Steelcraft Enigma 3 in 1

Sturdy, good quality – This is a good quality cot. Once you know how, it is easy to set up. I never used the change table component. The mobile was of poor quality. It is more expensive than other brands, though Steelcraft is known to make good quality products. The mattress wasn't fantastic, so we would cover it with a blanket and then a fitted cot sheet. It's sturdy. It's heavy.
Good – I bought this cot because I believe Steelcraft is a good brand. It is very heavy however but is compact enough for travelling. If you intend on only using it on the one level it is fine but installing the bassinette is a nightmare. I would recommend it but keep in mind those couple of things. It is very sturdy and easy enough to assemble for… Read more
the normal level. The change table is a good idea. It is really heavy and the mobile is a bit of a waste and never used. The bassinette level was incredibly difficult to assemble and in the end we didn't use it as we didn't feel it was sturdy enough.
Good – This is a great portacot, especially after we bought a cheap one and it just would not pack up after two hours of trying the first time we used it! We're certainly glad we spent that bit more as it seems like a good quality portacot. So easy to assmemble and pack up. I love that you can use the bassinet feature if you have a little one and dont… Read more
want to bend all the way down. The change table and mobile are handy extras. the sleeping mat is a bit noisy. the change table is handy if you have to but we havent used it much as you have to bend at quite an awkward level.
Good – I bought this cot for my child, she has been using this cot since she was born and will be using it until she grows out of it. If you would rather use a portacot instead of a wooden cot, I would recommend this for sure! I have had no issues with it at all! I like the quality of the material and it looks better than any other portacot I have… Read more
seen. The price is expensive just for a portacot.
You can't use the storage pocket if you have limited space in your bedroom therefore you have to put it up against the wall. It should've been on the opposite side instead!
Not quite happy with the mobile because the price your paying for this cot...you should have a motorised mobile!
With the bassinette part, the mattress doesn't look comfortable as the boards have four parts, making it kind of uneven when they lay down.
Once you put the sleeping mat on the very bottom of the cot, then its even.
Bad – I went by the trusted recommendation of my local baby store, who have always been spot on in the past. If I had to start again, I'd research other brands that ticked my search criteria and compare. I'd possibly get a straight portacot with no extras & save the extra cost to buy a more padded mattress. This portacot ticked the boxes having:… Read more
wheels, bassinette feature (to save leaning over when they are young), the change table & mobile. It was a neutral color that doesn't scream kiddie colors and works with modern decor tones. However, we found the additional features we bought the Enigma for were all disappointing. I prefer not to keep the changetable over our sleeping baby, so use the flip option to store at the side of the cot. However, when returning the changetable to its place, it slides away from the frame and requires constant readjusting. There's a spot to put your nappies, but when you flip the nappy changetable over they fall on the floor. The handy pocked visible in the pic on this site is in my opinion on the wrong side. It should be on the changetable side.
The mobile animals have changed from this image. Two of the three are the same animal and they are cheap, tacky looking and dull in color. The mobile does not rotate or move. The tune is ok. There's a light too, which is ok. In all the mobile does not meet my expectations.
We experienced quality issues. The first time, a key part was missing. The second time there was a fault with the stitching. I am told that this is unusual for Steelcraft by the retail outlet that sold it to us, so perhaps we were unlucky.
The instructions that came with this portacot are appauling. It was extremely challenging to put up initially, although it gets easier with time. It is quite heavy to lug when travelling. It is also too wide to move through doorways if you want to wheel your baby from room to room.
Excellent – We have only used our cot twice, but it has been great both times. I have used two other branded portacots on a couple of occasions and both of their matresses have been really hard and I've had to put blankets down to make them soft enough that my daughter will sleep properly. The Steelcraft Enigma doesn't have this problem and my daughter has… Read more
slept soundly both times we've used it. I do echo the last reviewer's comments about the change table though and it's reduced functionality if you don't assemble it over the top of the cot. This is a design flaw that could definitely be improved. Multiple included features such as change table, mobile, bassinet, and the supplied matress is nice and soft. Storage compartments for change table can't be used when it is assembled in the "out" position (ie not over the top of the infant).
OK – This portacot is OK, it serves its purpose once assembled but I would not purchase this if I had my time over. The accessories are nice but the prtacot itself is only so so there are too many negatives from my perspective. The mobile music is lovely and calming and the small night light is great, bubs sleeps in this quite well and it is easy to… Read more
see him through the mesh sides Heavy, time consuming to assemble, the mattress in the basinet setting bubbles a bit and is difficult to make up. It is virtually impossible to bubs in tightly as is recommended to avoid SIDS. The matress is also quite noisy when bubs moves around.
Excellent – Easy to assemble. Take off the cover. Un-velcro the tabs. Clip up the sides, push the base down. Pop the base in and you're good to go. Easy to use and assemble once you have done it. Looks great, sturdy - peace of mind. Firm base to put foam mattress on top. However, base included is stil okay for a short nap. The bassinet height. This really isn't needed and a bit of a hassel to set up. Still worth the money spent on it though.
Good – I'm extremely happy with this cot; we travel frequently and although the cot is heavy, it is safe and sturdy. The first time we assembled it was slightly nightmarish (it's awkward and fiddly) but once we knew how it was done it was easy. It now takes only about 5-10 minutes to assemble. The mattress that comes with the cot is, like all portacot… Read more
mattresses, thin, noisy and looks very uncomfortable. We purchased a thicker foam mattress (fabric cover, nice and comfy, only about $50) which fits perfectly and allows us to tuck the sheets in firmly. Overall, I highly recommend this cot; it's worth the extra money for peace of mind. Excellent design; safe and sturdy. Flip-over change table is very handy especially for smaller babies. I thought the mobile was a bit silly but you don't have to use the music function and my baby quite likes it! It can be easily removed, anyway. Initial assembly is difficult but is much easier second time around. Mattress that comes with the cot is thin and noisy - see below. It's an expensive cot but definitely worth it if you travel regularly.
