OK – I have extremely thick, curly, frizzy hair which has never been completely tamed by any technique or tool I've tried - and believe me, I've tried a lot. I've had the hairdresser straighten it, I've had my friend do it with her GHD, and I still only end up with hair that is wavy rather than curly and slightly less frizzy than it was. And even that… Read more

doesn't last all day.

The Wet2Straight, while not doing a particularly amazing job, is one of the better tools I've used. I like it because I can use it without having to blow dry my hair first (and with my hair, blow drying really isn't an option). If I have time to do a proper job - ie, tiny sections at a time at least 2 or 3 strokes per section - the results are fabulous and last until the next wash. Unfortunatey, the bulkiness of the unit, combined with my particularly rebellious hair type, mean that doing it "properly" takes at least two hours. It's also very easy to be burned by the steam that gushes out the sides when you're straightening. And if I use it frequently over an extended period of time, even with heat protectants, my hair gets dry and damaged.

This product is OK if you just want it for those days when you have enough time to do a really good job. If you're looking for an every-day fix, though, I don't recommend it. One of the more effective tools I've found for my extremely unruly hair.

Long cord wih convenient swivel feature

Straightens without having to blowdry first Damaging in the long term

Very slow if you're straightening from wet and have as much hair as I do

Bulky and unwieldy

Very easy to cause steam burns, even when following the safety directions

Plates do not meet completeley flat, leading to somewhat uneven results

Excellent – Let's first get one thing straight - I. LOVE. This. Straightener. Frizzy hair is every girls nightmare, but its what alot of women, myself included, suffer from. You struggle from day to day, finding the right product, the right hairdryer, the right hairstraightener, ANYTHING to keep your boof from having more personality than you. The search… Read more

is over!

It can straighten blowdried hair into smooth perfection, and with the right amount of straightening serum it can even do so with wet hair!

Not to mention, how much NICER it is on your hair. I've found that with other straighteners your hair can get burnt within a matter of minutes. With the Remington wet to dry - my hair can stay soft for weeks still, without the need of a conditioning treatment!

The amount of heat it can generate is amazing, and aside from straightening my hair into straight glory, it can also create desired curls WITHOUT the frizz.

This straightener is a dream!

I reccomend it to everyone - whether they have frizzy, curly, wavy hair that needs taming, or even straight hair that needs curling!

5 thumbs up. That I don't have to blowdry my hair when I'm short for time and need it straightened! It can make hair frizzy when straightened wet.

Excellent – my overal opinion is that you dont really see the results untill you do it to your own hair or your friends go on about how good it is. i have to say i havent seen theat much advertisment but i dont watch alot of tv either but if my mates didnt have them i wouldnt know how great this product was. i love that it saves you time because you dont need… Read more

to worry about blow drying your hair and then straightening it because the Remington S8200

is all in one. you can just get out of the shower get ready to go out straighten your hair and your done. the best part about that is that when you straighten your hair it keeps all the moisture in the hair and looks salon proffessional istead of dry split ends, its the best straightener to use because it makes your hair dead straight and looks fantastic. i always get great comments on how heathy my hair looks and i have hair extensions and they work great on that to. its just fantastic!!!! the only thing i dislike about the Remington S8200 is that when i go out i cant

stop touching my hair because its silky and shinny and feels great and people look at my like , "oh my god stop touching your hair". but its an addiction if i could have a choice of any straightner in australia this should be the number one top product.

Excellent – It is a very good product, it works well, heats up quickly, does not damage hair as much as some other straighteners. I like this straightener, it has lasted me ages and still works the same as when it was new, even though I use it at least 3-5 times in a week. I love this product, I have very thick, frizzy hair and this straightener works wonders… Read more

Good – I really like it and have enjoyed my time with it. I've replaced it only because the next model came out and that is 4X protection with diamond added to the coating. The next model also had a really great set of makeup brushes included and a better/prettier case. The 3X protection model (this one) had a much longer cord, which I found great for… Read more

my house where the hotpoints are limited and too far from any mirrors. It DOESN'T damage my hair like my previous dry-to-straight straighteners.

It straightens my hair really well and makes it sleek and smooth.

I don't have to use a hairdryer which takes forever on my thick hair and makes my hand want to fall off.

It has a nice long swivel cord. It doesn't have the diamond coating for 4X protection like the next model up which I've replaced it with.

Quick and easy – Have the opposite of curly hair, very straight so I use the straightener to give it body. Dont have it too hot and it is quick and easy from wet to dry. Have since had my hair cut and now it is a bit too big to handle on short hair but still does the job. Any straigtener will dry the hair. Use a good product over the top and I definitely feel… Read more

the difference when I forget it. From Silky to dry. I now how the next model and it is easier to use and does exactly the same job. I had noticed that my hairdresser used the latest model and had no problems doing my hair so I upgraded. Not unhappy and would recommend it to anyone but anything that is hot will burn. I am notorious with my iron. It was reliable and a fair price. My little sister now has it and is just as happy as I was.

Opinion – I really don't recommend this type of straighteners because it's really damaging straighten your hair when is wet, I prefer the regular flat iron and wait my hair to dry. I use a great flat iron that causes less damage to the hair and keeps my hair frizz less and super straight, it's the Karmin G3 Salon Pro and I luv it :D Damage more the hair

OK – I used to own one, and whilst it does do the job, i did do some research and i guess it makes sense that it really isnt good for you hair at all!! the crackling sound is off putting and i am sure it leads to more hair breakage than it should! It works Not good for your hair!

OK – I used to use this item and it was definitely very convenient being able to straighten wet hair. It did give off a burning smell and the steam it produces from your hair gets quite hot. I have since moved to a GHD and am not looking back. Convenient Possibly damages hair more than a regular straightener. Smells.

