Still going well after 10 years – Ours hasn't missed a beat in 10 years! It can moves across the floor at times (especially if overloaded) and has some mould on the seal. It did overflow a few times, but I realised I was using too much detergent, so it's been fine since I fixed that. In terms of positives, I love the Wool setting, and the EveryDay mode is great. It's never… Read more ·  1

marked our clothes, even since the mould has developed. We did cloth nappies for a year, which meant daily loads and it's been fabulous! Great to be able to adjust the heat setting.

Great machine! Had mine for 10 years! – This was a great machine, suitable for a couple with no kids because it's a 7kg after all. We got 10 years out of our machine, it's been great. I looked after it well as I know they are not as robust as the top loaders but they are more gentle on your clothes. I found that my clothes lasted longer compared to when I lived at home and used my mums top loader.

First front Loader - rubbish – We bought our first front loader 5 years ago and like everyone else got conned into getting one at Harvey Norman to buy the Ariston AVXL 105. I was told that front loaders are superior compared to top loaders for washing clothes. This machine left black marks on our clothes, the rubber seals are black now from mould and the machine takes about an… Read more

hour to do a load of washing and several times I have had the door lock and can't open it.

Not sure if these problems are a front loader issue in general or an Ariston brand issue but the problem now is to replace we would have to get another front loader as it sits under the bench.

Would not recommend this machine and read reviews of other models before purchasing.

Mine has be great – Had one repair while under warranty and today I had second repair as the carbon brushes that drive the drum had worn down. Repair man told me this happens with most washing machines at around the five year mark. Given that we are a family of five and are using the machine heavily I am happy to have had very few problems.

Lasted 6 years before breaking down – Not the easiest machine to use, however did a lot of washing in 6 years (two new kids). Like most things these days - cheaper to replace when it breaks down then repair - not sure this is the fault of the machine, more the prices the repair people charge! Worked fine for 6 years. Instructions on the machine poor. All the graphics wore off.

Waste of Money – So I have to say first up, that as a washing machine, I really liked the Ariston. It always cleaned the clothes well, I liked the 30 minute wash for most things, but reliability was the real Achilles heal. I only had it a couple of months before it started leaking. They came out and replaced the water inlet assembly and it was good for another… Read more

couple of years - same problem. Luckily I had extended warranty, and had it fixed again.

This week, it failed for a third time, and flooded the house. We always turn the taps off when not in use, but this time went to bed with the machine running. Woke up to a flooded unit - while the laundry had a drain it it, it simply didn't keep up with the flow.

It also had some bugs in it where it would get confused if you took too long to turn the water on. What's annoying though is the water inlet assembly was obviously poorly designed, and they never bothered to fix it. Worked well as a washing machine. Build quality.

Not too good – Had the washing machine for 6 months. Wash cycles far too long. All buttons on machine stuck, won't let me clear the settings and start again. Maybe the computerosed motherboard is "gone", but should this happen after 6 months?? Most frustrating as I use the machine every day. Would I go for this product again? - no. Unfortunately I let the Saleserson at Harvey Norman talk me in to this one. I should've stuck with Bosch or Whirlpool. Big drum

Ariston AVXL 105 – Our ariston washing machine was 4 years old when it quite working. Functionality was good until then, but it broke down due to a faulty circuit board. Circuit board and program to replace is almost $500. Shocking that I can buy a new machine for that cost. Very disappointed that the cost to repair a good functioning machine with working mechanical parts will be replaced due to complex electronics. Reliable Cost to repair

5 breakdowns for just over 4 years (including 2 motor changes) – conned by HarveyNorman sales person telling me that it is the best for value. What a lie! It's been a nightmare since the beginning. Not impressed – We have had this machine five years and have had multiple problems with it including mouldy rubber seal (replaces once), leaking water, now showing major rust on front panel, jammed door). The door has jammed shut again and we have decided to bite the bullet and replace the machine. Disappointed.

