Dont buy one – As above. Dont buy one they are no good. Not value for money. Catcher falls off. Hard to start. Things vibrate loose. Blocks up with grass that is considered normal. Poor fitting components. You need a licence to put the catcher back on. Need I go on. Show details

Budget choice, but corners cut – I purchased this mower roughly about 20 months ago. At the time I was a little skeptical of it, but pushed ahead as I wanted a mulching mower, but didn't have the funds on hand for the Toro I wanted. Ironically, I was the most suspicious of the unbranded motor when I bought it - which has proven to be one of the best aspects to it. It starts… Read more

reliably on second pull (after having had the fuel tap turned off between uses) - which is to be expected as the mower has no primer.

I found the catcher, which came disassembled in two pieces, ill fitting to assemble; to the point I accidentally snapped two clips and a screw mount when putting it together.

On first use with the mulching plug, it became immediately obvious that most of the clippings were thrown from the blades out to the front-right of the cutting deck congregating and clumping on the inside edge of the wheel - rather than being mulched properly.

A month or so into regular use, a stone put a 1 1/2" hole through the mulching plug. Yes I know mowers aren't supposed to be used on rocks - but by the same respect I would expect the materials used in to stand up the the occasional stray stone. The same happened again several months later to the catcher.

I've also found due to poor placement of the air-box and snorkel the air filter needs replacing regularly. I've since adapted a sponge as a replacement air filter, as I can wash and reuse it.

On my most recent use last weekend, I found that 2" crescent shaped chunk split off and was thrown from blade adaptor. As this component doesn't come into contact with anything other than the blade plate and shaft; I can only presume that there's been a fracture develop at some point.

I don't know if quality control is low on this brand and I'm unlucky, but I wouldn't recommend Sanli to anyone. Cheap price compared with similar features found on other brands; Motor sufficiently powerful and reliable Poorly made; Plastic components ill fitting, fitting, and prone to breakage.

Sanli Powermulch - Value for money – I bought this mower in 2006. Every fortnight I filled it with fuel and mowed the lawn, hosed it and wheeled it into the shed. Last week it died and huge amounts of fiddling and muttering under my breath would not revive it. Anyway, removal of the rocker cover revealed the push rod guide plate had been worn all the way through, 7 years of neglect… Read more

will do that. After making a new one out of a bit of galvanized plate, set clearances and reassemble then one pull on the card....wow goes better than new. Totally impressed with my Chonda. Carb is well made for a mower and easy to disassemble and clean. Honda parts fit but make sure you go for the right model, kits etc are on ebay and cheap. Youtube has instructionals on how to do most things with this mower with a 10mm spanner and socket and a couple of screw drivers. If you're a mechano peasant this is a good unit to learn on, it's not fishing science. Everything Plastic catcher lower lip catches on boggy lawn.

Good mower – I have owned this mower for a few good months now and it goes really well. Its pretty quiet and at 75 decibels, it doesn't leave you deafening the neighbours. Body build quality is quite solid, especially for the price that these are. The engine performs brilliantly and the 4 blades do the job as they should and it makes mowing the grass easy with… Read more ·  1

ball bearing wheels.

Some bad points here though. The catcher can be a bit hopeless. Cheap in build quality with bits flopping around and sometimes doesn't catch all the grass. A better design and build quality is needed.

The mulcher is a great addition to the mower but it can be a chore to put in or remove and being plastic, it leaves me wondering if the thing can survive a few seasons.

The recommended way from the manufacturer to clean the underside of the mower, on the safe side of the mower doesn't work as the mower leaks fuel everywhere. Can only do when you're out of fuel. Tipping it forward seems to work better.

Still, if you only want something that will cut the grass well, get one of these. Does a better job than your neighbours goat! Reliable, cheap to run, easy start Catcher and mulcher build quality are below standard and the mower can leak fuel, even when flipped over the recommended way

Good value mower – Was a little apprehensive at first but this mower is a little ripper, started first pull out of the box and has never let me down. Mine is now about 6 years old and still starts every time. The only downside is that the wheels are offset on one side to accommodate the height control so mowing the edge of a path for example is a little more difficult, but only a minor complaint. good to buy at an affordable price – Good lawn mover and easy to use. Strong power to work but just a little bit difficult to get it started. Simply speaking, it fits for monthly garden work. The price is affordable to much of us and I am satisfied with it from the day of purchase. Good bargain.  Show details