This straightener is long lasting and easy to use – Nothing but good to say about the Wet 2 Straight. It straightens from wet without damaging hair (I use mine every day with no ill effects). It heats up very quicky and I love the heatproof pouch, meaning I can put it straight back in the cupboard without having to leave it on the side to cool down. Also good for doing styling such as curling… Read more

Good – i love this hair straightener. i love that it dries your hair while styling it, and it doesnt take too long. when it finally needed to be replaced (due to teflon coating peeling/chipping off) i would have replaced it with another one if there hadnt been an awesome deal on GHDs at the time. even though the GHD is good, it cant be used on wet… Read more

or even damp hair.

i really dont like washing my hair, because i hate having wet hair (and have never managed to learn how to blowdry my hair properly) so the wet to dry straightener was the best present i ever got, and i used it EVERY time i washed my hair. can use on wet (towel dried) hair straight from the shower. i HATE having wet hair and this was the biggest selling point for me.

it always straightened my hair perfectly, and if i slept carefully it would stay straight until i washed my hair next. the steam holes can burn you.

i had mine for 5 years, and it was fantastic, though the teflon coating eventually started peeling/chipping off.

it is a bit bulky and doesnt quite reach the roots without burning your scalp.

Good – I don't use it on my hair if it's too wet - I still blow dry a little first (especially the roots, if they're not dry your hair can still be frizzy). But I've had mine for YEARS and I love it - love that I didn't pay near on $300 for a straightener too. When I go to a hairdresser they use GHD's and it's the exact same on my hair. Good – this works really well! it is a little tricky to learn how to use on wet hair, because of the amount of hot steam produced but once i got the hang of it, it was great. I only use it maybe once a week, and there has been no noticable damage to my hair. My hair stays almost dead straight except in humidity. Compared to other straighteners I have… Read more

bought it is better than all of them, except the ghd (which gives me dead straight hair regardless of the weather, but has to be used on dry hair). it works and makes your hair straight! need to be careful when using on wet hair not to burn yourself

Terrible – This is the worse hairstraightener ever! It destroys your hair! If your going to use it, still completely dry your hair first! Every decent hairdresser will tell you the exact same thing! Destroys hair.

Terrible – I was really excited when I got this product as I thought it would save me time, but I find it takes more time because you are continually adjusting the temperature. burnt myself a number of times and have now given up on it- ebay here we come. I don't know how this one passed the design team. Came with a nice carry case and make up kit The main con is that it is very easy to burn yourself. I don't know how the design for this one got passed. You have to hold it a certain way to avoid getting burned. Also, you can lock the temperature, although the buttons are on the handle and you keep bumping the lock off while you are straightening, meaning incessant beeping noises.

Good – I use this when going out not all the time, I find that it straightens my hair without any problems and was very pleased with the price. Bad – I just can not see how this does not cause a lot of damage to your hair after prolonged usage. Bad – i used to own this and while it was convenient, i didn't like the crackling noise it made going through wet hair, it sounded like it was breaking off hair and frying it. i just don;t think its natural wet hair to dry. i can no longer bring myself to use it. keeping in mind i have thick, coarse hair. may be better for thinner hair types.… Read more

OK – I raved about this product when i bought it (maybe 5 or so years ago),as my hair which is normally wavy/frizzy, would straighten so easily with shine. It seemed to lose it's ability to create the same 100% straight and shiny effect so I sold it and bought a GHD and never looked back. I bought this because I read reviews it was a good buy and a… Read more

friend also raved about it.

Cuts out the drying step which is pretty impressive

Wide plate allows you to straighten a fair amount of hair in one go

Creates a very straight shiny effect (however see cons below re: this)

Storage pouch is so useful to rest it as you use it, as well as to keep it in of course Didn't last as far as maintaining the super shine/straightness effect it had in the beginning for me.

Compared to the thin straighteners, I do find the remington wide plate to be a little more difficult to manage and had a few minor accidents using it near my ears.

OK – It is ok, this is the first straighter I have tried after having my hair straightened at the hairdressers which got me hooked and so was given this as a present. does straight it slightly and I guess for the price (and the fact it was a present) it does an ok job. Got it as a present, drys my hair when wet so cuts down time It made my hair frizzy and the straight hair didn't last as long as the hairdressers did, the steam can burn you if not careful and you can not get to the root of the hair easily

Bad – I don't think I will buy one again. I'd rather spend the money to get a better one which is less damaging and has more temperature control. It smells when I'm straightening my hair. Terrible – Poor design meant for right handed people only, would be nice if there was a guard over the controls or a warning on the package. It looks nice Not sure if it works on my hair as I am left handed and the controls are in the way and I keep turning it off while trying to use it.

Excellent – I bought this because I was living with 2 male housemates about 4 years ago and I was an early riser, so using the hairdryer so early was not an option for me. although not sure if will buy again because of all the hype with the GHD Very fast heating element, nice sleek shine that is achievable in a short time (about 10 minutes)

Also, the long cord is great when you are hard pressed for a mirror!

For the price tag, definitely worth it Used in a friends hair who had some product in it when it was first bought, and somehow it stained the plate and had a smell for about a year when turned on

Like the wide plates as when I bought it I had long hair, but was not able to do much curling with it

heat settings are easy to use and are stable. (Other brands can fluctuate slightly in the temperature)It comes in a carry bag and has a little area out the back to store a hair brush. My hair doesn't feel static or 'ironed' after I use it. Other brands tend to cause an increase in split ends but mine are fine. The area where the steam comes out can and will scold your hand if you're not careful and have it facing away from body parts. There's a lot of warnings on the iron but its easy to do.
