Absolutely rubbish – This dishwasher I’ve had for 9 years worked fine the the 6th year but back then I have started to experience 2 problems. The motor of the dishwasher while in operation used to be very loud and then the system got fluided with water and broke down the dishwasher. Most certainly will stick to another dishwasher brand. Been working for 13 years – **Update-We retired the LG-14AW2 after 14 odd years still in working condition. My mate took it to use as a parts washer. Not sure how that will go. Had a few issues fixed under warranty-Pump and cct board but since the warranty finished it just keeps going.Cleans fine and reasonably quiet. The drawers are now starting to rust but found some newer… Read more
model ones that slip straight in.
The only spares I have ever bought are the strings that are used for opening/closing the door.
This is a fairly good dishwasher – I totally disagree with all the negative comments. This unit cleans well. Can not fault this machine. It only shows errors when it needs the filters cleaned. I Have replaced the bottom washer arm once, this was after 10 years of service which is expected. I would definitely buy LG dishwashers again. Show details
Great reliable product from LG Dishwasher LD12AW2 – My friend advised me that is one of the best he had used over years to get the hard jobs and clean properly compared with 6 other products he had used over years. The well known sales person that I approached at Harvey Norman had similar feedback advising it had minimum customer complaints or returns .The water efficiency star rating isn't… Read more
high but the operational quality is superb.
I had it for years and never had any issues. Need to use disinfectant and run an empty clean cycle once every 3 month and runs smooth with no issues whatsoever in personal experience in addition to feedback received.
LG in fact used more expensive components in this model than the superseding one.

Terrible – Stay the hell away... or... It only looks good. I have had only hell with this machine and with the incredibly incompetend service people. First it created an electrical short in the plug, then a few months later it completely shut down just before the drying cycle. I had to video tape this for the service guy to believe. They then replaced the… Read more
pc board. Now I get the E1 error. All this, only after a few months. What a piece of expensive JUNK!
Was great at 1st, now constant 1E/E1 errors – This has been a great performing unit however, we have had to have the handle replaced 3 times (which I did myself, even when the 1st time was under wty...just). It is not far off 4-5 years old Last year we had an E1 error. I discovered that the hose was torn (by mice?). I split & joined it. It worked okay for a few months, then the error… Read more
returned. I replaced the hose, and the error continued intermittently, majorly. This was a big job, even with the service manual. I nearly had to dismantle the whole unit.
I then replaced the circulation pump, which was @ $70 (PN 5859DD9001A). This was also a major job, & the part I had did not quite match the original. This has worked the majority of the time, but is not perfect. I cannot run at full cycle (70 degrees), or use the added rinse cycle options. Good Value for Money. Handle broke on 3 separate occasions. Now, it has E1/IE errors, even after circ motor was replaced.
Biggest pile of junk I have ever come accross – Upper drawer wheels kept crumbling. Always getting jammed and needing rinsing out with the slightest molecule of food residue. Very noisy. Water feed hose cracked and flooded my kitchen (LG did pay!)Pump went after 5 years - had it replaced with a new pump ($200). 6-month later, pump died again. LG only have 3-month warranty on brand new parts.… Read more
Scrapped it and bought a Bosch. So quiet and no problems with occasional bit of food left on a plate
Noisy, faulty, consistently broke down,, leaked

13 years – has run for 13 years has gone through 1 pump and now handle broken but no more spares, will try a fisher and paykel next would have liked to keep going but cant find spares. Show details
Fire hazard – All was going well for the last sixteen years until last week when the unit caught on fire. The household electrical protection did its job, however a electrical fire and fumes continued within.I was lucky I was home at the time to deal with as it would have probably burnt the house down. Hate to have to leave it behind! – Having read all other reviews, I agree with the person who wrote positive about this dishwasher. I have had this one since 2004 and have never had any problem! it has upper, lower, and both levels washing programs, and I have mainly used the lower level as we have only 2 people in the house. Use it 2x week, and on party occasions several full… Read more
loads in a row. Needs proper stacking, which I think is logical, and a decalcification one per year. As with all things: Proper preparation and proper maintenance preceeds perfect performance. Now I am moving house and have to leave it behind! The house I am going to has a 2 drawer Fisher and Paykel, and having read the reviews on that one, I start to think that I am in for buying a new dishwasher. Have a guess what I will be buying! Choice of upper or lower or vario program
Terrible – Will never buy another LG product again. Have additionally just discovered from http://www.recalls.gov.au/view_recall_detail.php?Recall_ID_Auto=15697 that this model has a circuit board issue that presents as a potential fire hazard. Enough said. Smeg dishwasher died after 5 years . Was desperate for an immediate replacement. Harvey Norman… Read more
salesman REALLY pushed the product. Essentially bought the sales spin. Usage: This product has always failed to clean dishes unless they were thoroughly cleaned first
Reliability: Within 6 months of usage to now (5 yrs later) have experienced almost every error code in the book. Have great relationship with the technicians!
