Overall:
I used to live in the swan valley, the attractions are good such as the many wineries, few breweries, fine dining and of course the chocolate factory. Is hard to get lost as there are only two roads to see the main attractions. However with all the alcohol around makes it a horrible place for the locals, as there are so many drunk yobbos drink driving and swearing as only perth locals no how to do! Never go during spring in the valley as it is completely over rated and you will just end up being abused by fowl mouthed patrons!
Cons:
the cheese factory has closed down and moved to midland
you would be a little stuck if wine is not your first choice
Overall:
good place to visit-highly recommend-i hear that mondo nougat and stewarts resturant are great places as well-they are fairly new.

Pros:
if you're cashed up and are into wine it's a fantastic place to visit. there are also some nice restaurants. It's only about 20 minutes from Perh CBD so it makes an ideal day-trip.
Cons:
in all honesty, it is an ugly place. it's too much of an area at work to be pretty.
if you're not into wine, it's a bit dull. there are a couple of nice places to have picnics et al, but that's about it. there is a spattering of craft stores that are average but charge above-average prices. while there are good restaurants there are also some bad ones - but this doesn't stop them charging like a wounded bull.
Overall:
if you're not into wine you can take it or leave it, really. there's a lot of potential for it to be a really great place but it hasn't got there yet.
if you are into wine, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better spot.
