If I could give 0 star I would. My poor 2 week old baby has gotten a really bad nappy rash from these nappies. After being told these nappies are the best out of them all I decided to try them after having many leaks in the lidl ones I was using.… Read more
But after only 24hours these nappies have given my baby a very sore bottom leaving him red raw and very irritated. Lidl nappies are so much better compared to these.
Follow-up · The absorbency was not too bad. I used size 1 and was not willing to try another size after it had reddened and blistered his little butt cheeks. We had just come out of size 0 pampers nappies after using them for 2 weeka. so the size 1 mamia was not too small. We used lalipu from lidl and found them to be more gently on his sling but then found… Read more
I used to buy these nappies before another supermarket brang out a very similar offering at the same pricepoint, so I no longer buy them as it would require further supermarket trips. The quality of the nappy is very good and I never had trouble getting any stock,
It feels like it is not absorbent, feels like it is made of a hard plastic all over the inside and outside. Doesn’t hold much, I’ve only tried the number 2 it’s also too small. Not worth the money. Show details

Using since day 1 and absolutely love this. And i found the company is improving their quality Which is plus point. If you you can buy quality and best product at reasonable price then why to spend more on other products?? Going to use for my next baby as well. Thanks mamia❤️ Show details
0 stars – If I could rate 0 I would. Used 1 nappy on my son (thought I’d try, instead of always buying Huggies). He had nappy on for maybe 2 hours and now has contact rash/ burns on his thighs, privates and little bum. Will never buy again. Show details
Absolute RUBBISH – The old ones were SO good, the new ones are no good! Fit is different, absorbency is less and they feel really really plastic on the inside that sits against the baby's skin. Will not purchase again. Show details
WTH HAPPENED – Annoying! These nappies used to be 5 stars. Perfect, never leaked, I recommend them to everyone but Since the design change i can’t use them anymore. They leak EVERY SINGLE TIME after a very small amount of wee. They seem to not fit properly and are thinner and more “plasticy” feeling. So bad. Show details

Extremely surprised with the poor quality of the mamia diaper - doesn’t fit well, not absorbent and my bub had diaper rash as well. He kept crying till we switched diapers and realised the difference. Aldi should do better. Show details
Follow-up · We used Size 1 and Size 2. Both were equivalently poor quality. Size 2 couldn’t be worn for more than an hour as bub got extremely uneasy. We tried their wipes as well - this was okay. I would still recommend using Curash as that is what we used ahead. We changed every 3 hours in the beginning.. and every 2 hours later just to get rid of the compete pack and not waste it. Still had to dispose majority of them as baby wasn’t happy.