OK – Washers dishes pretty well if not fully loaded. Supposed to be 14 place setting but if you put that much in it won't wash properly. Had machine about 5 years and no problems yet. Looks good, not too noisey Cutlery holder at rear, won't clean if fully loaded
Bad – Our machine lasted just under 5 years without a problem. Then the pump went and we were told it would be $400 for a new pump with only a 3 month warranty given by LG. The repairman said we were lucky because apparently the electronic powerboard on these models are known to be faulty and they usually don't last that long. We followed his advice and… Read more
bought a cheap dishlex as our new model for not much more than it would have been to replace the pump and we got a 2yr warranty. Wouldn't buy LG again. Washed well when it was working. Too expensive to repair, so initial outlay isn't worth it.

Excellent – I must be the lucky one as apart from one burst water pipe early on in the piece, it hasn't missed a beat and cleans wonderfully...:) Hasn't missed a beat since I bought it 5 years ago Does what it was designed to do I really can't fault it:) Occasionally needs the filter cleaned midway through a cycle. Doesn't do so well if it's overloaded particularly the cutlery basket
Bad – Had this dishwasher two yrs and have had no mechanical problems with it. I wouldn't say I love it, but it still beats washing by hand. Quiet; Great to be able to wash only the top rack; Rinse only feature good; Reasonable price The filter contraption is very hard to get apart to clean; The top rack is too high for wine glasses, even when on it's lower position; Plates require thorough rinsing other wise they don't come out clean.
Terrible – We have a lg LD-14AW2 Dishwasher. LG will not agree to replace the circuit board that is faulty, even though they have a recall on this model for a faulty circuit board??????? We will not buy ANY LG PRODUCT ever again.
Good – We have owned this machine since September 2003 and we have used this machine at least once per day since then. Except for 1 replacement of the lower washer arm this machine has not missed a beat. This model is not as quiet as the ASKO washer we used to own in another location. I love the fact we can switch the washing from both upper and lower… Read more
to just one or the other to save water. If you are on a budget I would reccommend this machine. Good Styling, Heaps of programs, Low cost, Efficient Water use. Not always the easiest to load. Quite noisy when washing.
Good – This is a decent dishwasher but due to the continuous errors that mine gets I cannot really recommend it unfortunately. Excellent power and water usage star rating which was the main factor in purchasing this dishwasher. Lots of wash programs and the digital display showing time left is handy. Looks good, quiet in operation and was easy to… Read more
install. Just about every time it is used I get a error (OE) on the display and beeping because it is clogged even when it isn't clogged. This is frustrating and I have to remove the filter, run it under the sink tap, and return before starting the wash cycle from the start. You could not leave the house and trust this dishwasher to have washed your dishes by the time you got home.
Terrible – I wouldn't waste my money again on a L.G dishwasher. Lifes Good without L.G. Customer service was crap doesn't wash the dishes properly.Breaks down all the time. Noisy
Excellent – The best I have ever owned. No trouble, not once, not for a moment. The quietest dishwasher I have ever owned. Chimes when cycle is complete, so you can open the door to shake the shelves to get rid of any pooled water while the whole unit is still hot and the dishes can dry. Best filter system, easiest to clean, that I can remember. I rinse my… Read more
dishes first, so don't expect gunk anyway, but the most i usually get is a few hairs. The tilt up racks on the top shelf have provision for cutlery also, so one can hang spoons from the semicircular hoops and stand knives whether table or kitchen / chopper knives on their edge. It has the highest clearance on the bottom shelf of any previous dishwasher, so I can wash things in this I couldn't wash in other machines. Works quietly and well. The racks and cutlery basket are the best I have ever had. Design of both very impressive - The cutlery basket has a "lid" each side which holds the cutlery apart from each other and secure to stop knives poking through the mesh at the bottom. Cutlery with wide flaring handles will fit in at the ends. The racks are entirely satisfactory, especially the ones at the bottom which will fold flat and can be fixed upright in a jiffy. Other dishwashers I have owned had to have the plate racks taken out and stored elsewhere. With this, the flat racks simply offer extra support to anything you stand on the bottom tray. I can overload slightly and still get good results. I can add extra dishes along the way if I find any, and if the water is hot, it chimes to warn me. It doesn't load and unload the dishes for me and put them away in the cupboard. And I would like it to hang up my saucepans too. But I can't find a button to make it do that. No other problem.
