it.

Poor advertising of this product – I bought this because of the volume of water it held. Thinking that one and one-half gallons of water would mean longer time between refills. Much to my surprise when I discovered that this device only vaporized one gallon of water. When it got down to one half gallon it turned off. And it only took one gallon to refill it to the full mark. Show details ·  1

Oh gee no other word to describe this than crap! Have to shake it upside down to empty all the water out. Takes me nearly five minutes to line up the lines so I can attach the head so almost waking my baby whilst mucking around with it. No option to put a baby additive in it. I got it as part of the Euky Bear recall because I couldn’t wait a month for a replacement Euky but I have so much regret! Show details

Impossible to clean, crappy design to fill water n handle. Need a doctorate degree to fix the top. If you somehow manage to go through this pain n plug it in, it doesn’t turn on or trips. Wonder how is it even being sold with all these flaws. Wish I read reviews before purchasing this product. Would give negative star if there was an option. Show details

Very poor design, top is hard to get to fit on. The plastic base gets so hot to the touch. Awkward to fill up and hold and carry due to shape and size. Super noisey to run at night sounds like a kettle boiling all the time. Extremely disappointed. The absolute worst product. Product heats up way too hot to the touch, dangerously. Cheap plastic used, difficult to assemble every time. It emits way too much steam compared to the euky bear. Get the euky bear. Its safer and and way less likely to result in burns. Show details

This is one of the most badly designed products I have ever encountered. It is almost impossible to align the lugs to put the top on; the maximum waterline is only visible in the brightest of lights; and the rim of the bowl is so sharp that it is hard to avoid cuts when cleaning and drying it. I have seldom encountered a product with so many design faults. Show details

So noisy and poor design – Don’t buy this. First you cannot sleep next to it as it’s very noisy with gurgling fast boiling water especially when full. It’s difficult to slot the heater onto the bottle fumbling around to get it right. The base also gets quite hot so it’s not exactly safe around kids. When emptying, you cannot get the water out of it without shaking as it… Read more

holds water even upside down. Finally it has a seriously short power cord and no on/off switch which means you have to unplug it to turn it off. It’s a badly thought through, cheaply Chinese made unit and not worth buying. Took it back for a refund.

Vicks should not be making electrical products like this – Expensive buy from Chemist Warehouse, was priced at more then the Euky Bear unit which I previously had used and loved. Instantly disappointed from the moment I opened the box. Large and Clunky look, and the plastic base for inserting the top is cheap and nasty. It has a crude slot that is difficult to clip the unit into after refilling with… Read more

water. Awkward to assemble, with a couple of different slots that make no sense and just make the simple act of refilling and clipping together unnecessarily difficult. It is very noisy, sounds like a kettle boiling continually. The base unit gets very hot, which is a lot of water sitting there and would be using a lot of unnecessary energy and power. The final straw in terms of frustration with this design, is a "Safety Feature" they have concocted, which makes absolutely no sense at all. They have a 2 minute timer, so that if you unplug the unit, to refill or move with your sick child to another room, then the unit won't restart. Well, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. As a single parent, who is working and looking after a sick child, to have this occur in the course of your day is infuriating. No parent has time to stand around for minutes on end, and try different combinations of plugging in and unplugging again, and wait for indeterminate periods of time to simply provide some humidity for your child. I can only warn others to NOT buy this unit, and for me I now consider the Vicks brand completely incapable of simple product design. Their chest rub in a jar is a staple product in our family, however this product demonstrates that they have complete incompetence and inexperience when it comes to designing a simple electrical product for users. The Vicks company have completely failed here, and I will be very hesitant to purchase anything from them again that is not a simple cosmetic product in a jar. Complete fail.

Absolutely Dangerous – We just purchased a replacement for our Vicks Warm Mist Vaporizer, which is another Vicks Warm Mist Vaporizer. why we replaced the other. It did the same thing, it just started popping breakers out of nowhere. I've known the Vicks name since I was a small child and never knew their products to be shotty or short lived. We had the other Vaporizer for two months. Walmart will replace this one with a refund, but not the other. We will not buy Vicks anymore....one bitten and you know the rest. We can't have our house burning down, as that is not the Warm mist we're looking for.

Terrible – I was given this unit as a replacement for a euky bear machine that I really liked. In comparison, this unit is LOUD (woke up the kids), and even a towel underneath as suggested by the company makes no difference, the lid of the unit is difficult to get on and off, the water reservoir is difficult to fill and gets so HOT during operation, and then… Read more

Terrible design – I would agree with all the poor reviews on here. The first time we used it, it tripped the power out. Too much? – I think my husband may have put too much of the vicks liquid into the tank. Only because in the last 24hrs my throat is so sore and seems to be getting worse. Not as good as it could be – I bought this item a few years ago when I had a bad chest infections. It operates as described but, if used without aromatherapy or Vicks VaporRub, the smell of hot plastic is overwhelming, even with a cold! The use of a stable, BPA free plastic would be a better option. Few people know of the hormone-disrupting nature of outgassing plastics. I… Read more

set mine up outside for hours, let it sit in fresh air for days, used a safe sanitiser in it, all to no avail. I got it out again this week (another bad cold) and its just the same. Save your receipt! – Bought in June for sick family including a toddler during Winter. Used it a few times then cleaned it and stored it away. Poorly designed but did the job well.
