20 years of perfect sewing – After 20yrs of perfect sewing. Never missed a beat. Now having a issue. Hopefully have changed to different repairer. Will be heartbroken if unable to fix. I have sewn everything with this machine. Doesn't matter how thick, thin , it adjusts to anything. 10+ out of 10 from me. Show details

My go-to machine ! – My MC 9000 is a workhorse. It is my go to machine for everything. I am the original owner, have owned it for over 20 years and it still works like new. I am now into FMQ and it works like a gem. I did find, however, that it FMQ’s better with the feed dog up. I have Never had it serviced and only clean it with a little lint brush. I have replaced the foot pedal twice and the light once but that’s it. I purchased it in 1994.  Show details

Costly bad purchase – Bought this machine years ago as it was highly praised by my sister, a professional award winning quilter and teacher. I was not familiar with the brand, but as she praised it so, I bought it. Have regretted it ever since as it has had problem after problem. And been in the shop far too often. The screws that hold the needle and the sewing feet… Read more

loosen all the time, no matter how tight I turn them. The bobbin chase is in constant need of cleaning and air blowing. The stitching is not all that even no matter how the machine is adjusted. Now it just stopped sewing, giving me messages to raise the presser foot and the needle, turn off the machine and on again, but it still won't work. This was a floor model store demonstrator with the same warranty as a new machine and included several embroidery discs and at roughly half the cost of a new 9000 - so how could one pass up that kind of deal. Here's the kicker - my previous machine was a Sears Kenmore and had exactly the same problems. Surprise - the Kenmore was made by Janome!! Need a sewing machine, but will not get another Janome OR one with all the bells and whistles. Don't remember exactly when this was purchased.

Perfect computerised sewing machine – Really perfect computerised sewing machine, I love to work with it Without any problem because everything is set automatically and it has a memory card comes with wonderful patterns plus alphabetical pattern... I'll try to make more customisation for more pattern, unfortunately min is 110v but I bought a voltage comverter and it worked.  Show details

MC-9000 20years old – I bought my MC-9000 in 1996. Had fairly regular servicing. Has sewn dresses, cot sheets, a wedding dress, and maroon velvet curtains plus 3 pass lining for a new house, some 3 1/2 drops wide. Recently after a service I mentioned to the sewing shop owner/servicer that I noticed part of the screen was a bit unresponsive that previously had done so.… Read more

He then informed me that the screen was 'dying' and that it could not be replaced as parts are not obtainable anymore! I guess after 20 plus year's understandable. Not sure how long it will last, or how to dispose of it when it finally becomes non-workable, but all in all, a good machine. Incidentally this was the first computerised machine I have personally purchased.

I feel computerised machines are con jobs! – Because of personal tragedies I could not use my machine for many years, now because of calibration problems and bobbin problems etc may not be able to be fixed, waiting for quote now! They just tell you that you should use machine regularly... you are not told that at purchase point!!! People are fooled with computerised machines, I have 2 old… Read more

mechanical ones which are perfect and I will use them, but I spent 1000's on this useless Janome. Worse still my husband bought my daughter one at the same time and it hasn't been used for years so will probably be useless too. You are not told!!! I will write to their head office in Japan and voice this complaint, I would never buy Janome or any computerised machine again. Lifespan is too expensive for time used!!!

Love my machine – I purchased this machine in 2008 second hand. I love it. I have done loads of embroidery on it as well as regular sewing. I don't think it was used much previous to me so I have been very lucky I would say. I transport it at least once a week to my regular sewing class and a couple of times it has tipped over with no ill effects. Is very good love it.

machine now obsolete – If the computer pad dies it can no longer be replaced as the machine is obsolete. What ae we supposed to do with a perfectly good sewing machine, still perfect in appearance, but it doesn't work? What a waste. My old Bernina is 47 years old and still purrs like a kitten Sewed well while it worked unfixable now it has broken down

Loved This Machine! – I purchased my MC9000 in 2000 and loved it. With machine embroidery advancing so much after a few years I found I was limited in the size of the designs I could do on it, so ended up purchasing 350e. Consequently I only used the MC9000 for general sewing. I loved this machine but one day while sewing an almost completed quilt it died on me. The… Read more ·  1

cost of having it repaired and that it was obsolete I ended up replacing it. Beware with computerised machines that if one of the computer cards fails it is costly to repair!! Sewed beautifully, walking foot was great. Limited in size of embroideries it will stitch. Now obsolete.

Bad – Unhappy with the embroidery features that was the main reason for purchasing this machine. What an expensive mistake. Research thoroughly before purchasing. The machine initially was very good. Everyday stitching terrific. If you do not purchase from a dealer, it can not be serviced. The touch screen, over time, does not react to touch. It… Read more

appears to be unsynchronized with the icon when embroidering. The bobbin case cannot be replaced; no longer being made. The thread gets tangle in the bobbin area so you have to take the mechanism apart to continue sewing.