Good enough for daily use – Been experimenting with home brand nappies from Aldi, Coles, Woolies and Huggies. I found these to be fine for us. They hold more liquid than the Coles and Woolies. The wetness indicator works good for wees, poos they don't really go solid/full blue kinda like a mosaic blue/yellow. When we were at size 1, any nappy would do but as they got bigger… Read more
(we are on size 3) the Coles and Woolies were noticeably thinner which directly linked to capacity and so we erred more towards the aldi brand because we shop there.
So for context poop is big, once a day and we have only ever had one blowout. To be honest it's probably our fault for not changing it quick enough. I think the thing is good enough to catch it (provided you splay the edges properly) and you have maybe 5-10 min before it slowly leaks out depending on how the baby is orientated. I know Huggies are probably better but given they poop so little, it's worth the risk as they are substantially cheaper (approx 21c per nap vs 47c per nap). To counteract any efficiency loss, we can afford to change more frequently (which is probably better for baby anyway), unless it's completely saturated.
I do think there is some variation in each nappy because sometimes there is a mysterious leek on the odd occasion (1 per month maybe?) but it could be the way we put it on or because it's so full from overnight wee's. I can't stress enough that you must stop and wrap your finger around each side and splay the loose bits which significantly improves how this product works.
If you're looking for a cheap nappy this is it given you go through so many, maybe worth having the Huggies/other higher capacity overnight if you don't do many changes to try and keep them from waking up too much at 2am, but I think given how many we go through you can cut some cost here.
Update Jan 2025 - we've progressed from size 3 to 4 since writing the review. They have made them 'new and improved'. I think they're still okay, the sticky tabs are a little bit shitty as I think they tried to give them tabs so they can be pulled on and off easier. I think it's thinner, less sticky and thus cheapened the product. But as for absorption, it seems fine, I plan to potty training before going any larger size. Haven't bothered looking into other brands since last review
Bad on so many levels – I’m writing this review having just changed two nappies within 5mins…at 4:45am. Having gone through about three or four packets (newborn size), we’ve had leaks about 40% of the time. Not just when they’re full, but I’ve had to change a nappy that was on for less than 2mins because it leaked. It’s not just me, hubby has had it happen just as often.… Read more
We used Huggies for our first baby and used Huggies for this one in the hospital and never had a leak.
Other things wrong with this nappy (having used it for about 3 weeks): - it’s not easy to tell front from back (especially in the middle of the night) as it has the same picture on the front and the back (why???!!?) ( Huggies has a picture on the front only) - there are tabs on the front as well which don’t help to sufficiently differentiate between the sides (again increasing level of difficulty when sleep deprived) - it turns a nasty squishy texture when full - the wetness indicator strip only changes colour about 10% of the time so it’s pretty much useless
The only thing going for these are that they’re made in Australia (which is why we switched from Huggies which are now made overseas) and they’re readily available in Aldi. Unfortunately we’ve got a couple of small packets left to go through but then we’re switching back to Huggies or trying an alternative brand
Aldi Mamia Infant Size 2 - The Best – I’m not one to buy products which are cheap and would always look for eco friendly items, and high end nappies. A friend of mine told me about the ALDI nappies and she said it is was great for her son. We are not ALDI shoppers btw. My gym is next to ALDI so I thought I’ll see what they have. I saw the ALDI Infant Size 2 nappies on the aisle and… Read more
thought I’ll give it a go as I was running out of nappies. I have not regretted purchasing it. From the fit, to the softness, this is one of my favourites! I really like the fit as it is perfect for my baby girl. She hasn’t had a nappy rash, and it’s so easy putting it on. The feathers open up easily unlike other brands. We changed her nappy to one of the eco friendly ones that you find online and it gave her a nappy rash instantly. We went back to Mamia and after applying Desitin (because it was so bad!), it went away immediately. I ensure I have stock of these nappies appropriate for her size. It’s been great so far and hopefully we can continue using it!
Positive reviews
Can't fault them – I have read reviews about this product, unfortunately seen a few kids react/allergy to them, broken tabs etc I have bought at least 20 packs of these and 0 issues. They hold a lot of urine, no leaks. No issues with broken tabs. Tried so many brands over the 15 months and I'll always choose these. For nappies?- who wants to spend a lot of money on something that just gets thrown away. They are really affordable. I'll keep buying them Show details

Most affordable and effective nappies on the market – I’ve always been a high end brand buyer of nappies for our first two children, but a friend I work with told me to try the Aldi nappies. I am a fan! They are super absorbent and fit perfectly according to their size guide. They also seem to reduce the odour you get when a nappy is full from overnight. We’ve had leak free nights since using these nappies. Show details
Love these nappies! – My daughter is 4 months old and was given a lot of different brands at her baby shower. I started on the newborn Mamia and found them good but thought it was normal after using some babylove nappies I had leakage all the time and turned to Huggies which are alway amazing but found every now and then I got a leak out of them. I just re-tried Mamia… Read more
nappies again now and I see the massive difference between other nappies that I love! I haven’t had a single leak out of them and the tabs that go around and hold the nappy on have this stretch factor that is amazing and haven’t seen it in other nappies! the shape of the nappy and the tabs are designed to fit perfectly everytime! after I finish all my Huggies i will be 100% turning to Mamia full time and highly recommending them to everyone I know!
Negative reviews
Not very expensive but doesn’t have good quality leaking and very thin layer product. A reputed retailer like Aldi should not sell this nappies as it creates nappy rash and discomfort for babies . Show details
These nappies are so bad they have a chemical smell to them they don't hold well my 18m old has broken out in a allergic reaction its preety bad very disappointing don't purchase these nappies they are a waste of money.. Show details
EXTREME NAPPY RASH ON MY 14month OLD! Used size 4s. So upsetting to see my girl in so much pain! Glad to know it’s the nappies and not other reasons like infrequent change or teething!