Terrible – Is now saying IE again. Cannot believe I wasted money I couldn't afford on such a bit of bang. Harvey Norman should be shot for advising people to buy them and LG want a good kick in the butt for their ineptness. Have a $1700 LG front loader sitting in shed with an error as well. Lifes Grief... Is a piece of crap. Just read about the recall… Read more
on here. I previously said on here about my dramas with it well it broke down again about 6 months ago and has been sitting there mocking me ever since. Hate the stupid thing. See there are a few lucky people on here but not many.
Terrible – Would not recommend for the abovementioned cons. Fortunately the fire was confined to the motor and didn't damage the kitchen but the whole house smells of burning. It was better than washing by hand but not worth the trouble. It looks ok. Nice features including child lock and push button operation. Poor build quality. Internal plumbing partially… Read more
fell apart after 1 1/2 years. Doesn't wash very well. I'm throwing mine out after 5 years use because it caught fire.

OK – We have had this dishwasher for 3 years now, and it has been quite reliable, except the wash quality is appalling if you dont rinse the dishes first. Apart from that the only other bother we have had is the bottom rack rusting and losing its support pins, we now effectively have a 6 place rack, and every other wash we get another pin fallen off… Read more
in the bottom of the dishwasher.
I doubt I would but another LG, I think I would stick to the european brands like ASKO or SMEG Extremely quiet, good looking unit Wash quality poor, racks falling apart
Terrible – Would not buy again! The last error code we have had is E1, the manual says "water is leaked by damages" what does that mean in English? The machine does not work and the manual is very unclear as to how to rectify. We certainly don't have a water leak. When the machine was working, we used to have to pour a pot of water into the machine on… Read more
start up otherwise we always got the OE error. This seemed to fix itself in later years. We have found the wash action to be OK with few dishes rewashed but the top layer isn't great for wine glasses as it is too high. We cannot get the child lock to work and the machine is prone to turning on and off if bumped while we move around the kitchen.
On reading previous comments it looks like getting a technician out will be a waste of time. Recall?? What recall? Easy to use, buttons are clearly assigned We have had every error code flash and now it has stopped altogether..Yes 5 years are up although it has had little use.
Bad – This is an all-right dishwasher, but when you wash it, the cutlery is never clean. There's always stains on it from the powder I think, and it looks horrible. It's also so annoying when it stuffs up, I'd only had mine for around a month and there was a problem with the draining, which is not good. It looks nice and it cleans dishes reasonably… Read more
well. There are lots of settings to choose from. The cutlery is never 100% clean and it's really disgusting! It makes the most irritating noise when error flashes, it's loud and it's won't shut up.
Bad – This machine is about 5 years old and my wife says that's really good. I refuse to accept that manufacturers make equipment to last for only a short period. The springs on the door went after two years but I recently fixed that myself. The springs mechanism relies on some flimsy bits of plastic and I'm surprised they lasted that long. Recently… Read more
the machine kept having water in it after the whole cycle and I had to run a rinse cycle to get rid of it. Then a couple of days later the machine wouldn't run a cycle anymore. Two beeps was all it could tell me. Turned out that the door switch wasn't working properly and the machine 'thought' the door was still open. The door switch mechanism also relies on some flimsy bit of plastic. I was lucky to be able to fix it myself since the local repair shop charges $116,- call-out fee and $33,- per 15 minutes thereafter (these guys make more than a MD specialist), which wouldn't make sense on a 5 year old machine. So it is still going and hasn't been washing too badly on the very hot cycle with a lot of detergent. The normal cycle and higher are useful, I never use the other cycles. I also found a service manual on the net which helped me troubleshoot the latest error. It's a dishwasher and saves time. It does wash reasonable well on the intensive cycle. Incomplete manual, customer support and it seems to be made to last only for a few years.
Terrible – We replaced the cutlery baskets as the cutlery kept sliding through, alot of glasses didn't fit up the top so we bent the wire out so they could, the cutlery is at the back which is annoying, the trays for cutlery at the top were useless and got in the way so we took them off, the door springs broke on both sides which my husband fixed and saved… Read more
over $300, the spray wheel broke off, now the water collects in the bottom sometimes and stops mid cycle and won't restart for a couple of hours(?). If you put anything large at the front the soap door won't open. The clean is ok but there are usually items that need rewashing. Quiet, good water rating, easy to use. The design inside is poor, broken in too many places.