Good for a Top Loader – Long wash cycle with low water usage Good cleaning, particularly heavy soiled clothing, has a large selection of cycles to suit various types of clothing too. Low running costs - heats its own water rather than using the tap. Apart from a bit of rust and a small leak I have not had to have any repairs to this machine, overall not too bad. Energy Efficient, easy to use Leaking and a bit rusty after 5 years

Most popular brand in Europe! How is that possible? – It started out fine. It's now 5 years old. I'd expect wear and tear, but... The cold inlet leaks inside the machine - a slow drip. It caused the base and sides to rust. I didn't know it was leaking until it rusted through and left a puddle on the floor. It has occaionally failed to run some sections of the washing cycle. On the same cycle,… Read more

sometimes it won't accept "rapid" but sometimes it will. For a while it randomly decided whether to spin dry. This is becoming more of an issue. Loud "groaning" noises getting louder over the last month or so. The rubber door seal seems to be failing and parts of it are breaking off exposing sticky goo. Friction against the drum is causing harsh noises and a horrible smell. Some of the goo gets on clothes. The smell fills the house. So it's now unusable unless I get the inlet and rubber seal replaced, which will probably cost at least 1/2 the price of another machine. Reading other's experiences, I don't know if that's a good idea. The mechanical repairs don't even address the wash cycle issues. It used to work. It doesn't work, in so many ways - leaking inlet, rusted, failing/perishing rubber turning to goo, horrible smell caused by goo against rorating drum.

Bad – Stay away from Ariston. Parts are difficult to source locally, no tech wants to work on them and by the time someone comes out you might as well buy new. cost us under $500 and has lasted us 5 years till it stopped spinning. Very small but that's the case with 5.5kgs. Has dual taps for cold and hot. Washing machines should last longer than 5 years! The drum doesn't spin, looks like common problem is ddrum detaches itself from spindle often. Service coverage is awful, no one wants to touch these and parts are hard.

jammed full of wet clothes and will not open - fear it will snap off if too much effort put into trying to open it. Tried to report this today (Saturday) but service/maintenance is only available Monday to Friday so clothing locked in machine until Monday, wet. Probably ruined. Cannot help the feeling that once machine is purchased that is the end of things. Problems appear to be ignored by company. Afraid need to purchase new machine looming after only 18 months and do not feel too good about this! Ease of operation. Machine noisy expecially on spin. Wash cycle far too long - even on "rapid". Powder/lint residue on clothing after wash. Inability to get reply/satisfaction when reporting a fault - appear to be ignored.

Terrible – When they say something is too good to be true, it sometimes is. I've always been a careful shopper, doing my research before purchasing anything. I now regret not doing so when buying this machine. I had Top Loader Machines all my life and they were fantastic, reliable and super quiet. Heard from a lot of people, front loaders are great so I… Read more

thought I gave it a go.

Salesperson said this machine is reliable and will beat the 12++ yrs my old machine did. He said, super special deal, it went down from $1400 to $699 (should have sent alarm bells but my husband was sold at this point). With water rebate, it will only cost me $399 as there was a double rebate going on. I didn't want to buy extended warranty but thought, why not - just in case this unit is as great as he made it sound to be.

Hated it the moment I got it. I didn't think it washes as cleanly as my old Unit. It was noisy. I could hear the machine from the front room of the house. On top of that, it rattles. I've tried every cycle - even the Super Wash and still, I thought for a new unit, it's only doing satisfactory work. Yesterday, we decided to do a last test - Superwash on 90 degrees as instructed in the manual. Guess what? All my clothes turned blue cos' it's so hot that one of the clothes dye run. Mind you, I've had the same clothes in my old unit and it has the warm function and nothing runs.

Hubby thinks, I've imagining these things cos' I loved my old unit but it's a washer - it's not meant to be hard work!! I'm glad I read the reviews here as it puts my mind at ease that I'm not the only one having a problem with this machine. It's only a little over 1 week old so I'm hoping it doesn't konked out on me. What's the use of having a machine if I have to pre-wash, pre-soak everything by hand to ensure everything's clean and let the unit do minimal work.

Disgusting, I say and shame on the salesman for selling such an unreliable unit. Who cares if it's made in Italy. I used to work in extended warranty and used to hear people screaming blue black at how bad their appliances were. I never thought (well, I should have made that assumption) their white good are just as bad.