We've used aldis nappies for our 3 children.... we're good, but last few months we've noticed the change. A quick Google search shows a change in manufacturer... they are just so poor. Leak after leak. Will be trying a new brand next time around. Show details
Rash/burns – Zero stars! Rash appeared very quickly, within an hour. It was more like burns it broke the skin. Very painful for bubs. Should be taken off the shelves
Disappointing from size 4 – I've always used aldi nappies for my little one, we've recently gone up to size 4 as the size 3 was rubbing and leaving marks around his legs so I knew it was time to size up. Since going to size 4 which is no longer the newborn range we've hand nothing but leaks every single night without fail! Disappointing as we've always used them. Show details
Chemical torture traps – Horrible nappies, daughter comes running to me everytime she wees saying it's burning her. DO NOT BUY THESE. Aldi needs to take them from shelves. Your children deserve better, would rather them run around with no nappies then these torture traps!!

Bad rash immediately – Within one day of using this brand Mamia my 1.5 year old got a painful rash. Cream didn't help. I realised it was the nappy causing it two days later and went back to original brand and the rash subsided but there is still damage. Chucking the full packet in the bin. Note: this was actually the second time I used this brand and rejected it. I had… Read more
told my husband I didn't want to buy them anymore but forgot the reason why. When it happened this time many months later he said yes this was the same reason from last time. Wish he had reminded me before it happened again.
Aldi nappies and wipes toxic! – These nappies caused the most horrendous, painful rash on my daughter. Not even an hour between nappy changes and her skin was scolded. Same with their water wipes, which are soapy! I thought I'd give the Aldi products a go. Never again! I'll stick to Huggies and cloth nappies. Show details
The worst nappies – Absolutely terrible product! The nappy has a plastic feel and after 2 days of use my baby got a nappy rash. This product should not be sold at all. Show details
New design is useless – Used them for 18 months until they changed to a cheaper design and became useless. Will give woolies another try. Shame on you Aldi. Not everything is about money. Show details
New design is terrible – The old design of Mamia nappies was great! Now the new design has a poor fit, it leaks and has a plastic feel. Thankfully the old design is still available at Aldi. When this goes, I'll be looking for a different brand of nappy. Show details
New design is absolute RUBBISH – I used to buy nappies for all 3 children from Aldi. Sadly won’t be back. The new design is so bad! Thin, doesn’t fit well, silica crystals all over by baby’s skin, they’re so bad! I’m so upset. I got so many of my mamma friends onto these because they used to be amazing Show details
Used to love them. Now they are useless – The changes made to these nappies means they are no longer worthy to buy. One wet episode from your child and they leak; they don't absorb anything and you might as well wrap the child in a newspaper. This is Aldi trying to skimp on costs and unfortunately it has cost them customers. I recommend buying another brand. Show details
New design is terrible and unsafe – The Australian made Mamia nappies were fantastic. The new China made nappies are terrible quality and just don't fit quite right. In the two packs I used, the absorbent silica crystals leaked out of multiple nappies and onto my babies skin. These were not full nappies either. I had one nappy with a brown sticky substance inside of the nappy lining. I will not purchase again, unless production is returned to Australia. Show details
