Samsung CLP-300 / CLP-300n

Terrible – I bought a CLP-300N about 2 years ago. WHen I first got it the print quality was quite good. After about 6 months the black started to fade and streak. I put up with this for about another 4 or 5 months then contacted Samsung who advised me to take it to a service agent. I did so and got it back a few days later all fixed - or so I thought. Sure enough, after a couple of months it started to fade and streak again on the black.
I contacted Samsung again who told me to get a report from the service agent. I took it to the agent who said it needed a new black developer blade which Samsung would supply but would cost $60 to install. I asked if it was something I could do myself and was told what to do so I did it. Problem fixed for another few months.
I am not printing huge quantities but the streaking happens every few months. It is a common problem as a quick search will reveal. Had I thought to look up reports of problems before purchasing it I would NEVER have bought it. The printer price wasn't exorbitant and the printer driver allows booklet printing Cosumables are relatively expensive and the print quality is dreadful after some months use.
Good – I purchased this cute little thing from DickSmith for $250 and received a $100 cashback from Samsung. So, for $150, this printer is worth every penny of it. The toners are compact, unlike the usual laser toners. It is quite and printing quality is superb. The power button is really a nuisance. The light indicator and the orange button are practically hopeless as it does not cancel/stop the printing, but just change the green light indicator to orangy flash. There is no way to reset/clear its memory so that it moves on to the second print job. No software UI to handle this either.
If only this one can have multi-function + fax, that would be awsome! Affordable price for a colour laser printer, compact design Power switch at the back of the unit, the light indicator and the orange button are quite hopeless
Good – There's a roster of laser printers available these days, and deciding what to buy can be challenging. I've been wanting to upgrade and leave my inkjet printer behind, and so this Samsung CLP 300 was the most achievable one for me. This printer is really not too bad for someone like me with simple printing needs. It's not bulky nor noisy, and yet it prints fast and with quality. My only concerns would be that it lacks a manual feed slot, and that the power switch is placed at the back (which can be cumbersome at times). Compact, space-saving printer. Quiet when at work Power switch (un)strategically placed at the back