1. Doesn't clean as a new machine should. My 12+ yrs old Top Loader did better than that and it was on its way out.

2. Noisy and worse when on spin cycle

3. It rattles - what the???

Do not waste your hard earned money on a Ariston! – Never will I take the advise of a Harvey Norman salesman again! This is my first washing machine which I bought five years ago. I still remember the salesman saying....can't go wrong...a better… Read more

quality product over the others...blah blah blah so $900 and 3 year extension warranty later I thought I was set for a great long relationship.

I love to wash so this machine has certainly done a fair amount of cold washes over the 5 years. I learnt to live with its terrible high pitch wizz but started getting a jack of the leak coming from under the machine. Past two years I have had both the cold and hot water inlet hoses replaced (the repair man advised it was a common fault with this machine...great lucky me!). Tonight my machine has finally come to a halt...the current leak from the cold water inlet hose that I have been trying to ignore has won the fight. Do I pay another $120 minimum for the service man to come out again....no point wasting my money!

Gone are the days of top quality and well made goods. Just another piece of junk to add to our every growing uneccessary landfill :( 30 minute 'energy/water saver' wash, 1000rpm spin NOISY!, Hot/Cold water inlet hoses faulty, Motherboard located rear of machine at the bottom! (what were they thinking!)

OK – Just an update on my previous comment. I have been supplied with a new machine. The new Ariston has more feature than the machine I had. There is a 30 min wash which will come in very handy. In the end I am happy with the outcome, although better communication from the service centre would have saved a lot of frustration. The clothes are very clean Too soon to know if there are any cons I have only had the machine for a week

for another door latch. It doesn't help that the replacement parts are second hand, off machines that have already been sent back. This time we are being accused of being to rough with the machine by one of the call assistants in warranty.

Overall experience is bad, I plan to dump this machine in HN carpark soon as I can't be bothered going all the way to the tip. Can't really think of anything good to say, apart than it looks nice. Within a few months the problems started. To start with the door cover slowly started fracturing at the top. After several more weeks of use the plastic surrounds to the hinges began cracking. After this the door latch became stuck and we were not able to open the machine until a technician arrived. After 6 weeks of waiting and dealing with warranty and technicians the machine received a new door.

Bad – I, like so many others, was talked into buying this machine by a guy at Harvey-Norman. As explained by the servicing guy who came… Read more

around, the valves at the top of the machine have failed, leaking water into the motor, which has caused the motor to burn out.

The servicing guy also said that he sees an average of 10 Ariston Top Loaders per day and in his own words, "Steer clear of them." He also said that repairing it would cost $700!!!

It's still under warranty, so I'll wait until it's sorted out and then go buy a Bosch! Gets clothes clean and the spin-cycle does a good job of removing water from clothing. Leaks water, noisy, takes a long time to complete a load.

changing to liquid. I am pleased with the washing result, water efficiency, energy star rating, looks and quiet operation. This is a good mid of the range washing machine. Washing machine was a good price. The machine is extremely easy to use with dials instead of electronic buttons for many functions. The machine is relatively quiet except for the spin cycle. The machine is attractive and works both with hot and cold water. We wash in cold water only and the machine washes clothes well. The machine is very water efficient qualifying for the Water Rebate available at the time of purchase. The maching also achieves a good energy star rating. It is of a solid construction and fits a fair amount of clothes in each wash. The machine broke down after approximately 16 months of operation. The service centre was very quick and efficient in organising a repair, however I now have to wait 2 weeks for a replacement part. The washing machine bowl is a little small and I can't fit Queen Size doona's or large blankets in the machine. The machine also left some powder residue probably due to the water efficiency. This was quickly fixed by changing from washing powder to washing liquid.

quickly and then the drum comes off the spindle and the machine is useless. To their credit, Ariston did fix it quickly. However, less than 12 months down the track it has the same problem and will cost around $500 to get fixed. Plus, the rubber seal gets mouldy and looks (& probably is) unhygenic. I've decided to cut my losses and purchase a new washing machine. It will not be Ariston.
