Nova 100 (often known locally as just 'Nova') is a commercial radio station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, broadcasting on 100.3 MHz with callsign 3MEL. It has a policy of "never more than two ads in a row" and quickly established itself as a major player in the Melbourne radio market, challenging the Austereo station Fox FM for the number one market position playing mainstream pop, RnB and dance music.
Pros:
It was the first station I started regularly listening to in the morning - and it really grew on me. Hughesy is good. Music isn't too bad for a pop station and the repetition seems to be slightly less than other commercial stations, not sure if this is just my perception. Evening/drive time slots are pretty good.
Cons:
Kate. Her attitude has really started getting to me, so much to the point that I can't bring myself to listen to the morning show anymore. If Kate left, I'd be back.
Overall:
Not bad, I'd give it a 6/10. Would be much higher if Kate wasn't on in the mornings. Sorry.
Pros:
They at least try and play some music that is different to the other mainstream stations though it feels this is becoming less and less.
Cons:
They are staring to sound very similar to all the other FM stations. They might not have as many ads but a lot of the songs are starting to sound the same.
Overall:
I really liked Nova when they first started but I rarely listen to it now. I really like Kate and find Dave to be a bit annoying but I still think its time for a cnage as they are starting to become a bit repetitive.
Pros:
Hughesy is still funny and likeable, has a good range of songs, too many ads
Cons:
Kate is not likeable, starting to get a bit stale, news is not very good
Overall:
Nova used to be my favourite radio station but it is starting to become a bit stale. While David Hughes is still a very funny comedian, he seems to have lost his edge a bit. Kate is as annoying as usual. The station just feels a bit stale. They seem to keep on repeating many of the songs that I find boring. Not edgy enough. I would not recommend it anymore. We need some fresh blood and fresh content.