Great Mower – Great mower value for money! I have had for just under 12 months still goes hard and so far I am very pleased with it. Some times it doesn't start on the first go but raising it higher from the ground does the job. It is reasonably priced compared to other mowers.  Show details

Lived past the warranty then had a melt down – Have had 2 of these now to mow a fair size backyard. Should have learned lesson after first one, which was the yellow coloured series from Bunnings. It lasted 4-5 years. Bought 2nd one from a Sangli dealer. It ran well for 12 -= 18 months before developing a rattle a blowing smoke. Took it back to dealer for a service who said motor was gone. Both ran really well till they died. Would not buy again.  Show details

Total rubbish don't wait your money – Really just cheap rubbish. Never buy this mower or any cheap piece if xxx ever again. Belongs on a waste dump before you even start - $399 plus $300 to fix in two years. I don't think so!!! Seriously, this mower is a waste of money as every time you use it you have to get it fixed. I've left on the nature strip but feel sorry for the thieves already Doesn't start

Bad choice – Nameplate fell off on second use. Plastic in starter mechanism broke. Mower blade plate has disintegrated (fatigue around central bolt that attached plate to engine) Won't start now When it used to work it lacked power It pushed long grass over and failed to cut it Sharp edge on front of mower made it hard to push against grass It was cheap.

ITS'S SANLI FOR ME! – Purchased my first Sanli lawn mower as an emergency when my Honda lawn mower was in for repairs. I provide lawn mowing as part of my business. Very impressed. catcher. Works well with long and wet grass and does not clog up. The mulch plug works well. Not to heavy as I have to pick up and lift over things for some jobs. Uses less fuel then the Honda so I decided to Purchased another Sanli as a back up and use for my business. Five years strong of very hard weekly work and never let me down. Mower has paid for itself 10 times over compared to the massive outlay of my Honda mower I now use for home. Its a little gem and will serve you well for home or work with basic DIY maintenance.

Doing the job, slow reving large engine seems quite durable! – Checked all the immediately available options in Bowen and Collinsville on a weekend, the Sanli Power Mulch was agreeably specced for the modest dollars. Reasonable grunt, big slow reving motor, quite satisfied with it after a an extreme workout! Seems reasonably robust, one speed only via airflow governed....carbie is a very basic. Honest decent machine with reasonable parts back up!  Show reply

My sanli mower – I've had it for nearly 4 years and have had to replace the petrol pipe but apart from that it is the best mower I've ever had! It is the smallest model (not sure it's the one you are reviewing here ) and no gears. I love it. It always starts and is low maintenance.

Awesome value for money – We have had this mower for 6 years and never missed a beat. Paid $188 from Harvey Norman and our mother in law is about to get one too as her victa has died after the same time. Our Sanli is still going good and strong and will purchase another after this one dies(if it ever does)

Great mower – I bought this mower from Harvey Norman just under 3 years ago (31st December 2011). I have found it to be a great relirable lawnmower. I always use the mulcher which works very well. Always starts 1st pull provided I clean the air filter after about every fourth mow. I am on a 700sqm block which is a corner block so I have a bit to mow. I use it… Read more

every 3rd week during summer and 0nce every 1.5 to 2 months during winter, (except when we go on holiday it gets cut later). Only one problem was the mulcher plastic plate broke after 2 years but went to the Sanli repairer who gave me one to replace for free (can't complain about that), caused by mowing over a area that had small rocks and stones which I removed after replacing the plate. Its about time I replace the oil as I keep forgetting to replace it every year, so it has been running with the original oil in it to date. (shame on me)

Good Mower - Value for Money – Saw this in KMart - just wanted something inexpensive as we didn't intend to need it for long. off somehow. Small expense. Maintenance? I don't do much at all to it.. I agree this betters my Victa Mower (I found that to be quite needy from a maintenance perspective. Always starts, cuts well, love the mulcher Handle did shear off and had to be replaced.