Terrible – Washer arm constantly falls off. Has gone through a few bearings and gets extremely noisy when this is about to happen. Blew the electronics. Overall has been a money pit. Would never recommend this product. Broke down within the first 12 months and every year after. Lg's service was apalling!
Bad – after 2 years its noisy, the wash is only just a pass although some items still need rewashing. the powder tray door doesn't always open and your left with dirty plates and gluggy mess in the tray. you can do better for the price originally quiet operation but gets louder as it gets older flimsy door springs, poor internal design with plastic parts that just fall off.
OK – I have had this dishwasher for 4 years and have not had too many issues with it. I do find that I have to rinse the cutlery before I put it in the washer, which kind of defeats the whole purpose of a washer. Looks good and has several wash options. I found the intensive one the best - the eco one is terrible. It is nice and quiet. The trays are… Read more
starting to rust - which is a bit of a concern as it is a dishwasher, and should not really rust!! The cutlery does not always wash well. It makes several loud beeping sounds when the cycle is finished, which is irritating as I can hear it at night from the bedroom!!
Terrible – very disapointed with this machine i would have expected it to last a lot longer than it has without repair, should not have spent any money on it,. Looked good, lots of options had it for 4 or five years now, two computers, one motor, pump, now the cords that hold the door springs have broken. Lower spray arm broken, top one faulty. (again) door now opens, and floods the floor.
Terrible – i would not recommend this product to anybody except to the local golf pro to wash his balls in after practice quiet after 3yrs. door spring cords (venetian blind cord if you please)have broken with bruised shin results not to mention electronic problems .
Terrible – Thankfully I took an extended warranty on this piece of rubbish.I am still awaiting the verdict on whether the latest fault will be covered. It is Christmas, with son home for the holidays and a mass of dishes that only a crowd of 19yr old boys can generate.I'm off to buy a Bosch today. If the LG gets repaired ,courtesy of the extended warranty,it… Read more
will get given to a friend.I would not attempt to sell it as a second hand machine as I would not trust it to work for any length of time without another breakdown.
I will never touch another LG appliance again.
Have had it for 3 yrs,in that time I have had 2 pump replacements and the top water nozzle has fallen off.Doesn't wash pots well.Very easy to bump the control panel and accidentally turn the machine off and have to start the cycle again.
Terrible – The LG Nightmare In 2006 we bought a brand new LG Dishwasher. It looked really cool and had a ton of features. Within 9 months of the purchase date it broke down. Service call, after service call the machine could not be repaired. One night we the damn thing almost caught on fire. After the near fire LG just told me to unplug it and they would… Read more
send out a repair man again. Since the parts all come out of Korea every repair takes at least 4 to 6 weeks. So, about 4 weeks later we were finally able to plug it back in. Sometimes it would work but most of the time it didn't. After several more repairs the dishwasher had been rebuilt from the ground up and still wasn't completely functional. The repair company gave up and deemed the dishwasher un-repairable. They refuse to take anymore service agreements from LG. Not only from my case but, because every service agreement that they have with LG ends up this way.
I also submitted a complaint to the BBB but, it did me no good. I can't wait to beat it with a baseball bat Read the review
OK – We use ours several times per day as we have a largish household. It runs okay but I preferred their previous model which seemed stronger than this model, but this one has added features such as the half-load and 77 degree rinse etc. As others have said it doesn't seem to dry very well considering how long the dry cycle is and I always use… Read more
rinse-aid. It does clean our dishes though (and we don't adhere to rinsing dishes well before placing them in the dishwasher - we just scrape and put in), occasionally if I dont check the filter our glasses come out gritty and I have to replace them in the next wash. Overall it meets our needs to wash the dishes rather than us having to do it in the sink. Its pretty quiet which is important in our household as we use it when everyone's asleep. I like the time save option. The Intensive wash and rinse are great for peace-of-mind when washing raw meat residue off plates and boards etc. Half option is good but doesn't get used much in our house. LGs great 3 year warranty is the reason we bought it over other brands. Ours has had its troubles, haven't experienced the E1 error but we get an OE error and we have pulled it out to check hoses etc several times with no improvement, will have to call to get it checked. I dont like the flimsy grey plastic that seems like it wont last. The bottom cover (over the feet) keeps falling off when its bumped (not a major problem). The buttons are too easy to bump if you forget to put the child lock on, so its really annoying if you bump it and it only had 20 mins or so and you have to start all over. They should provide a power out feature that starts where it left off should the power go out.
