Appealing to the more economy-conscious, the 120ps 2.9-liter inline-5 inter-cooled turbo Diesel delivers superb performance with 25.5 kgm of torque. The inline five is installed at a 15 degree slant to minimize lateral pressure and friction while improving power and fuel economy. All engines feature Mercedes Benz's unique precombustion technology that helps extract maximum energy from each fuel droplet while preventing knocking and ensuring quieter operation.
As engines age, valve gap tolerance begin to grow leading to noisy valve clatter and deteriorating performance. HLAs incorporate an ingenious design that automatically narrow valve gaps and maintain tolerance at factory specifications. All major components such as the cooling fan, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, water pump and alternator are driven by a single poly V-belt that has 6 grooves on its surface. The belt is pulled taut by an automatic tension control system that reduces maintenance requirements. To ensure accurate fuel delivery, the fuel injection timing control system is driven by a double chain that connects with the injection pump, engine crankshaft and overhead camshaft. A hydraulic auto-tensioner adjusts chain tension to prevent any potential error.

Pros:
affordable, economical and has enough power to do the job. I tow a large boat beautifully along the highway and with only minimum loss of power up hills. Heaps of leg room in back which is one reason I bought it. Have a good dealer in Canberra so any small probs have been rectified. Biggest prob after 62,000kms has been to replace link in throttle cable and a component in drivers side electric window.
Cons:
so far so good. sounds like some people have got lemons and thats unfortunate because this is really a great vehicle.
Overall:
Good car, would be happy to have another but am concerned about the poor resale value. Best to keep it me thinks. Would be interested to hear from anyone that has done 150 plus klms to hear their experiences.
Pros:
I have a 2x4 musso auto 2005, 68000kms, very happy, no complaints, towing 1700kg poptop. Would buy another, when this one wears out.
Cons:
Only when towing van, motor will race from 2500rmp to 3500rmp for a short time then drop back, does not appear to drop a gear.(even in Power Mode) Any ideas?
Overall:
We are very happy with the vehicle, no longer any agent in Kalgoorlie/Boulder, we use Panuccio Autos in Bunbury. They specialise in Ssangyong service and repairs, are very help full and friendly. No problems apart from the motor racing. Have had it checked out, nothing on the computer. May try a transmission cooler.
