Coffee Machines ($50 - Several Thousands)
Going to your local cafe or favourite coffee shop for your daily caffeine fix may not be possible anymore as businesses shut and we all need to stay home for the safety of all Australians. However, that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on fresh coffee as there are plenty of highly rated coffee machines ranging from capsule/pod machines to manual & semi automatic coffee machines, all for under $250. As many Australians face job insecurity due to the coronavirus pandemic and we tighten our purse strings, even if you can grab a takeaway coffee it may not be financially viable for you to do so. Invest in a coffee machine and you’ll be able to enjoy freshly brewed coffee for long after the quarantine period ends and at a much lower price point.
Bread Makers ($100 - $500)
Flour and yeast can last in your pantry for a long time, but fresh bread unfortunately doesn’t. So if you need to self-isolate for 2 weeks and don’t want to miss out on a fresh loaf, a breadmaker is a relatively inexpensive appliance capable of doing much more than simply making bread. Starting from about $100, a bread maker can also help you mix dough for pasta or even make jam. Other common features include a gluten free mode, automatic fruit & nut dispenser and a pre-set timer delay so you can wake up to the smell of freshly baked bread.
Food Sealers ($40 - $270)
Ingenious and inexpensive, vacuum food sealers are a great tool to not only save space and keep your food fresher for longer, but improve hygiene and sanitary conditions in the kitchen (which we all know is particularly important given the current public health emergency).
Vacuum sealers work by removing air and moisture from food, which helps retain flavour, nutritional value and longevity of food. Whether you use it to seal uncooked fresh food or ready made meals, you can extend the shelf life of different foods for up to 3 years. Additionally, use it to marinate your food and you’ll find a higher rate of absorption with a much shorter marinating time.