Good mower – Brought this after reading all the other Mulch mower reviews. This one got far the most good reviews. Not surprising.I have owned a Victor Mulch and Mow, and a cheap Bunnings one, a Talon,(which was pretty bad). This one, which I have used several times now, is far superior than even the Victor mower. Mowing is a breeze.(I use Mulch all the time,… Read more

Sanli Powermulch – Strapped for cash when I purchased approx 2 years ago and was suspect of all the plastic parts. Apart from a broken blade plate early on,( easily replaced), its been pretty good on parts, held up well so far. The cut has been a bit disapointing, tends to blow the grass over result is uncut in sections, not sure why probably air flow effect under the chassis. Handle is also a tad flimsy price, easy start plastic parts, finished cut misses grass

Sanli PowerMulch PMS400 – The Sanli lawnmowers are great, best investment we have made in a while now. The lawnmower itself works really well. The key to these lawnmowers is to service them regularly just as you would your car (we service ours every 6 months). Strong and quite engine also has a strong chassis body. Economical on fuel as well. A lot of people on here that… Read more

give the product a very bad rating are probably service centers for victa, honda etc.. and they are all worried about how good these lawnmowers really are. They prefer you to purchase these other overpriced lawnmowers because they make more $$$. I paid $399 for power mulch – have had this mower for a year now so feel I can now comment, can be hard to start-needs fresh fuel and needs to be turned over fairly fast to get it to start. it is quite noisy when going -noisier than my old victa 2 stroke. it appears to be strongly built although I suspect the pull cord assembly looks a little more fragile I believe it has… Read more

Best mower I've owned – Bought this mower a few months ago from the Husqvarna shop in West Gosford, the staff were very helpful and promised me that this machine would start first go. At first I though it would be a typical sales pitch but for $299 I couldn't say no. Took it home fuelled it up and it started first go and has been running perfect ever since! Best value for money, forget about the Victas give these guys a go! Reliable, cheap, starts easily, cheap

Awesome Mower, never enjoyed mowing so much – Great mower, always had Victors this mowers wipes the floor with them. Powerful engine, I hadn't mowed for about 2 months and this thing just ploughed through it. I haven't tried the mulcher part I must admit but I'm told it works very effectively. I was going to give it 4 stars but I thought for the way it cut it wouldn't give it justice. The… Read more ·  1

only minor complaint I would have is when the grass is wet it leaves behind grass and doesn't go into the catcher. A great buy. Powerful motor, pretty quiet, ball bearing wheels, very cheap in comparison to other brands, The only one I would say is when the grass is wet the catcher doesn't pick up all the clippings.

Excellent – After much deliberation I bought this mower. What a delight to use after Victa 2 strokes for the last 20 years! This mower started first go out of the box, and has continued to do so. It is beautifully smooth to push on it's large ball bearing wheels. And the mulch feature means the lawn looks fantastic without the need for the catcher. This mower… Read more ·  1

Excellent – I did my research this morning, here and on other sites and then all around town, getting prices and features from all shops that sell mowers, and I came back to this Kmart to get this one for $280, half the price of any that had equivalent features elsewhere, so I thought I'd give it a go. Just finished mowing my lawn for first time since my… Read more

old mower broke down nearly two months ago (The Grass Was Looooong!! 7-8 inches average height) My lawn has a mixture of thick clover patches and long sticky grass that usually just bends back up again after you run the mower over it, but this mower chewed it up and spat it right back out.

They only say to mulch at height setting 5-10 with dry grass thats not too long, I thought I'd give it a good test so I set the height to 7 with the mulch plug in and to be honest, I'm very impressed, i only had to back track a few times to get the stuborn stuff that usually takes 3 or 4 attempts in different directions to cut.

A bit before I finished it started to drizzle and the mower still worked fine (I was taking it easy, not going too fast and it only labored a couple of times on some really thick stuff).

I mowed for nearly an hour and it only used half a tank of fuel too, which I thought was good compared to my old Victa

Overall, Great value for money! Sturdy construction, Mulch Feature works great, Price, Easy start... the list goes on... Petrol consumption... There really aren't any, maybe that with the mulch plug in it does get a bit of clipping build up inside if grass is slightly damp and you need to clean it out by hand, but I'm sure this would happen with an expensive one too, and it only takes a minute to roll it on its side and clean it out.

Excellent – I think it great value for money and very well built. I have read reviews stating problems with catcher, wet grass and thick grass.I have had none of these problems and can only assume this to be operator error rather than mower fault. great price , big motor, well built, use every two weeks, uses little fuel haven't really found any, have had no problem with catcher or wet grass.
