Broken after such little use – Sure it's a few years old, but it lived in the back of the pantry and rarely saw the light of day, as I preferred using either my big Breville Food Processor, which lives on my bench top, or my smaller Bullet Blender. This would've been the tenth time I've ever used it, maybe less, and it failed in the middle of mixing a cookie dough. I smelt a… Read more

burning type electrical odour after about 10-20 seconds......the lights work, but it has no life. I'm so dissappointed as this was not a cheap flimsy unit. The very sturdy glass jar and heavy base indicated to me, a strong and well made kitchen machine...alas, I was wrong. Obviously way out of warranty, my unit looks brand new...sob....now it's a doorstop. Note to myself, a expensive Breville stick mixer did the same to me several years ago. Design, look and feel made it very attractive, but the looks are only skin deep.

Expensive and Leaks – Very poor product quality. Had the first base replaced, after it cracked. Second base leaks through the bottom. Only use it occasionally, so there's no reason for it to be broken. Not what you'd expect from an expensive blender Never buying another Breville!!!!!!!!!!  Show details

Terrible – I bought this blender because i wanted a good looking blender that could handle ice. Although it managed this job well, the design of the blender is highly flawed. The base became a rust bucket within months and bits started to fall off soon after this. Within 12 months it was badly rusted and unable to work. I would not recommend this blender. It looks great and blends well. It rusts quickly and has a short lifespan.

Terrible – This is the worst blender I have ever owned and it certainly wasn't cheap. I wouldn't recommend this blender and I will not be buying another Breville one again. They all seem to have the same type of plastic base that is very brittle and prone to cracking. This model is the worst though because the wide base is such a challenge to unscrew.… Read more

large capacity and powerful Very hard to take apart and put back together for cleaning. The worst part is trying to unscrew the bottom, then it started leaking really badly. It had a huge crack around the screw-in part of the blade base. The service centre told me this was likely caused by all the force applied when unscrewing and screwing it back on. Also the glass jug cracked and needed to be replaced when I rinsed it out in cold water after blending up hot soup. Previous blenders hadn't been so sensitive to temperature change.

Terrible – Buy a different brand. The poor mechanical components can't take a lot of use. I was working it relatively hard with nuts, seeds, frozen berries and fruit but thats what they're suppose to blend. If only I could make a metal piece to replace the cheap plastc that turns the blades I would keep it Made smoorthies well and looks good The small… Read more

plastic bit that connects to the motor breaks and wrecks the whole thing. So have to throw the whole thing away. They just needed to use metal and it would've lasted 5 years rather than 2

Terrible – The worst blender I have ever owned. Always leaks no matter how tight it is screwed on. Takes forever to prep. Large capacity, can crush ice. Quickly rusted screws in bottom, plastic base cracked, leaks most of the time, difficult to assemble/disassemble for cleaning. Very expensive.

Not really a quality product – I've had this for a while, but have yet to experience some of the issues found by other users. This is basically one of the first, if not the first blender which I've used regularly, so some of these comments may be attributes found in the standard blender. When blending, I could smell some of the metal and grease heating up from the motor.… Read more

This would generally happen after about 1 minute of blending - though I commonly would only blend for 40 seconds.

When blending partially diced up fruits and vegetables, it would take a few starts and stops, to get everything mixing well. This is because when too much solids are in the blender, it creates this bubble on the outside of the blades - thus nothing blends, and I need to stop it and mix things around a few times.

The jar is glass, so it's pretty heavy. I'm also not a total fan of the plastic attached to the bottom of the glass jar, it feels like it could crack any day now.

The base control panel is nicely done. And all covered, so water and excess food/liquid won't clog up the buttons. So pretty impressed by the design in the control panel. Though electronics of this nature does have a tendency to break easily as it ages.

As mentioned with other reviews, I'm definitely not impressed with the plastic gear mechanism which joins the jar to the motor in the base. It hasn't broken yet, but it's definitely not instilling any confidence in it's quality. I've found that there are small specs of black plastic scattered over the base. I am guessing that the gears are grinding against each other during start up, and slowly eating away at each other.

Overall, not a fan of computerised electronics in kitchen utensils and the plastic gears make it lean more towards a negative review. Sealed control buttons, variable speed Plastic gears, computerised electronics, glass jar and jar design.

Terrible – This is the second Breville Blender that I have had that has not lasted. Unfortunately my warranty has just expired. The Blender was only used to make Smoothies for my toddler, and tried once to make a dip but it was useless. I will not be purchasing another Breville Blender. Looks nice and blends a smoothie well Could not handle pureeing stewed apple and pear and the unit lost all power.
