2002 Yamaha XV1600A Roadstar – I own a 2002 Yamaha XV1600 Roadstar Custom. It was customized in Victoria to look like a Harley Fatboy. Its travelled 75,000 KMS and has not missed a bet just keeps going strong. At 50,000 the gearbox was rebuilt using much bigger and heaver gears under a world wide recall. The engine was also given a good upgrade. Since this was done I have… Read more

only changed the air filter and oil filter to a K&N.

It has not had a tune up.

I use Bell Ray oils. Engine: Bell Ray SAE 10W40 Ester Blend Gearbox Bell Ray Gear saver Oil 80W.

I have owned many motorbikes and by far this is the best road bike cruiser yet.

I could not afford a Harley Fatboy at the time but have never looked back.

The 1600 v-twin engine is a monster

On the dyno they took it up to 189 kms/hr never missed a beat.

When they built this bike Yamaha got it right.

I have a friend with a 1999 xv1600 which has done over 150,000kms and he road it hard.

Yes its still going strong.

Our weekend escape – We bought this baby 2 years ago now Unfortunately, you can no longer see she is a xv1600a, done heaps of work to her because the last bloke that owned her didn't really look after her, she had a serious case of POS, for those of you that don't understand (Previous Owner Syndrome) We have put over 10,000 on her and she just purrs like a kitten. Really easy to customize, Great bike in the wet, Bit heavy for mud though Show details

Best bike Ever – I've had my 2001 Roadie for over 10 years, buying it second-hand in 2004 with just 5000km on the clock. It's done over 70,000kms now, and I haven't had a thing go wrong with it. I've added a few accessories and it looks great. Can't fault it for comfort and style. It came with after market pipes and sounds fantastic. Best bike Ever  Show reply

Three in the Family – Had my 1999 Road Star for three years. My twin brothers have them too. Faultless, strong and most able. Why spend more when these do so much? They look good too. Met people in Canada who have done 150000 and 200000 on them without issue. Sump has about 5-6 litres of oil - hard to refill but good to have. Would love mags instead of spokes. Always… Read more

looking, but these tick a lot of boxes. My rating of 'good' might be under rated - could be excellent if I'd have ridden similar machines.

xv 1600a Roadstar – Great bike, smooth reliable grunt with a comfortable riding position. I'm 5ft 8 and purchased some swept back risers and it fits me like a glove. Done a two up tour to Tasmania fully loaded with one 8hr run from west to east in the rain with tight twisting corners much of the way, no problem. I think the long wheelbase and low slung weight helped… Read more

stacks in trackability, very stable machine, love this bike! Fitted a slip on slash mufflers, and man it sounds awesome, had the Harley guys appreciate the tone and style of this rig.

Excellent – Best cycle I've ever owned, power and comfort are unsupassed, I traded my Harley on it, and I've never been so glad to be off the Hog!!! Fantastic!!! Plenty of everything you need With the sports exhaust pipes, she coughs and farts a bit when I back off the throttle, could this be the result of using 98 RON fuel???

Excellent – I feal that Yamaha has over come all bike manifacturs. It has ben a long time. I will probly never have to buy a nother bike again. Hugs the corners tight. Smooth ride, hardly feal the bumps in the road. The looks and handling is out of this world. I have nothing bad to say about this bike!!
